Feb 27, 2026Resident Evil Village is an essential Switch 2 pick for anyone who wants survival horror tension with blockbuster action.
-
Mar 4, 2026Resident Evil Village for Nintendo Switch 2 stands out as a brilliant conclusion to the Winters arc thanks to its DLC, excellent optimization, and portable performance that rivals other versions. Accessible action, horror, and puzzles with the classic essence of the series.
-
Feb 24, 2026The Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Village stands up there with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard as being an absolutely solid port for the hybrid console. The frame rate is almost rock solid throughout, and while a good chunk of lower-resolution textures is still present, they aren't as noticeable as before. The core game is still excellent, but it caters more to the action crowd like Resident Evil 4 did instead of the true survival-horror vibe of the previous title. Those who only own Nintendo consoles but love horror will get a kick out of this title, especially since it comes in a more reliable form than the original Switch version.
-
Feb 23, 2026The most unique and distinctive Resident Evil in the series, delivering a complete experience that works surprisingly well on Nintendo Switch 2. The included DLC rounds out an adventure that may be somewhat uneven at times but is highly enjoyable overall, with a port that comes close to or even matches the level of PlayStation 5, all in a portable console format.
-
Mar 1, 2026Resident Evil 7 and Village deliver a surprisingly solid experience on Switch 2, showcasing the RE Engine's impressive adaptation to the hybrid console. Resident Evil 7 runs almost flawlessly, presenting a largely uncompromised version; however, Village frequently struggles with unstable framerates in open areas and displays visual compromises, yet its confined sections perform fantastically well.
-
Mar 5, 2026Resident Evil Village remains one of the more experimental entries in the Resident Evil franchise, and the experience translates well to the Switch 2. With stable performance in docked mode, and only minor stutters in handheld, this port is a great way to experience Village's defining gameplay. Even if the narrative isn't the strongest in the series, the solid technical performance for the game's blend of action and horror, makes this port an easy recommendation for players wanting to experience—or revisit—Ethan Winters on Switch 2.
-
May 15, 2026Resident Evil Village gets the treatment it deserves on the Nintendo Switch 2 under this Gold Edition, that not only does a much better job than its cloud-based predecessor, but also includes the DLC released since then. Featuring a tense-ridden atmosphere, an exquisite sound design and an impressive array of unforgettable and disturbing enemies, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition stands on its own merits. The game has more than earned its place on the Switch 2 and delivers a marvellous blend of gothic horror, exploration and action.
-
May 4, 2026Playing this excellent port of Resident Evil Village - Gold Edition in handheld is transformative. The whole experience is here with all of its fingers intact, though the same can't be said of the protagonist. For Nintendo fans who haven't had a chance to play this Resident Evil instalment, this is a fantastic entry point. With a few performance patches, it could well be one of the best ways to play bar none. Successfully following RE7, Village is a good jump off point for people looking for a less concentrated experience than RE: Requiem. Highly recommended horror gaming!

Mar 12, 2026Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition, offers a tense, action-packed thrill-ride through some wonderfully styled sub-genres of horror. With so much to explore, collect, and fall prey to, it’ll keep fans engaged for quite a while, and rekindle fandom for those who lost it.
-
Feb 27, 2026Resident Evil Village’s Switch 2 port is nothing short of a masterclass, showcasing what the hardware is capable of, while giving you the chance to experience another great RE game.
-
Feb 27, 2026Resident Evil Village on Switch 2 is a technically impressive port, but ultimately one that will likely only appeal to Nintendo purists.
-
Feb 23, 2026Although more action packed than its predecessor, Resident Evil Village is a hell of a spectacle and very impressive on the Switch 2.
-
Feb 23, 2026This port to Nintendo Switch 2 is impressive, but it would be wonderful if Capcom could address the performance issues. The village is a crucial hub for your adventures, so I wish it could run at a consistent frame rate. The game is just a bit too ambitious for the Switch 2, but remarkably, it doesn’t sacrifice resolution as much as I expected. This gives me hope for Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2, and if that can manage to be a good version of the game, I hope Capcom can continue porting the rest of the series to the system. I hope a performance optimization patch smooths out the dips, or Capcom offers dedicated performance and quality modes.

Feb 23, 2026Resident Evil Village for Nintendo Switch 2 is a well-made port, although it's lacking the exclusive mouse feature which we wish they included.
-
May 13, 2026It's a true cinematic experience, with every cutscene watched with interest. The appearance of enemies — both large and small —is excellent. The pacing is good, and the village itself proves to be a great location. However, there can be too much action in a horror setting, which hasn't always been a good thing for this series. Inventory management is practically nonexistent, and the handheld version suffers from some frame drops.
-
Feb 24, 2026A slightly better value of a good game in search of its identity.
-
Feb 23, 2026Performance on Switch 2 isn’t as impressive as RE7, unfortunately. Although visuals and frame rate remain consistent in docked mode, there are a few issues present when transitioning to handheld. It still looks great, but you’ll definitely notice a few stutters here and there, particularly when exploring exterior environments like the central hub and reservoir...I still very much recommend playing Village. Its gameplay and pacing are excellent, and there’s one very specific moment that remains one of the scariest in the series’ history. When compared to RE7’s superb story and the wider franchise lore, however, Village is a bit of a narrative anomaly that I’m not convinced will stand the test of time.
-
Mar 18, 2026I absolutely recommend playing Resident Evil Village, but probably not on Switch 2. It’s a fantastic game, and it can be found very cheap on PS5 these days during sales. Paying full price for the Switch 2 version — technically worse for around three times the price and the handheld version is simply bad — instead of playing it cheaper on a more powerful console is actually the scariest thing I’ve seen since we got given the code. If you do pick it up on the Switch, do yourself a favour and keep it docked at least.

Feb 23, 2026I think I’ve made it about halfway through Resident Evil Village and I’m having a blast so far. The game plays wonderfully on Nintendo Switch 2 and combines a lot of the elements I’ve come to love about the series. If you’re looking to get caught up on the last game before beginning with Resident Evil Requiem, you really cannot go wrong with this version of RE8. The additional DLCs are included as well as the Mercenaries mode. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a daughter to rescue.
