1 Point just for Henry Cavil and his very good performance as Geralt, honestly pleasantly surprised. What is this travesty?! I should have seen this coming after the way the first season ended, but I thought maybe the writer(s) would take the1 Point just for Henry Cavil and his very good performance as Geralt, honestly pleasantly surprised. What is this travesty?! I should have seen this coming after the way the first season ended, but I thought maybe the writer(s) would take the feedback into consideration. well not only did they not, they made it worse! What a blatant disregard of the source material, I couldn't even make it past the halfpoint of the second episode of the second season! If you haven't read the books, please drop this sh@t and go read them instead, or at least read them after you finish this, just so you can see what the actual story is.

What Netflix has done is more like bad fan fiction written by someone (in this case, social justice messiah Lauren S. Hissrich) who doesn’t truly wish to grasp the source material but prefers to inject their political ideology into it. Then, of course, there’s the cheap looking costumes, the CGI, questionable directing, and fairly poor acting (besides Cavill, who still doesn’t fit the part but at least he loves the Witcher).

Definitely not a good show. Yep, untrue to the promises she made that she wouldn't change races willy-nilly and would respect the Witcher, not so good ole Lauren has pissed on the Witcher, its universe, its fans, and on the real-world history from which the Witcher borrows.

Keep in mind I'm not racist AT ALL. There are non-whites in the Witcher universe. I find it offensive and sad that Hissrich chose to give non-whites hand-me-down roles rather than original ones that fit within the fabric of the Witcher universe.… Expand

There just wasn't enough Geralt for my liking. He is the character everyone likes. He is who we are here for. The books are told from his perspective. You control him for 99% of the games he's in. I wanted to write a detailed review but found myself buried in the mess this series is. It seems like authors chose the Witcher for a cool main hero, Ciri with skills that could excuse a lot and most importantly - a profitable brand.
Why elseI wanted to write a detailed review but found myself buried in the mess this series is. It seems like authors chose the Witcher for a cool main hero, Ciri with skills that could excuse a lot and most importantly - a profitable brand.
Why else bother with calling it an adaptation, if you're trashing the complex world with its relations, characteristics and history, completely change deep, well-based characters for simple and unstable ones and throw away the main plot which binds everything.
Plot feels like the script was created based on a 5-minute summary video of the books, and even that being watched while multi-tasking on a conference call. How I imagine this call:
- Oh, Ciri develops a controlled interdimentional travel capabilities over several years, let's make Stargate out of it, you know, the bad seasons. And make her learn that on the spot while running. Tell her she can do it, because that's how women empowerment should work, right?
- Also, there's not enough people of color. Let's throw away the one's that were actually there in the books and make half of the folk black. No, not the southern nations, the ones in middle-ages-like northern kingdoms. Just not the ones in slums. This will add to realism. Oh, and don't forget the elves.
- What about people with disabilities? Llet's make Dwarves people with dwarf syndrome, with a dwarf woman with a beard. It's not like it's going to offend anyone, right? We can do it because that's more inclusive.

To summarise, I am a huge fan of The Witcher universe and understand that changes are bound to happen in adaptation, like they did in games. They can even add or correct some things in the original. I was disappointed with season one but I gave this series benefit of the doubt. I told myself that altering timeline and changing main character's backstories was supposed to create a solid foundation for season 2 for all viewers. What happened then is not even incompetent, but criminal.… Expand

It’s 1 for Henry Cavil, as a single part that is not complete garbage. Storyline, casting, cgi and music is so much worth than polish series made in 2001 — it’s unbelievable.

There are so many problems that is hard to list. I had no expectations it would be better than GoT. But it was terrible. И я искренне не понимаю, как можно смотреть этот высер в стиле Сарика Андреасяна, долго думал кого мне напоминает этот сериал и это именно его работы, что не возьми всё плохо, актёры (кромеЯ читал все книги и прошёл ведьмака 3 несколько раз.

Смотря, я понимаю что хотели чтобы получилось, но это не получается, ни на йоту не цепляет, не переживаешь вместе с героями в местах где должен сопереживать. Очень сильно похоже на польские версии Ведьмака, но к ним претензий быть не может, они изначально низкобюджетные, любительские, но Нетфликс... не ожидал что им вообще всё равно что выкатывать. В общем отговорить кого то смотреть я не могу, стало быть выход один, смотреть и блевать от боли.… Expand

-total kitsch scenes - Geralt kiss Yenefer during fight - Is the most embarrassing scene I've ever seen(Every B movie), or when Geralt meet Ciri or all Yenefer scenes
-stupid cast - too many color people(Fantasy based on medieval eastern Europe = must have color people), Dryad looks like amazons, black elfs, black knights...... -_-
-armor designer must be 8 years old child -Vilgefortz is total loaser

Fringilla Vigo (aka cousin of Anna Henrietta) - Fringilla is described as "ghastly pale" when confronted by Yen at Lodge meeting; this is due to Fringilla's embarrassment at her failure in obtaining the location of Vilgefortz's hideout from Geralt.
Eithné - The Silver-Eyed
Triss - Books describe her hair as chestnut(Auburn), which is a brown and red coloring. In The Lady of the Lake it's further noted as "ginger" and while this usually pertains to redheads, in some cases it also means a brown red color.
Artorius Vigo - White old Man

The show is alright not that good I can't bring myself to enjoy the show, but somehow, There are things very unacceptable, they Hollywood the series or Americanized I would say, To diversity but unnecessary, The director seems to mess around with the timeline by putting Geralt in the past and Yen way in the past and Ciri in the future, and someone merge Ciri timeline with Geralt timeline, They put random black people in Middle Age European want to mess with the series but let's be real here everyone who is the fan of Witcher yall want a redhead Triss (But the book is reddish hair and chestnut) and good looking Yennefer right (with excellent acting skills ofc), Maybe we should turn Geralt black too. The show is super cheap CGI and costumes are pretty **** Henry Cavil did a wonderful job, but the rest didn't do that great, Feel bad for Henry, I think Netflix spend all their money on him or something… Expand

Very strong American political agenda brainwashing Imagine the media strom if white artists cast in "Black Panter" movie as part of the african tribe. But Making 50% of Slavic people black is absolutely ok. Netfilx double standarts.

When I first discovered the mysterious world of Witcher with the books and the games I was utterly mesmerized and wanted to discover the gorgeous world with interesting characters and their backstories. The TV show had not given me any feeling of intrigue whatsoever with bland acting and inaccurate lore. There are several things to mention here about the cast and lore. First off, Cirilla. Ciri was the daughter of The Emperor of Nilfgaard, Emhyr Var Emreis and not some heir to the Cintran throne in which the court decided to poison themselves instead of protecting their dignity and fighting to death.
Speaking of Nilgaard, the armored look cheap and lazy unlike the games where it was majestic and magnificent. Lastly, the actors/actresses. Triss was described as a beautiful sorceress with red hair with the capability of utilizing fire. What we got in the TV show was nothing similar to that. Instead we are presented with an actress that does not have any of those features. The only reason I am even eating this 1 is because of Geralts character. Glad the script writers didnt depict him as a Gun Gan.… Expand

I had very high hopes for this series, so my disappointment is much higher then of a casual watcher. Even ignoring the cast, the SJW agenda, the fact that few/none Slavic people have been cast in the SLAVIC-Central european based universe,I had very high hopes for this series, so my disappointment is much higher then of a casual watcher. Even ignoring the cast, the SJW agenda, the fact that few/none Slavic people have been cast in the SLAVIC-Central european based universe, the series itself is pretty awful. The writing is very dumbed down compared to the books, and many scenes have been simplified to be more casual-friendly. The timeline changes are awful, you get to a climactic point and suddenly it switches to another timeline, it's frustrating because it feels like the story keeps getting fragmented. The music is mediocre at best, they used your usual "fantasy" music instead of more traditional, medieval, folk music, it lacks any character. The overall filming technique doesn't feel right, too bright images, again, seems like your average Hollywood fantasy series, while the Witcher universe should have a much darker feeling, picture a bleak rainy day in a remote eastern European village. The CGI is hit or miss, but that Sylviann was absolutely ridiculous, made me laugh more then anything. The characters are forgetable, the acting is average at best, except Henry Cavill who is the ONLY redeeming feature of this series. He does make a GREAT Geralt, and it really shows that he read the books/played the games/was really into the universe before they filmed. Not the same can be said for the rest of the cast. If I was a casual watcher with zero knowledge of the Witcher universe, would have probably gave it a 5-6/10. But I had very high hopes for this, been waiting for years for a true high-budget adaption, and this was truly a crushing dissapointment.… Expand

Но засунули туда не конаничного главного героя, не обяснили поледовательность действий персонажей. О описании эльфов и дреад в книге и их адаптации сцеристов я лучше промочу. Потому что тут без эмоций я не могу. Одним словом сняли срашную дичь и говно!!! И это я мочу про непонятный доспех Нильф Гарда.

But they did not put the conanical main character there, they did not explain the poledovatelnost of the characters ' actions. It's not racist, but black elves and Indian or Arabic characters don't fit in the story. WTF. It's like watching the 300 movie with Japanese actors.

There was talk of this becoming the new Game of Thrones, instead they created a bad version of Xena the Warrior Princess. That was at least a parody in its own sense and at least watchable.… Expand

The worst adaptation I could imagine. Sapkowski in one of his interviews admitted, that his dream is to get an adaptation like Games of Thorne. For sure not this “show”. This is a disgrace to every books fans. Shame on people which did it.

Saddened that such potential has been Absolutely wasted by the writer believing their storyline are better than the books which millions of us have read.

Genuinely would love to know their thinking, in cavil (who practically carries the entire show) they have cast one character well and really that's about it.

Rest of casting is poor, magic is wasted and excitement is minimal. Why change entire characters personalities, story lines, make up new characters and believe it'll be successful. As a big fan I'm left truly baffled and would be surprised if a third season happens.

Eskell and Yennifer have been ruined.

You know, Andrzej Sapkowski hates the game series, but he praises this TV-show a lot. This show even as an independent work is bad - there is not even a hint of realism and logic and the visual component is not pleasing to the eye. But this is a show based on the book, so to say that it is bad show is to praise it. The series is terrible.
The characters are bad, there is not a single match for the book character. Races and kingdoms are poorly represented, magic looks like a laughing stock, the troops of all states look squalid, and witchers look like idiots. Almost all men are exposed as cretins, but women do not lag behind in the stupidity of their actions and judgments.
The plot is disgusting - in the first season there was still an attempt to show the events of the book, but in the season 2 authors decided to tell something of their own, distorting the original source. It came out awful.
What can I say about this show? Lauren Hissrich, writers and other directors - mediocrity, which should be throw away from the series. Netflix, hands off Witcher!… Expand

Henry carried the entire series on his shoulders. Once again, a mess for fulfilling your idiotic quotas.

I can't recall any famous blockbuster from a SLAVIC setting. I was looking forward to some new Slavic folk music; your pop music is pure cringe that made my toes curl. Even if Blizzard is a failed company in many ways, they made sure that the film warcraft was good. I can't understand how CD Projekt/Sapkowski allowed such a rape of The Witcher (Maybe after Cyberpunk, i understand). The Slavic touch is completely absent. It's more like modern London... It's a shame we can't give negative ratings. -10 for the series, +100 for Henry. I wish you bankruptcy for destroying another brand I loved!

I take it as racism against Slavs.

PS: Better watch this on youtube PO POL STOROČÍ POÉZIE - ZAKLÍNAČ FAN FILM (there are subs for that ) , it's much better and the film was made by amateurs.… Expand

The witcher is a monster hunter and you see a handful of monsters and the CGI for them is either bad or serviceable but you quickly learn they have very few tools in the box for designs even though they have a full game catalogue of designs to pull from.

The heavy leftist ideology pushed throughout the show sends it fully over the cliff with everyone being brown somehow in a story created by a white European using white European folklore, black washing works is unacceptable. Its as unacceptable as it would be if a black writer created a fantasy based on African folklore and it got whitewashed. Race swapping established characters is divisive, unnecessary, harmful and creates nothing of value. The showrunner, producers and writers will never admit fault, they will never admit it was their lack of vision, incompetence and their brutal shove it down your throat attitude with their far left extremist ideology that destroyed what had the potential to be a great live action adaption in a franchise that has renowned books and games.
