Decided to give it another chance after being very disappointed with season 1 and I am not seeing the improvement I have seen mentioned in multiple places. Changes aside for the moment, as a standalone piece of media, the show is average at best. Changes aside for the moment, as a standalone piece of media, the show is average at best. The cast are generally very good and are probably the only purely good decision the showrunners have made, they are almost all very good in their roles. The writing however is sloppy, clichéd and poorly paced. Some of the dialogue is also very clunky. The sets, costumes and over-all cinematography are fine, some great use of colour and cool designs balanced by boring composition and strange editing choices. And finally, I can't resist talking about the changes.

The changes made in season 1 from the source material continue to ripple out and change even more things. Changes were always necessary for this and they are not all bad but there are too many baffling, enormous changes that have not served any purpose in condensing the story or making it more tv friendly, just random deviations. Over-all as a person who loved the books (flawed as they are) I can't give this series the 6 it probably deserves so I've met myself in the middle and given it a 5.

How can a motley crew of upstart, unexperienced, Woke activists have the guile or the audacity to think themselves better than A HUGO AWARD winning Science fiction author in Robert Jordan? Well, to the detriment of all of humanity, they did; and thus was birthed "The Wheel of Time", a contemporary television series that serves as vehicle for an inhuman political ideology and a desperate cash-grab; both of which are typical of this generation of Hollywood.

This production undermines every single plot choice, every character nuance, and every world building consideration that the late Robert Jordan weaved into his writings. Furthermore, the cast and access media are willing to shill for this ghastly lack of respect to the source material; going as far as claiming that its an improvement on the original books; an absolutely ridiculous claim that is so far fetched, its akin to claiming that your dog could paint a mural better than Michelangelo... and NO, I'm not talking about the Ninja Turtle....

I've seen the physical pain that is show inflicts on friends and family around me. It's hard to see something you love be disdained, abused, dissected and exploited, with absolutely no care given. The Wheel of Time is a legacy narrative! There are people who see Robert Jordan's writings as pivotal in their lives; whether it be inspiration, relaxation, or higher meaning. This production delivers no such depth, and is a spiteful bastardization of what Jordan wanted to transmit to his audience. As such, I ask you to not support this series, and to expect more from Hollywood, and require more from your dollar.

I hated season 1, I think I gave it 3 points, but I was bored and I'm all for second chances so I watched the first episode of season 2 last night. If the something else would be entertaining, I wouldn't mind, but it is boring as hell and badly written and continues the strong women useless men trope from season 1. The only decent actress in this pile of garbage is Rosamund, she makes some scenes bearable, albeit her character is borderline unlikeable. The rest of the show is an excuse, to give the ugliest bunch of talentfree actresses I have ever seen on screen a job. Don't watch, you might end up scratching your eyes out, which would probably be less painful than watching this hate crime. Expand

Here is everything that made me dislike the first season, only more: the men are useless, stupid or simps, the women are wonderful even when they are not (there can not be a bad woman here!), nothing makes sense, everyone is horny (and we are constantly reminded of it), even costumes are clean and freshly ironed which irritates me terribly.... Did I write that nothing makes sense? Because the fact that with the books the series has nothing to do but names I don't think I need to mention. More character-driven, detailed & vaster with better writing, world-building, cinematography, action & VFX, Wheel of Time S2 outdoes its precursor in all departments. A considerable achievement making it a contender to be one of the best fantasy shows in recent times.

This is a complete bastardization or RJ’s work. It’s a shame it made it past season one, but I suppose they are have little choice considering how much money they’ve lost destroying successful IPs.

The show is the manifestation of the "No, we have [X] at home". What we wanted was a lovingly made show that pays homage to the original story. What we got is disrespectful to the books and the audience.
This is better than the first season, but only marginally. I don't think the show will survive past this or the next season.

Developing the world Robert Jordan created into a TV series is a daunting task for sure, but this group is succeeding in ways so many adaptations fail. This is definitely not a direct adaptation from the books, and to be honest, if it was nobody would like it because there are major sections of the books that are long-winded and boring. The wheel of Time TV show is successfully creating intentional storylines to keep the heart of the story intact while allowing for a pleasurable TV viewing experience. As any books and will tell you the story as a whole is one of the best fantasy stories of our time. But there is no denying that there are large sections of the books that are difficult to get through and slow. The TV show fixes this and brings this world to so many people that would never take the time to read all the books. costuming and sets are improved, acting, and dialogue has improved and is very good. Character development is much better this season, I’m three episodes in and can’t wait for more! Expand

Season 2 so far is a big improvement upon s1 across all dimensions, particularly the writing. Every scene effectively accomplishes multiple tasks such as character development, world building, and plot advancement. If the season pays off through the end, I will increase my score.

It's not perfect, but as a fantasy wonk this is scratching all the itches for me right now and has me excited to see where it goes and as someone who has read the books, the excitement of not knowing everything is refreshing, closest you can get to reading for the first time again and I love it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am amazed by the rhythm this tv show has, thanks to the deep bond characters share with each others. Many themes are involved, from loss to friendship, from religon to self-sufficiency, from instinct to social restraints.
In my opinion every actor is performing really well, though rarely they appear to be pretentious. Lighting effects are really good too, even if the glimpses of magic could be better.
Anyway I am keen on watching more and more from this tale.

This seasons suffers the same bouts of woefully inadequate screen writing from season 1. As it stands this season is just high budget middle school level fan fiction unworthy of book fans and fans of season 1.

Season 2 so far is proving that you don't need to copy every little thing from the source material to make a good adaptation. In every aspect where season 1 failed to deliver, season 2 is a marked improvement.
Season 2 is simply really good television, and manages to keep easter eggs, hints and foreshadowing to future events and characters that book readers will know.

Does it have room for improvement? Sure. Every show has. But The Wheel of Time proves that it doesn't need a 500 million dollar budget to be great, and Amazon should heed that.

Season 2 is a marked improvement from Season 1. Writing, acting, CGI, and a world that feels lived in -- all have seem significantly improvements.

As a lover of the books (12+ re-reads and counting), the adaptation takes plenty of liberties, changes plenty of plot points, and manages to keep intact the overarching narrative and the what makes each of the characters so interesting.

It is a shame to see bad-faith review bombing of a great piece of storytelling because it is not a word-for-word adaptation. Highly recommend what I've seen so far in season 2 and can't wait to see the rest.

Based on the first four episodes of S2 so far, this is an excellent start. I especially love how they addressed some of my concerns from S1, including the lighting and editing/pacing. Things just look better, scenes are allowed room to breathe, there's more emotional impact, and things flow better.
