Sep 7, 2022I don't think a review is necessary. Anyone who is a real fan of LOTR and Tolkien's work knows that ROP has nothing to do with these things.

Sep 6, 2022They can call it "Lord of the Ring" and try to ride the success of Tolkien's coattails, but this is NOT a Tolkien world, but a twisted "woke" version that is disgusting for destroying middle earth as we know it. Don't waste your time watching this insult of a series to all Tolkien fans.

Sep 3, 2022I found it to be very slow. I wanted more action. Galadriel is so angry, she seemed almost ethereal in the PJ movies but here she seems angry and not at all otherworldly. Really liked the dwarves though. Also the elves just felt like humans. I enjoyed house of the dragon a lot more.

Sep 5, 2022I thought it was garbage. It's been ruined by modern politics and trashy casting decisions.

Sep 6, 2022Empty shell, visuals were great but cringe characters and too much deviation from source material for me

Sep 6, 2022Shameless woke attempt at forcing pointless diversity down your throat using a worldwide beloved author and IP. Luckily the abysmal quality of this show will convince people that they can't just ignore the problem posed by the woke virus to contemporary western culture. How did it come this?

Sep 4, 2022It got 1 from me just because of its looks but the dialogue is so bad and tries too hard to sound intellectual by spouting word nonsense and what made me turn it off was hearing the fake hobbits with fake Irish accents, there is nothing worse as an Irish to hear English people doing bad Irish accents

Sep 6, 2022What they did to Galadriel is an absolute scandal and they generally butchered Tolkien's world. i Had high hopes when i heard about it but what i've seen is some dumb action powerfantasy with terrible writing not resembling LOTR at all

Sep 5, 2022This show has been ruined by extremely weak casting and many of the actors are unlikeable. The Harfoots were sooo boring I went to put the kettle on. Maybe one day someone will make a 'fan edit' that cuts out all the Lenny Henry scenes and black elf scenes that drag this show down, and I might watch it then, but for now I'm out.

Sep 3, 2022Those who made this series just hate Tolkien, his books and the original trilogy created by Peter Jackson. "Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made".
-
Sep 6, 2022More of this woke progressive **** They've absolutely butchered this, shouldn't even be associated with the lord of the rings.

Sep 5, 2022It's a **** show! They should not use Lord of the Rings, only rings of power. Because its not Lord of the Rings, nowhere related to it.

Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.

With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.

The Rings of Power is a reminder of what drew many of us to epic fantasy in the first place: wonder. ... This series set in an ancient realm displays one dazzling and painterly landscape after another. Power also doesn't skimp on action. [12 - 25 Sep 2022, p.10]
