The main storyline feels like a lot of missed chances. Each episode introduces a new side plot and resolves it almost instantly while simultaneously giving us back story on the characters through incredibly rushed and very bland flashbacks. Then the details.. Sigh. We are to believe that some of the characters haven't showered in 6 years, yet there is no sign of body hair (one of the characters even has a perfectly groomed moustache). The rain is deadly (instantly kills) yet right after the rain stops they can just carry on and touch grass, plants, whatever that has been touched by the rain. Too many plot holes and not enough to make up for it. The characters are bland and unsympathetic. Hard to get into it and actually start rooting for them. Great potential but extremely poor execution. Expand

All characters make idiotic and unrealistic life-threatening decisions that takes makes you scream, “Why!?” In the first episode, the kids opens the bunker with no seemingly transition on how they did so which I found bothering. This lead to a poorly handled scene.

Here’s a guide to watch the whole first season in 1 hour: Watch all of episode 1. Skip episodes 2-7. Nothing meaningful

Very nice concept but absolutely trash
It is one of those shows where within the first 30 minutes it becomes apparent that the only real threat to the main characters is themselves, by being incredibly dumb.
The actual threat (The Rain) is just the reason they keep doing dumb things. Obviously something has to go wrong for the show to become interesting but it just does it in the most

One man claims to be able to save the world, unfortunately his kids are retarded and irritating. Show would have been better if they died in the beginning and we watch meerkats play in the rain the rest of the season.

Why do people make whiny characters in 2018. Not even 10minutes into the show and the characters start whining instead of just listening to a smarter character. Characters whine way too much without advancing the story on top of it's dubbed so it just adds more to the negativity. After one episode I couldn't take it anymore.

I love dystopian, worst-case scenario sci-fi movies just like the next guy, but this is another underwhelming serving by Netflix. Clichéd tropes are OK but the panicky teenager & moronic younger brother combo makes you want them to be killed off because they are just so freaking annoying! This is a poor man's poor man's Walking Dead

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first 10 minutes of this were enough to deter me from the rest of the show. Typical ridiculous character choices as in the teenage girl who opens the door to the the shelter after being warned not to and kills her mother. This is just another poorly thought out show relying on stupid human choices to make some drama rather than any meaningful development. 1/10. Expand

If you enjoy a show in which the main characters make terrible (irrational) decisions, don't bother to reflect on those decisions even though it gets everyone they love killed, encourage others to make terrible decisions, and basically just uses science as a plot device while not actually dealing with the complications that would arise in favor of teenage sex, convenient encounters, andIf you enjoy a show in which the main characters make terrible (irrational) decisions, don't bother to reflect on those decisions even though it gets everyone they love killed, encourage others to make terrible decisions, and basically just uses science as a plot device while not actually dealing with the complications that would arise in favor of teenage sex, convenient encounters, and lots of hiking, this is the show for you. The poor English dub is distracting. The protagonists are moron children that opened the front door to the baddies in the first episode. Let them die and give me a story where the characters are intelligent.

The new dystopian thriller from denmark, featuring blatant stupidity, annoying characters, and literally watching plants grow. Couldn't make it to the end of this show. You can play a drinking game each time Rasmus is said in an episode. Netflix - try harder.

This show's writing is so bad that it makes you hate the main characters right from the start. I don't blame the actors though, they just got a terrible director and a moron writing the script. It's easy to hate the actors given that their characters are so dumb, but I'm actually sorry for 'em.

To be fair, I have not finished nor intend to finish the first season.
With that being said, let me be quick to tell you that the acting is instantly noticeable. So noticeable that it will drive you mad. What's more is that the plot barely improves. The show moves at such a slow rate that it takes 4 or more episodes for the show to truly progress.

What's mad is the decisions made and how poorly written the characters are. Very little is to like about this show. Watching the beginning and ending of the series may be the absolute biggest thrill the show has to offer.

I share the sentiments of most people that got easily annoyed by the main characters at the start of the first few minutes. I only continued watching up to about 30 minutes in of the first episode. It was that horrible!

The initial tension in the air was promising. But when they got into the bunker, that's when it all started to fall apart for me. The instructions given by the father were very simple. Just stay in there with their mother until he gets back to them after some time if not sooner. I also find it a bit confusing as to why he already has to go outside with that thing still actively happening. Many things were becoming very unclear and so inconsistent that made me really lose interest to continue watching it.

One thing in particular is that teenage girl who was portrayed as really stupid for someone of her age. I thought she was a smart one in school? When she got into the bunker, she was so ridiculously inept and had really bad catastrophic ideas in her head, like the decision to open the door that then killed their mother in the process and to keep thinking of finding their father constantly, despite being told that she has to protect her little brother.

I've just watched the Korean film #Alive, and at least that one was following some sense of logic in it. He waited it out before he acted on whether he should go or continue to stay. That stupid girl in the bunker couldn't wait it out even for just a day at least. She couldn't even make herself useful in the bunker or find out how the bunker works or what they can find in there before venturing into the unknown outside.

I don't know what went on the heads of the brilliant writers of this show. It was really below average in quality, if you compare it with other better, memorable and impactful shows you may find on Netflix. This one just made it to one of the worst finds I had on Netflix!

Despite his best efforts, for a show where humanity is under attack, you ultimately need a reason to root for at least most of the humans. The Rain never gets to the point where you’re pulling for the water droplets, but this is one barren wasteland that makes it difficult to care about anything other than surviving it.

The Rain‘s greatest strength might be its clever hand with doling out information. If post-apocalyptic fiction has become too rote and familiar over the last decade, a good mystery yarn never loses its appeal, and The Rain spins mysteries well, dropping reveals and intriguing tidbits with impeccable timing. That quality makes The Rain a great binge show.
