Sep 2, 2015Diverse factions and units, continually evolving gameplay, and authentic-feeling maps make for a must-own game for RTS enthusiasts and newcomers.
-
Sep 2, 2015Eugen have taken the classic RTS formula and created a compelling and fun strategy game. Well worth your money.
-
Pelit (Finland)Nov 5, 2015Act of Aggression is a traditional, acceptable RTS. Nothing more, nothing less. [Oct 2015]
-
Sep 8, 2015A solid RTS game right now, and with a bright future ahead, Act of Aggression is a strong and welcomed release.
-
Sep 3, 2015A traditional RTS with clever ideas that struggles a bit due to the weak single player campaign. Still the best RTS we've seen in a long time.
-
Sep 30, 2015Inspired by an old glory of the past such as Command & Conquer: Generals, Act of aggression is one of the best RTS on the market, compelling and technically well-kept. Unfortunately, the interface is a little nonintuitive.
-
Sep 14, 2015The combined elements of Act of War and C&C:Generals make for true old-school multiplayer mayhem, albeit with a lackluster single player campaign and a few issues here and there. Furthermore, the fact that Eugen Systems is genuinely and actively listening to the community feedback, leads us to expect great things. Long live the old-school RTS renaissance.
-
Oct 25, 2015A solid, deep and tactical RTS that is fun both in single and multiplayer. The main campaign isn't that great story-wise, but we appreciate its presence, and there's really no reason to get angry about it when the gameplay is that good. If you love RTS games you'll definitely like Act of Aggression and its three factions. Good job Eugen Systems.
-
Power UnlimitedOct 8, 2015An old school RTS in modern trappings that’s addictive as all hell. Highly recommendable for everyone who’ve ever enjoyed a realtime strategy game. [Oct 2015, p. 061]
-
Sep 14, 2015Quotation forthcoming.
-
Sep 7, 2015Act of Aggression is no C&C-clone, but it is a classic RTS game with a few fun twists and a fresh look on the aftermath of Act of War. Don't be mislead by the simplicity, because there is a deeper strategy game within.
-
Dec 21, 2015A very classical RTS, with beautiful graphics and an old school multiplayer vibe.
-
CD-ActionNov 15, 2015Despite some problems with AI the single player campaign is a really solid, interesting set of challenges. It’s a deep, satisfying game with very different factions that forces you to adapt rather than employ universal strategies. [11/2015, p.60]
-
Sep 21, 2015For those only interest in single-player, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. If online multiplayer or even AI skirmishes are all you need, Act of Aggression delivers a wonderful product.
-
Sep 15, 2015An excellent choice for those who miss the days of the RTS genre good old times.
-
Sep 4, 2015Even if it could have been called Act of War 2, Act of Aggression is a classic and strong RTS which can be related to Command & Conquer Generals. One thing is certain: this game is meant for online battles more than the solo campaign.
-
Oct 13, 2015There are some issues in the gameplay and balancing, but if you miss the RTS "golden age", you might still enjoy this blast from the past.
-
Sep 21, 2015While campaign and interface are not on par with genre standards, the skirmishes against AI controlled opponents and human generals surprise with explosive battles and unit variety.
-
Sep 2, 2015Despite its complete lack of fresh ideas, Act of Aggression does a good job of replicating the C&C formula. The lackluster campaign and uninspired factions won't win the hearts of singleplayer fans. In multiplayer however, Act of Aggression shows tons of potential.
-
Oct 14, 2015Α solid modern RTS that is in the same vein as the ’90s classics. The game by Eugen Systems is optimized perfectly and provides distinctive factions that require demanding resource management, featuring a plethora of different units. Unfortunately Act of Aggressions can’t help but feel generic due to its seriously underdeveloped campaign.
-
Sep 25, 2015A nice alternative from an already established monster of the RTS genre Eugen Systems.
-
Sep 22, 2015Classic RTS elements with a few new features, improvements for some, distractions for others.
-
Sep 18, 2015Soaked to the core in that quintessentially nineties cocktail of cynicism and an exultant love of violence, playing Act of Aggression feels like going back in time and returning to a home that only exists in your oldest memories. And that's special, even if it means dealing with some obtuse design issues.
-
Sep 16, 2015Act of Aggression is a great proposition for everyone still waiting for the next Command & Conquer: Generals. Old-school gameplay is engaging, but the first excitement dissipates with time, and the campaign is not great.
-
Sep 14, 2015It’s a throwback to C&C: Generals, which was one of my favorite RTS games of all time, but lacks the fun of that campaign and the kind of cartoonish feeling that infused that entire series so successfully.
-
Sep 13, 2015I wanted to point out things that this game tries to do differently than most classic RTS games because honestly everything else felt very… classic. That isn’t to say the game was bad or should be overlooked, just that if you were hoping for a reinvented RTS you might want to keep looking.
-
Sep 4, 2015A competent old-style RTS with very good production values but few innovations, an underwhelming campaign mode and tons of potential for competitive multiplayer battles.
-
Sep 4, 2015Act of Aggression is a typical, old-school, good quality RTS with base building and constantly expanding your army. Don't expect a complex, long, interesting story like the one in the Red Alert saga - there isn't one. This is a game for people who like to look for different strategies and like to discuss whether the tanks are too strong or the infantry is too weak.
-
Sep 2, 2015AI flaws and a limp campaign let down an otherwise-accomplished RTS revival.
-
games(TM)Nov 15, 2015A solid - albeit flawed - RTS. [Issue#167, p.96]
-
Sep 29, 2015Summary: Uninspiring with a lack of original ideas. It might be noteworthy if it wasn’t swimming in a pool crowded with 800-pound gorillas.
-
Sep 17, 2015Unfortunately enough time has passed since the last C&C game that I would have liked to see a few more risks taken, because I don't see the newer generation of RTS fans biting with this one.
-
Sep 14, 2015At the first glance funny and good looking honor to the golden era of real-time strategy turns out to be a wildly over-complex, and thus fatally unbalanced. From the average or below-average experience game is saved by the campaign and the fact, that within the RTS genre there isn’t much better choice currently.
-
Oct 29, 2015It’s not the worst RTS game I’ve seen in my life. It’s just bland and pointless.
-
Oct 7, 2015Act of Aggression truly lives up to its name. It commits an act of aggression against its players.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Oct 12, 2015Contradictory RTS with so-so basic mechanisms fails to bring any added value and bugs kill any fun this game could offer. The result is boredom mixed with anger. [Issue#256]
-
Sep 9, 2015For all the RTS experience Eugen brings this game, for all the carefully calculated resource management, for all the probably meticulous unit balance, for all the competent interface features, for all the map design and fiery explosions and destructible building and dynamic cratering, Act of Aggression feels like leftovers when it comes to action RTS thrills. An RTS without personality just isn’t an RTS worth playing.
