This show is made for people with low expectations. And for some of the general audience that have no idea what Lord of the Rings is. Even they will end up being disappointed by this whole season of woke nonsense!

People, Banish this show to the shadows!

No point there is no sense in this series! Seriously nothing special. Tv show that has to be the best that audience have ever seen is actually the shame itself. Tolkiens world is destroyed. And main question why? Why? Why? Why did they do that? No one knows! That is a serious mystery. If u care about Tolkiens world please don't watch this nonsense. Period! period! period!

An attempt of making a great TV show made by people who obviously have no idea how to do that. Attempts at epic dialogues which just sound cringe, massive plot holes, ridiculous character decisions, boring costumes, bad writing all over the place. The landscape shots are nice, the music is great, but that's about it. It feels like they didn't even try to make this a good show.

Poorly written Ill-conceived plot. A lack of interesting story or story development. Boring scenes that drag on without reason. Scenes that jump around and feel incongruous. Music doesn't fit what is on screen, swelling to denote importance while something mundane is being shown on screen. Unlikable protagonist.verly little upside to watching. I do not recommend.

After an extremely unpromising promo phase and utter disgusting trailers lowering expectations to an absolute minimum I am deeply disappointed by the way the elves as well as the dwarves are represented. The story itself is boring and pointless and almost makes me vomit. This series already is a clusterfck after one and a quarter episodes and should never have been made! I will go and cry now :)

The casting here is awful. You know very well what I mean. I couldn't enjoy any of this because so many of the actors just didn't look like they belonged there. The whole show is just meh. If you hate white people then it might appeal to you, but otherwise it's best avoided.

How they managed to make this show less interesting, less entertaining, than a made with spare change piece of fan fiction that you could pick up for free on a quick internet search is, quite frankly, amazoning. And why would you watch this over a re-watch of any one of the excellent movies? You Just wouldn't.

However, the worst of all was the pervertion of the Valinor's symbol: making Galadriel rejecting Valinor (which represents the Heaven, land of Light and Rest) to prefer accept the path of the Vengeance, Darkness and Death. What is their purposes to disrupt the story this way? What are they trying to say for us? that Heaven is a bad place? that Light represents evil? Certainly, this was not the symbols that Tolkien originally created for the story, and they are perverting it designedly...

Trying to inject modern themes in this world just doesn't work, it cheapens both the world and the characters, and it completely breaks immersion.

They think it's enough to call on some other creators great name and throw $$ and everyone will buy your crap. If this will be some other NOT LotR serial not pretending to be Tolkien work serial it will be probably 4/10 but as it dare to call itself Lord of the Rings and only thing it have is political correctness it don't deserve even 1/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a review for the two first episodes.

I refuse to believe people with brains are behind those 10/10 reviews. This show was an insult of intelligence. But neither does it deserve a 1/10.

Where to start? Lets start with Aman. Finrod, the dialogue between him and Galadriel is cringe and/or weird. Seems like they tried really hard to be profound. I really dislike his hair. Elf children behaving like thst in the undying lands too? It feels off. Valinor looked great tho.

There are lot weird pacing/awful cuts.

The ice climbing scene is awful. Galadriel is so far ahead and it comes off as arrogance. Yes, we get it. She is better than everyone. If they're trying show her determination, i feel they failed. And traveling in snow and ice in metal armor? That's profoundly dumb. Frostbite, she says. Yeah, no **** Her whispery voice was annoying. It annoys me that she is so annoying, because seeing the promo pictures, i thought the casting was spot on. But i guess its not the actress' fault, and more the writers/director. But by the time they reach the fortress, i really dislike her. Galadriel that is, not Morfydd. When they find the mark of sauron, one elf says why bother, it might be centuries old. So are you, you dumb stick. You're an elf ffs. Immortal. Whats a century for you?

Then they encounter a troll. It kills some of them, then Galadriel comes and beats it singlehandedly. Without an effort. Mary sue much? And there's some crouching tiger hidden dragon matrix kinda **** It was the worst part about Legolas in Lotr, and they do it here too, literally 16 minutes in

First meeting with the harfoots was ok. However, as a small traveling tribe, the ethnicities from around the world feels a bit weird. And they resemble gypsies or hobos, more than hobbits.

There's some dialogue between Elrond and Galadriel in Lindon that feels clunky. You see what they're trying to do, but they dont really nail it. Again, i blame poor writing. And again some very noticable weird cuts.
    And fireworks? Really?

Arondir bar encounter was cringe. I think the elves clothing were really nice, except fron the face on armor. I really hope they're not doing an elf/human relationship as an homage to tolkien, cause i feel that just stupid and disrespectful. Really, really hope its going to be more like Aegnor and Andreth.

The sick cow black goo was extremely, i dont know, weird, stupid? And this really felt like it happened just to make the plot happen. Again, i blame poor writing.

Gil Galad looks great. Really great casting, but the character/writing is bad/off.

Celebrimbor is so far off from what i imagined, so thats a personal negative.

The sail to aman was really good. Favourite part so far. Or the image of the two trees.

By episode two, i really dislike the harfoots. And I hope by god meteor man is not Sauron or Gandalf.

The map showing their trip to khazad dum was laughably stupid. And they're wearing the same clothes, and the whole seems like they took a 10 minute trip to their neighbour. Khazad dum looked great though.

Dwarves decent so far, but Elronds interaction with Durin and Disa felt queer. And Durin and Disa scenes felt more like a sitcom. I was really hoping to see dwarves being taken more seriously this time.

The sea monster scene was good, but the Halbrand sea scene alone with Galadriel is weird. Off. Being secretive just for intrigue? I blame poor writing here too, because i haven't seen enough of Halbrand to judge his acting.

The fact that Galadriel thought of swimming back to middle earth is so profoundly stupid. So utterly, profoundly stupid. What the... where the writers thinking?

And maybe i zoned out, but it was weird how was she suddenly awake to start swimming when she was unconcious under water?

Two durins??? Make it make sense
The scene with the orc in the house was fun.

Overall, the elves hair is effing laughable. Nitpicking but still, it all adds up to be annoying. They also feel alot like humans.

Dialogue is very weird and clunky. I think the writers was trying to hard? And were out of their depth. The pacing is bad and there are some really weird cuts. The music is good and the acting isnok for the most part. The visuals are mostly stunning. Best part about the first two episodes. Other than that, i found them very boring. It might get better, but i will only review the first two as my subscription runs out, and I have no interest i watching the rest. To summarize, its a visually stunning turkey.

I thought it couldn't get any worse than The Wheel of Time. I was wrong. Amazon Prime's the Rings of Power is poorly written, decently edited, cheap effects and the performances are... well; I shouldn't use that kind of language in public. Tolkien has his inspiration for the books from the Finnish and Scandinavian mitology. It was no homosexuality and other degenerative symptoms back then in their mitology, neither African "people", yet Amazon and their Jewish overlords trying to push that down on our throat again and again.

At one point I was literally yawning as she delivered some passionate words. This really is made for tv. There is no way this could work on the big screen. Only certain bits were watchable and they were directly copied from the LOTR movies. Like the CGI and backdrops/ landscapes. As a fan I am truly saddened by the lack of respect to the Tolkien lore. It’s is so diluted that I do not think that it will be a success. I believe this is the start of the death of the Tolkien franchises. It feels hollow, the writing is bad, it was assembled poorly and it isn’t compelling whatsoever. On top of this, Amazon is censoring the honest ratings both on IMDB and on Amazon itself. 2.

    2. Galadriel is a total Karen who wants to speak to Sauron. Awful acting by the actress 3. BronwynArondir romance is the most force

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Guys I just went in blind because Tolkien is a bad writer so who cares if this is all made up. Going in blind though, this made no sense and was really boring. Its just some nasty frigid tomboy lady with pointy ears swimming around for an hour. Why did she get on that ship if she was just going to swim around for an hour? What's a morgoth? Why are the pointy eared effeminate teenager and dwarf teenager dudes fighting like schoolkids until that big elderly dwarf lady puts them in their place? They should grow up, they don't look like teenagers, they must be at least 30 years old. Visually it looks like a cheap version of the phantom menace, but at least things happened in the phantom menace and they had laser swords. Here its just people standing around looking at a homeless man fall out of the sky for two hours. WTH none of this makes sense to me. Is there a novelization of this story somewhere to make it make sense, because I don't get any of this at all. What a waste of money, they could have helped so many people with that money, disgusting. They should have just saved that money and remastered Xena Warrior Princess in HD. That show was cheesy but at least a watchable fantasy with a much more likeable leading lady Expand

In my personal opinion the beginning of the series is quite weak. The interpretation of some canonical characters are far removed from their literary counterpart. Lady Galadriel shows an unseemly and annoying rebelliousness, adding that she shows no wisdom. Especially the fact that she lived in the kingdom of Doriath in Beleriand years ago and it seems that all teachings of Melian were left aside in this version. In reference to Lord Elrond and Celebrimbor, there is not much to say, except the physical appearance that is not very successful. The story of the elf Arondir and the woman is completely unnecessary; the argument that tries to bring the couple closer is bad and relapses into cliché. In the case of hobbits, I quite liked it. It brings freshness to the slow central argument, despite the fact that no character is canonical. Likewise, the contribution of the meteorite character generates additional intrigue. Finally, the most redeemable so far are the scenes of Kahzad dum. The characterization of the male dwarfs is very well done, even the challenge invented in the series, winks at Vala Aulë himself, the one who created the Naugrim; more resilient in all deadly physical sorrow than other races. In the end, the series does not promise what it announced, however, there may be further development as it progresses.

If I could give this a 0 star I would. I have never in all my years felt the need to leave a review but I am now. The joke that this show is, cannot seem to get worse but I guarantee it will. However once Amazon closed it's reviews to their paying customers to review the show, and also IMBD removing reviews, even here on Rotten Tomatoes deleting reviews and comments. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First I will mention the good parts so far opening scène where we can see sauron etc that looked tolkien to me. Music is another thing this series does well just not as good as the LOTR trilogy but better then expected. Also scenery looks nice and I liked the actor that plays Durin the 4th. Now onto the bad part which is all the other stuff. Galadriel is not a likeable character and does really dumb stuff in this series. She is also super strong for some reason which asks the question why does she even need a team. The story is just bland and boring. I really had trouble watching the first episode without falling asleep, second episode was a bit better in my opinion. The dialogue is horrendous and they all speak with a weird accent for some reason. Most of the characters are just boring and forgettable. The harfoots don't belong in this world and you can tell its almost like they came from some other fantasy show. There are also some really questionable scènes in this like elrond and celebrimbor travelling a huge distance only to leave celebrimbor behind so he can travel back like what?? And this is only my problem with the show on itself and I'm probably forgetting some stuff. Besides this it doesnt feel tolkien and just feels generic fantasy. They also butchered the Lore but that was expected if you only have the rights to so little. To be honest I didn't expected this show to be this bad. So much Money was spent to make this and all I can say is wow what a borefest. The acting also feel lifeless. I really have no clue what happened here but for a show this expensive this is outracious. Expand

Apparently I am in the minority, but I am really enjoying the show. Is it perfect? No, and I don’t think any show is, hence the 9 rating. With the production values alone this show can’t be 0/10. Do people even know what a 0/10 show looks like? Toddlers and Tiaras is a 0/10 show. Hanna Montana is a 0/10 show. But this? Absolutely not. Storytelling in first 2 episode is so weak and confusing.
The only positive point of the series is its gorgeous visual effects.

Those who made this series just hate Tolkien, his books and the original trilogy created by Peter Jackson. "Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made".

Seriously? It is MUCH better than what I expected. Crybabies are gonna cry like the babies they are, complaining about "wokeness" and whatever, but the fact is that the original material Tolkien wrote decades ago was already pretty loose and not very well defined and the dialogue and plot of the series fill the gaps appropriately. The forced diversity in the cast makes zero sense in the context of middle Earth and totally breaks the immersion. It is just taken for granted that there are colored halflings, dwarfs and elves. Apart from that also just didnt really get the feels, did not really care, even fell asleep at one point. And the LotR trilogy is one of my favorites in movies of all times. What i did find exhausting woth the show is it's pace. It's a glacial slow burn that doesn't really excite during it's establishing episodes, sure it feels like the groundwork for a bigger story but given that hasn't unfolded yet i consider it a fault. Beautiful visuals but an empty show. The dialogue, pacing and plot are particularly bland in this

I found it to be very slow. I wanted more action. Galadriel is so angry, she seemed almost ethereal in the PJ movies but here she seems angry and not at all otherworldly. Really liked the dwarves though. Also the elves just felt like humans. I enjoyed house of the dragon a lot more.

Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.

With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.

The Rings of Power is a reminder of what drew many of us to epic fantasy in the first place: wonder. ... This series set in an ancient realm displays one dazzling and painterly landscape after another. Power also doesn't skimp on action. [12 - 25 Sep 2022, p.10]
