Whose idea was it to introduce such an antipathic lead character, with zero charisma, zero appeal, nothing to relate to the audience with (cheating husband in the first five minutes? Honestly? THAT is what they thought will make a female cop interesting? Holy ***), nothing to try and fix the loss of the previous lead and, I have to say, nothing fun about all this at all. Yes, the show is SUPPOSED to be depressing, but what a far cry it is from the first season, when you were instantly invested, instantly curious about the cast and suspects and the whole process, if slow, was almost believable. Here it's just ... I'm not invested anymore, sorry. Expand

We were disappointed as we found the plot confusing and less than credible. It was not helped by the commercial breaks of course. The acting was fair but we keep coming back to the writing and probably the directing. Plot and sequencing were weak and I feel sure the director should have been able to encourage the cast to be more believable, with a few exceptions. We have recently viewed Happy Valley 3 so the competition was very stiff. We rated that as 10/10. We would not be tempted to see another series of Unforgotten. Expand

It all bodes well for Unforgotten’s changed dynamic.

First-rate. .... The search for the sordid truth brings Sunny and Jessie closer together. I look forward to more of their partnership. [4 - 24 Sep 2023, p.8]

[Detective Chief Inspector Jessica James'] underlings call her ma’am (“mum” in the British pronunciation) but she tells them “guv” will suffice. The show could use more of that dry humor.
