EXCELLENT show! The kids will get on your nerves during the first 10 minutes but their behavior is necessary to push the plot forward. I've watched the entire first season in one week.

Too many of the reviewers here complain about the characters being whiny or the poor english dub. Being born in Sweden and a native speaker of it, I watched it on Netflix Sweden which had it in the danish language with Swedish subtitles and I found no problem with it.

I give this a high rating because the user rating is too low as it is. Obviously there will be flaws like most work but

What struck me the most was how this felt like a fresh take on the apocalypse, I haven't seen a tv series devoted to a plague that doesn't turn people into zombies. This together with the fact that its a Scandinavian tv series which is a fresh breath to the otherwise english dominated international market and proves, to me atleast, that there can be good fictional works out of our countries.

My other response will be to the whining. First of all, you should watch the whole series before complaining about this, both main characters do get hardened over the time of the series and psychologically its realistic that the main characters have qualms about killing people and moral issues at first. They spent 6 years in a bunker, the younger one being 10 and the older one around 16. Personally its more immersive to see these people crawl out, insecure and see how the world alters them as people. Several times they realize that their way of thinking won't work out or cause the death of the people around them.

To the guy who wrote that they only watched 8 minutes, maybe watch the whole thing before complaining? The children also act like children because they are just that, they were young and their mistakes did hurt them poorly. But as with any series, character development is paramount and the 6 years shows how they have matured as individuals whilst still being naive in a realistic way about the world around them.

Its a solid, well themed series about a group of young people trying to survive in a world where the very basis for survival, aka the water is trying to kill them and I really hope this will get a second season considering the ending of the first.

Ok so the first episode, i tought the story was a little bit to much/fake. But after it, I fell in love with the serie. It's so stressful and well made! The character play well to. Good job Danish people. Can't wait for the second season :)

Witty danish production with some substance of The walking dead and 28 days after, without the worn-out idea of the Z- people. Every one of eight chapters has the accurate dose of suspense and paranoia.

I really don't get the negative reviews for this, I thought this was a very good show. People seem to complain about it having watched maybe 1 episode tops lmfao. I'm giving this 10 just out of spite because it does not deserve the meagre 4,5 it has right now. It's much better than these bitter Betty's below are making it seem.

First off, if you cannot withstand watching a show with subtitles and must have it dubbed if it's in a foreign language. Then I highly recommend that you avoid this show. As the dubbing for The Rain is terrible and will throw you off.

The Rain is far from perfect, but if you stick with it. It actually starts to pick up and gets really good. For the first 2-3 episodes. I was constantly reminded that these were immature kids having to deal with a post apocalyptic world, but when things started progressing further and further. They kind of "woke up" in a sense. Which allowed the show to become so much better. As it moved away from high school drama. To actually fearing what we all deem to be harmless.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. Ok, it was nor a master piece but for a dystopian series The Rain is pretty good. Loved it, hope they renew. While there are some ridiculous and implausible things about the overall plotline, I found this to be a fun watch after it got started. I watched it in Danish with English subtitles, it greatly improved the experience (always does, dubbing sucks).

Took me a while to start sympathizing with the characters. The bad English dub and their annoying accents didn't help in that regard. After disappointing me with the first episode, the show started picking up my interest with the second episode. The show has an exciting plot that plays within an interesting scenario. I am almost tempted to give it an 8 star review.

I'm not going to lie, I started watching this show with very low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised! In fact, I couldn't stop watching this show so I watched all 8 episodes within 8 hours!

The first episode is infuriating because of the choices the children make, however, the character development for both of the main characters truly shows throughout the episodes (and 6 years they had to grow up as best as they could). Each episode kept me on my toes and I really liked the way the story progressed. I didn't find a lot of holes in the storyline either, the writers really did a good job at the whole post apocalyptic- what do we do now? storyline. I truly hope we get a second season out of this! I would love to know more about the characters and see where it is heading!
I would advise everyone to watch it in Danish with the subtitles! The dub was terrible and I only made it 2 minutes in with that before I realized I was able to switch it. Also please make it past the 1st episode before reviewing the show, it is the first episode so there needs to be background story development! Second and onward were just amazing!

I just binge watched this show and am extremely impressed with the quality of production, acting, and the overall script. The only potential negative is the overdub of some character's voices from whatever their natural voice or language is.

Like most foreign Netflix shows, The Rain's English dub is horrible. But the show itself is excellent. A great Danish post apocalyptic show with strong dramatic relationships, interesting characters, and some decent twists to keep you interested. And it sets up well for a second season.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I enjoyed this show. I loved the fact that it took place in Scandinavia. The older sister had to be an adult before she was ready. Her little brother couldn't develop social skills after age 10, b/c for 6 years, the only person he interacted with was his sister. Martin was a cool leader. I loved the blond girl with the braces. I felt sorry for Patrick, who wanted desperately to fit in with this group, only to have Martin turn his back on him (as Patrick's father had done). They did a nice job with flashbacks to further develop the characters.

The thing that bothered me was how the father just left them and never came back! Also, they could never take showers (no water!), but their hair was shiny clean. I can't say "oh well, Hollywood" this time.

Me – I would have stayed in the bunker with the food and security. Why they repeatedly left the safety of the bunker for the food-less dangerous outside world was beyond me.

That little utopia place where they ended up eating people freaked me out. I saw it coming, but not right away. I felt so sorry for braces-girl, because she found heart in the older lady, a mother figure for her, after her own mother practically disowned her. I was screaming at braces-girl to tell her mother that she was drugged.

Some of you who reviewed said that these people were acting immature, like children. Ahhh... they WERE children! Well... teens. Same thing. I'm an adult, and if I faced the end of the world, I'd ball up in a corner.

Uma excelente série! Eu vi a primeira temporada inteira numa semana e estou ansioso para a segunda temporada. Se tu gostas de uma mistura de ficção científica, horror e aventura, esta série é para ti. Há também alguns momentos muito emocionantes. Though Netflix’s latest binge-a-thon doesn’t always handle the logistics of that situation in a completely convincing way, its premise provides a sturdy backdrop for the suspenseful story of a girl striving to protect her younger brother at all costs.

Despite his best efforts, for a show where humanity is under attack, you ultimately need a reason to root for at least most of the humans. The Rain never gets to the point where you’re pulling for the water droplets, but this is one barren wasteland that makes it difficult to care about anything other than surviving it.

The Rain‘s greatest strength might be its clever hand with doling out information. If post-apocalyptic fiction has become too rote and familiar over the last decade, a good mystery yarn never loses its appeal, and The Rain spins mysteries well, dropping reveals and intriguing tidbits with impeccable timing. That quality makes The Rain a great binge show.
