A fantastic game that's well deserving of a port, aside from the controls sometimes betraying you. The only concern is that you lose some of the atmosphere on the smaller screen; For those who play mobile first, however, there's almost no reason to not dive in.

The choices on offer are remarkable… you can play with touchscreen controls, or a bluetooth joypad, or a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, or the official Apple keyboard+trackpad. On iPadOS, it has been reformatted to fill the iPad’s 4:3 screen ratio, but you can adjust the field of view. I would have preferred the option to play in 16:9 letterbox though.

There are 3 graphics settings: “Graphics”, “Performance” and “Battery Saver”. On the iPad Pro 11”, the “Graphics” mode performs extremely well, and looks incredible… unlike any other game I’ve played on iOS/iPad OS.

The sound is also excellent, although I would have liked support for spatial audio, as this game would really benefit.

Some concessions to the small screen (this plays on an iPhone too) have been made: the layout of the crafting menu and tool selection screens has been changed, for example.

Overall, the port is faultless; on the iPad. it plays just like the game you’ve probably already played on PC or console, but further refined.

For your £12.99 you get the full 20-30 hour game, plus all the DLC. There are no micro transactions, loot boxes, NFTs or other cynical wallet-drainers. In my opinion, this game is the best canonical sequel to Ridley Scott’s “Alien” and, on iOS/iPadOS, a stunning example
of what mobile games could/should be
    if publishers weren’t so greedy.
