Predictable, cheesy, and sometimes cringeworthy. The acting is bad. The writing is awful in the first episode. And whenever they say “the Twilight Zone” I want to kms.

Because nothing is truly original anymore, this episode is a take on the original Nightmare at 20,000 Feet Twilight Zone episode from 1963. If all that Jordan Peele has planned for is modifications of existing TZ episodes, then this series as well as its Producer are just leftovers heated in a microwave and presented as 'NEW'. Nightmare at 30,000 Feet offers nothing that gives the viewer a reason to sit on the edge of their seat. In the original the manifestations that are supposed to be within William Shatner's mind turn out to be reality discovered by all including the viewer, yet in this 30,000 Feet version, the viewer knows every step and can deduce every future path in advance and the only left in the dark until the end is the antagonist journalist. This is a 3rd grade effort at storytelling and to anticipate future episodes leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Do you think the writers of the first episode understood the self-inflicted irony of their script? I don't! Just as the club's audience doesn't laugh one bit at the comedy sketches of our protagonist. I too sat bored out my mind, waiting for this snail-like train wreck to finally unfurl its "coup de théâtre".
I know 14 year olds with more writing talent.

Sadly, this is the worst version of the Twilight Zone out of all of them. The dialogue comes across as forced, the characters are not the least bit interesting, and not a single moment did I feel the hallmark Twilight Zone eeriness.

I can't stand Ep1, quit half way, lame story.

Why every TV show has to have a political agenda or,
it has to make general audience looks stupid,
    or something something.

Can we tell a good story instead of making some point?
we don't need someone to teach us how to live.

Completely out of touch with the original series. The first five episodes are embarrassingly bad for anyone familiar with the original series. I really wanted to like this new series. I kept seeing the ads in my youtube viewing. i even went over and purchased a month of CBS viewing to watch the season, but sadly almost every episode had a few major plot holes that I could not shake. The only episode with no plot hole was the first episode. Note that I could only take watching 4 episodes.

Sorry, but this reboot is no Twilight Zone. It should be given another title. The original was suspenseful, interesting, engaging, and it taught its lesson much sooner. Rod Sterling had a much more commanding presence and voice. I simply can't take Peele seriously.

Long term fan of the original. Not so much so for reboot. Watched this latest reboot with zero expectations. It failed to meet them. What I got (personal opinion of course) was a fat slathering of political bs. I, myself, stand in the mid ground on the political spectrum. Neither left nor right. However, it is clear where the writers plant their feet. This is their right, of course, but it is in no way true to Serling's original. The problem is, what could not be mentioned or shown in the era of the original Twilight Zone (hence the show title) is now up for grabs in the current age. There is nothing remotely 'Twilight' on television. Foul language, blatant political ranting/diatribes, race baiting, sex, etc. Nothing. This leaves the new Twilight Zone looking for itself. Searching for self-meaning and purpose which it tries for in social status... and fails. Its so heavy handed that it might be called The Political Zone with host Thanos. A Thanos hoping to snap his finger and make one political spectrum disappear. As for Jordan Peele as the new host, he comes across as though he were shoved money and told to do. No reflection on the original, Serling. He is neither mysterious as the original nor as funny as his roots. He just is a bland caricature of Serling riding on the fame of a decent first horror effort (GET OUT)and a weaker, barely tolerable second effort (US). As a third effort, TTZ sets him on a course similar to M. Night Shyamalan. A downhill trajectory toward oblivion. Expand

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Serling twice and found him to be a fascinating and brilliantly gifted writer. After seeing Jordan Peele's "Get Out", I was looking forward to seeing how he would handle the latest relaunching of this iconic anthology. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I have viewed the first three episodes and found them to lack any of the ideals or imagination of Mr. Serling's writing. Additionally, Mr. Serling would never have stooped so low as to tell a pointless story, while advancing blatant racial stereotypes that only deepen the racial divide, as in the "Rewind" Episode, which ranks lower than any of the 156 episodes of the original. There was and will only be one Rod Serling. The 2019 Twilight Zone is all hype and delivers nothing new or interesting. This series will be gone and forgotten in no time. Expand

Except for the 3rd episode, which ends in such a boring and pretentious on-the-nose way, not sane person could have predicted it.

The main antagonist seems to be the white man, more so than the mysteries and the twisted logic of the titular Twilight Zone. Anti-Gun, Anti-Trump, all white cops are only looking for a chance to shoot innocent black college students, white men think that every minority member is a terrorist, white men want to steal your girlfriend and/or are fat and psychopathic - these are the main plot points of the episodes, not anything supernatural. 1/10

Acting: Spotty. Some of the cast is doing a great job, some is phoning it in at best. Unfortunately, it means that entire scenes get dragged down. 4/10

Visuals: Low-Budget & cheap. Almost no CGI of any kind and no practical special effects either. A thunderstorm is the most visually impressive this series can muster. Aka on pair with the silent film, only without stunts 1/10

Extra: The episode length differs, which is a minor gripe, but annoying.

Bottom Line: TTZ 2019 struggle to be an entertaining series. It's biggest sin is not the political messaging itself, but the lack of anything else. I remember the unease and the deep-seated, unreasonable fears that crept up on me after watching the original TTZ. In this iteration we are instead greeted with obvious metaphors, stories that has been told a dozen times over and nothing to look forward to.

This series is already banking on the iconic credibility of the 1950's series, there's no doubt in my mind that if this series was released under ANY other name, it would be panned for it's lazy writing.

Their take on police shootings is so overly simplistic and cartoonishly racist that it weakens the show, as the reboot hasn't earned the right to have such lazy episodes so early on.

There is also a severe lack of Twilight Zone twists!

In the episode with the time travelling black family, I was hoping there'd be a Twilight Zone twist in which the policeman is targeting this black woman but it turned out to be for her time travelling ability, instead we're given an episode with as much depth and objectivity as an uninformed twitter rant.

In the first episode about the Comedian, I was hoping that the Comedian would find out his girlfriend is pregnant, he'd make a joke about his Girlfriend's mentor (erasing him from existence) then he'd find out his girlfriend wasn't pregnant, meaning she WAS cheating on him, then he makes a joke about himself and is erased, SOMETHING close to a classic Twilight Zone twist

There's no need for this show

Jordan Peele's chubby cheeks and comedic face is all I see! It felt like a typical BAD SNL SKIT! It was just AWEFUL! At least the first 2 episodes were. Extremely predictable, Peele's narration was almost unnecessary it came across as comical and took you away from the show. The dialog just awful! OMG! WHY? I'm just going to rewatch the original series on KODI.

The Nightmare... stretched all credibility in air traffic safety regulations given the circumstances. And the writers' laughable description of Vancouver Island as a ' barren atoll ' was amusing. The first episode was intriguing, yet I found it predictable. Episodes 2, 3, 4 were racially themed. Is Jordan Peele a racist? I was so hyped for this remake but with the racial overtones i think i'm done watching. I just watched episode 5 and I must say, trash! The whole scenario would not even be possible and it was so stupid that I just can't support this series as it is.

The first episode captures the very essence of Hollywood: a bunch of people with superficial understanding of complex issues whose job -- one that makes them inordinately famous and wealthy -- is to entertain, but all they want instead is to preach their garbage ideas and to "educate" those "rubes" on how to live. No, thanks.
