    I have a soft spot for books, movies and shows about magic. By definition, suspension of disbelief is mandatory to indulge this genre.

    The Magicians, with a large ensemble cast, encompasses magic, magical travel, portal travel, time travel, time loops, multiple time lines, (minor) gods, magical and mystical creatures, magical plants, various types of magic (usually) limited to    I have a soft spot for books, movies and shows about magic. By definition, suspension of disbelief is mandatory to indulge this genre.

    The Magicians, with a large ensemble cast, encompasses magic, magical travel, portal travel, time travel, time loops, multiple time lines, (minor) gods, magical and mystical creatures, magical plants, various types of magic (usually) limited to specific types of beings, numerous mystical lands, a multi-part underworld, non-permanent death, duplicity, multiple factions..............

    With two score of elements in play at every single moment of the series, there are far too many paradoxes, inconsistencies and incongruous solutions to the unending gauntlet of trials faced by the cast while traversing the six or more story lines occurring in every episode. The quantity of spurious plot twists and resolutions has an erosive effect on the viewer.    … Expand

    Darkly hilarious, emotionally complex, wildly fantastical, and a little funky—there’s nothing else like it, and that’s precisely what makes it such a joy to watch. Magic may be gone, but The Magicians’ cup runneth over with charm to spare.
