The Twilight Zone isn’t a filtered down version of the original, nor of its narrator’s own work. Peele’s stamp is all over it, but so are the many welcome imprints of various writers, directors, and stars. So yes, at times (at least in those first four episodes), the new Twilight Zone comes across as a really good cover-band update, not exactly bursting with originality — but if you’re going to try to do a reboot and then sprinkle in some 2019-fresh elements, why not build on the foundation of a classic? They manage to take plenty of good actors and give them nothing, leaving them slipping around in vanilla. Even writer Glen Morgan, who has done excellent work, especially in the original X-Files series, can't bring any of these episodes to life. ... Watching "The Comedian" felt like a very down-to-earth story which showed viewers a small glimpse into life as a comedian. It was a good story which I though really captured what the twilight zone has always been. "Nightmare" on the other hand was even better. Paying homage to the previous "Nightmare at 20,000 feet" in a more contemporary way I thought was brilliant and really showcases what this show could be and it also shows that great episodes like these may be right around the corner. Overall I'm really looking forward to Peele's TZ.… Expand

Jordan Peele's modern, refreshing take on The Twilight Zone is fantastic. Some of the episodes feel a little too long, granted, but that's the one true flaw in an otherwise very compelling show.

Too long, the first two episodes are just a soulless retooling of original TZ episodes. One mistake the original series made was to have a season of hour long shows. They quickly learned their mistake and went back to the original format of 30 minutes. Completely out of touch with the original series. The first five episodes are embarrassingly bad for anyone familiar with the original series. The writing and one-dimensional characters are on par with highschool plays. The "message" of each episode is revealed in the first 10 minutes toCompletely out of touch with the original series. The "message" of each episode is revealed in the first 10 minutes to leave you waiting for all the predictable and cartoony plot elements to play out. It's obvious that Peele didn't write these and that they were the product of a writer's room. There are easter-egg references and cameos from original TZ episodes but I'm not sure who those are meant for because this show feels closer to the Twilight movies than the Twilight Zone series.… Expand

I am extremely disappointed in this joke of a new twilight zone!!!! It has none of the wisdom and higher consciousness that the original has. It seems more like a platform for racial and political issues and a very inadequate one at that. Only the one about the racist cop had any hint of the original in it, but this too, was not Twilight Zone worthy. The original Twilight Zone pointed out the dark side of humanity, but offered solutions as well. Rod Serling was a genius and gift...please do his creation of the twilight zone justice or don't do it al all.… Expand

I know 14 year olds with more writing talent.
