I liked the show as a show, but not really as a Witcher show. Some of the actors were fantastic, like Francesca Mills, Sophia Brown and Lautance O'Fuarain. I think they did the best job they could with the scrip, time and direction they had.

I don't get the hate on The Witcher Blood Origins. Despite a slight (15%?) drop in production quality/budget this is better than The Witcher by every other metric. Michelle Yeoh in it too which always adds gravitas. Episode 2 is like twice as good as ep 1 at least, less grimdark, better story so far.

I don’t and never will understand what exactly fans want from this series. Stick too close to the source material and you end up with the live-action Cowboy Beebop. Stray too far and you get LotR: Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time. Is this mini-series perfect? No, and almost nothing is, hence my 8/10 rating. No, and almost nothing is, hence my 8/10 rating. The only real crime this show commits is being too short to give it a chance to fully breathe, resulting in some rushed plot points and relationships that feel unearned, similar to the recent and also fantastic Dragon Age: Absolution. I love the Witcher universe, played the games, and read the books. Just relax and take it for what it is: a brief but enjoyable romp that gives us more Witcher, which is never a bad thing. Expand

A great but short series. It shows that the world has huge potential outside of the main plot

The show’s derivativeness falls somewhere between depressing and embarrassing.

Creakily-assembled and fuelled largely by silliness, Blood Origin is for devoted Witcher watchers alone.

“Blood Origin’s” limited use of its strongest asset illustrates why the serviceable series never rises any higher — and sets a troubling precedent for what’s next.
