Even without Rob and John Owen Lowe’s father-son dynamic, Unstable would be an above average workplace sitcom. But they are the main attraction, and their scenes together really make the show fun to watch.
-
“Unstable” is an adorable workplace comedy that’s odd enough to feel fresh and traditional enough to feel good.
-
It's very, very funny, thanks to a crackling combination of sharp writing, lovably eccentric characters and snappy comedic timing. It may not run deep enough to draw blood or wring tears. But that hardly seems to matter when it's capable of delivering jokes so effective.
-
“Unstable” proves consistently funny and involving. The father-son dynamics, while familiar, do manage to feel real (for a TV comedy) amongst the whiplash comedy.
-
Those who tune in just to see a TV star bounce jokes off his real-life son will end up treated to a show with a spirited, frisky sense of humor, the ability to hit a wonderfully high percentage of the many, many densely packed jokes it attempts, and a really lovely lead performance by the junior Lowe.
-
A relatively breezy series that doesn’t try to reinvent the comedy mold and is content to deliver consistent laughs in a traditional and time-tested format.
