How in the world could amazon spend 1 billion dollars and produce something abysmal like this?

I’m obviously such a racist for not liking horrible dialog and amateur writing - that’s the weakest deflection ever. It’s categorically bad. Chronologically it is wrong, geographically it is wrong, it’s wrong. Top it off with just generically bad production in general, it’s like they were trying to completely ruin the worlds greatest IP.

And now they are trying to blame failure on racism, bigotry etc., that is showing utter desperation..again no one cares about skin color.

A Family-appropriate, visually impressive, fun TV show. They took a lot of creative liberties and used a diverse cast, but that doesn't make it a bad show. The visuals are beautiful, the prosthetics and detail on the armors and weapons are impressive and it's entertaining. I have read Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings books over 5 times and I have seen Jackson's trilogy over 40 times and I can honestly say that I am liking this show for what it is. What did you really expect? Nothing is perfect nor ever will be.

The only thing going for this show at the moment are the visuals. The dialogue/script in genuinely aweful, every conversation is so stilted. I think everyone else have covered the issues with character developemnt the story and pacing so i'll leave that bit to them.

Later, she will be swimming in the ocean, just to find a man who she blame to be coward, after a huge monster destroyed his people (!), and they will talk about recovering a kingdom instead of urgent matters: how to survive the actual situation. This lack of danger, makes the character feel souless, I couldn't care less about Galadriel drowning.

In the Men plot: elves doing guard for 70+ couldn't have any intel about the burned village in less than a day of travel. Harfoots plot: a meteor crash very near, but none except Nori will go to look. And so on. Dialog and action are so low standard, I couldn't believe how toothless, emotionless, and tiresome this thing is.

Another Amazon show with an invisible budget. Actors cannot really act, screenwriters cannot write, props make no sense (I look at you, tin armor with posture collar (!)), sets are stuffy and claustrophobic.
The show lacks common sense, taste, and dignity.

Unwatchable disaster, even when you forget about Tolkien's view of LOTR. Completely out of touch, empty, boring and worst of all... make you not care and feel nothing. Everybody knows now it was about activism, not good writing or good acting. Woke is destroying good cinema.

Incredibly a horrendous adaptation. How can something so disgusting be made from something so sublime? Everything is a real disaster: the script, the performances, the photography, the soundtrack. It's all one misfortune after another. We are facing a garbage of monumental magnitudes, I never imagined that they could annihilate something so beautiful in such a grotesque way.

Don't know what everyone expects for the beginning of a series that is going to last for five seasons. With new characters (yes, some we already know), we must have character development. Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.

With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.
