The result is a short series that feels just as long as it should be, obviously meant to help tide fans of Geralt & Co. over to the start of The Witcher Season 3. But Blood Origin does not stand very well on its own or as part of the expanding franchise, managing to focus on some of the least interesting aspects of one of The Witcher’s most fascinating pieces of lore. The Witcher: Blood Origin certainly does suffer without the muscular anchor of a Henry Cavill-type, as its writing simply isn’t strong enough for the splintered tale it’s telling. Why? just make your own IP if you dont give a damn. Not to mention how poorly this is shot and cut together. CGI is also quite bad but that would be fine if the rest was decent

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've long accepted that this franchise would stray from the books. I didn't really care cuz Cavill sold me and Nightmare of the Wolf was actually really good. So color me a bit shocked that Blood Origin is so awful. Here we have the lore and the conjunction and that's lost with so many unnecessary plots that appear to be created just for diversity. Now I'm not opposed to diversity, but if you're gonna make a miniseries focusing on a major event then that should be the focus. Put the diversity there and give characters room to breathe.… Expand

I think somewhere along the line Hollywood forgot why they purchase IPs. It's not a free audience to do with whatever you want.

The authors of this Witcher spin off have taken too many liberties with the source material. Combining to become a show with similar energy as that of a grade three child trying desperately to fit in among unfamiliar acquaintances. After watching the writers defend their work and being hopeful of them correcting course, I’m annoyed to stand corrected by the community and other nay sayers as this Netflix hit becomes a Netflix flop to not be named again. We will all commiserate with Hebert Cavil over the short comings of this script and the main show. The writers, production studio, and casting agents have failed and created something forgettable and at worst unforgivable to the fandom.… Expand
