I'm a great fan of The Witcher books and games and I realy liked the first season. But, in my opinion, the history of Geralt (about the Witchers) could be more explored. For the fans of the world of The Witcher, the first season was very clear, but for whom whose never had heard about the history, I believe it was very confusing.
My suggestion is to add, on the next season, more scenes

My suggestion is to add, on the next season, more scenes showing Geralt getting prepared to fight monsters (one example is the scene of Geralt fighting with Striga on the CG animation).
I think it would be interesting to show the Witcher side of Geralt and what he can do with his powers, knowledge of potions and tracking monsters.

Critics are wrong; this is a great series with each scene like a a new story. The lighting, scenery, and wardrobes top notch production.

    10/10.

One of the best tv shows of 2019.

Despite the skepticism the show surpassed all expectations.

Script, casting, acting, soundtrack, visuals and atmosphere - OMG, it's great!

Registered here just to say that this show deserves far more better score than it has.

Give it max score and all my support.

    Thank you to creators!

    Can't wait for Season 2.

A really decent series. Very hard to follow at first but makes more sense the longer you watch and the better it gets. Can't wait till next season. I would think next season will be more straight forward and even better potentially.

High fantasy TV show that is faithful to the books. It does seem to "toss you into the deep end" as far as the world goes so people unfamiliar with the world may get lost on first viewing as the world is extremely fleshed out. It's well acted and the fight scenes are better than GOT

By woefully attempting a story made up from three fractured timelines to very little effect they have produced a final product that will undoubtably confuse any newcomers with its shambolic delivery of the story, whilst also it should enrage existing fans with its disrespectful shortcomings in terms of adapting the narrative and worldbuilding. The only positives are a small selection of performances and brief moments of fight choreography, but it's hard to see the silver lining in this tempest cloud. Expand

what an atrocity, they bastardized such a great series, how much did they offer to the author to let this kind of **** slide, the guy has no pride in his work to just let ****flix destroy it. the only saving grace is Cavill, and even then he alone can not save this steaming pile. 0/0.

Despite the terrible casting and hideous Nilfgaardian armor I somehow managed to enjoy the show.
Henry did a good job, special effects were decent and the plot was also OK. The time jumps between the main protagonists story lines were confusing, simple (past/present) information would make it more understandable.

Yes, you can tell he played the games, but i would question he read the books, because he tries to portray the game Geralt with his stoic badassery, but gives no attempt to show off Geralt´s wit and intelligence, which is understandable because like I said, the dialogues are pure garbage. I dont think the writers have the capacity to come up with witty or intelligent lines to begin with, so I dont blame only Cavill for that. However Geralt has never been a character defined primarily by his excellent swordsmanship or his stoic demeanor as the games or the show would have you believe. The show is filled with out of place diversity, men bashing, all the queens and authorities are black or female, its progressive garbage of first order. The audio and visuals are nice for a tv production, netflix has the money if not the talent. Fight scenes are probably the only thing I actually enjoyed. You can tell lot of time and thought have been given to the choreography, but thats where the positives start and end. The show has no regards for the slavic roots of the material and the lore is never implemented in any but the most basic and surface level way. This isnt the witcher, its progressive americanised generic fantasy for politically correct audience that took the names and tropes from the witcher and left the balls out. Expand

God and the Witcher’s low raspy voice sounds so forced you don’t get any emotion from his character. The characters fall in and out of love with each other in an instant. It’s just garbled story telling. I’m a fairly intelligent person, and by episode 8 I honestly don’t know what’s going on. The Witcher is trying to find the princes to fulfill a prophecy...? Most of you probably don't know this, but the adaptation has skipped all the humor from books. A great loss because it represents the considerable beauty of the whole Witcher. Nevertheless, despite the adaptation differences I had a great time. Henry showed only one aspect of Geralt and yet convinced me. Some special effects looked poor, but it didn't ruin the fun. It’s not even the actual political agenda that annoys me the most, it’s how immersion breaking some of the changes or book interpretations are. Off the top of my head, one of the most powerful characters in the books is reduced to some weakling who can do a cool party trick, but ultimately goes tumbling down a hill and gets knocked unconscious. Oh, and for that role, they casted an average height, indian guy - although, he’s specifically described as «a fair skinned, particularly tall and handsome guy» in the books. Why? The books are based on Slavic and Northern European mythology, not some modern day, racial inclusion nonsense! Henry Cavill’s interpretation of Geralt is, in my opinion, as close to perfect as you can expect, and there are other, very good acting performances by the other characters in this first season of the show - but despite it’s fairly high entertainment value, I personally think it’s flaws and odd decisions on the part of the creator, prevents this TV series from being so much more. As a person who have read all of he books I feel relatively competent to write this review. Show is good, worthy of recommendation, but in my opinion more so if you have read stories earlier. Plot is twisted in the timeline, events in this same episode are dozens of years apart, which may be very confusing to some viewers. Is it a drawback? To some extend.

Thanks to this way of storytelling show is more dynamic and gives you an opportunity to get more attached to each character before their paths cross but may give you a hard time to comprehend what is really happening.
Show lacks a lot of Sapkowski's sense of humor but fighting sequences make up for it in my opinion. I was sceptic about the music at firs, especially Jaskier's ballads, but I have to admit it, its growing on me over time.
In my opinion its worthy of score of 8, I have no idea why critics gave ti 5 on average. This show is not ground-breaking but it is fun to watch and I have confidence that next season will even be better.

It takes a while for viewers to learn how these characters are connected, via an exasperating Westworld-esque narrative knot that takes much of the season to unfurl. ... The Witcher heightens our confusion by fumbling details that would have helped it set a cohesive tone. Dialogue vacillates, from line to line, between theatrical fantasy-speak and modern colloquialisms (“Dragons are, in fact, a thing!”).
