Sep 2, 2022Very good actors. Simply amazing (sarcasm). I am for maximum closeness to the original source and authenticity.
-
Sep 22, 2022There may be some good moments, but show is at times very boring and slow-paced. The writing is also more like a mediocre German soap-opera than Tolkien's "unwritten book".

Sep 22, 2022Laughably bad writing, a boring, meandering plot full of unlikable cardboard characters make this a show to avoid. Amazon mass deleting negative reviews of Rings of power AGAIN on their website. Hundreds vanished overnight in the UK alone while 5 star reviews sail through, whatever the content.
Dishonest doesn't even begin to describe Amazon's approach on this expensive flop. -
Sep 21, 2022A soulless attempt at recreating the beauty of Tolkiens works. 10 points deducted for bad writing, dialogue, pacing, costume, casting and acting. One point added back, because some of the wide shots were nice.

Sep 20, 2022I made it to episode 3 before I tapped out, terrible on all aspects. Slow, boring, no likeable characters , nothing to do with Tolkien, just a really bad show trying to hitch a ride off of a name.
-
Sep 20, 2022I've read the criticism and some are valid however given that this is the second age, not much is known even by Tolkien himself. I rather enjoy the show and look forward each week to watching it.

-
Sep 20, 2022Great production values, good performances, generally, good writing. Didn't really care for using the dwarves as comic relief, it jars with the tone of the rest of the story. this isn't The Hobbit and the worst of Jackson's work should be left behind.
-
Sep 20, 2022As a fan of all Tolkiens writings its sad to see the condensed timelines and lore rewrites, but I understand the issues with obtaining the Silmarilion IP and the 3000 years the show needs to cover. I like the visuals and the acting, the cast is doing a good job with what they got but I cant give it 10/10 with the extreme lore inaccuracy.

Sep 20, 2022I have not read the books but have enjoyed RoP thus far. Not sure why all the hate. A good story takes time to tell and they need to build up the world first before diving in head first. Give it till the end of season 1 before you can really know.
-
Sep 20, 2022I don't get the trolling of this show since it's enjoyable to watch. Even if you don't like it the production is beautiful. It is leaving me guessing as to what's going to happen next.

Sep 20, 2022Ignore the review bombers. The show is not only visually beautiful, it also shows a deep love for Tolkien's rich history, and features interesting characters.

Sep 19, 2022After watching half of season 1, it's clear the show is rich in style and poor in substance. Each episode barely moves the plot along, several characters feel completely unnecessary, the star character is insufferable, and the dialogue is borderline cringeworthy. The writers need a major course-correction in season 2 if this series has any hope.

Sep 19, 2022Estoy cansado de la maldita obsesión de hollywood de crear inclusion. Con ese afan se defecaron en la obra del gran T
-
Sep 19, 2022Phenomenal performance by the actors and actresses involved, and although it's not exactly complicated, i think it mostly remains faithful to the books.

Sep 19, 2022Looks like my review dissapeared so here it goes again. The show is horrible, boring, the cast is insufferable, specially Galadriel. The plot is dull and not close to anything Tolkien would ever write
-
Sep 19, 2022It looks great, but the writing and story development is amateurish. It’s a chore to watch, sadly. It’s better than the “Wheel of Time” series from Amazon, but that is a very low bar to step over.

Sep 18, 2022Me parece un insulto hacia la obra de Tolkien
Nada tiene sentido, no soporto el personaje de Galadriel (y los demas tampoco ), me aburre y realmente no veo razones para seguir viendola -
Sep 10, 2022Show is terrible. Violations of lore abound. Pacing bad. Cast quality bad. Story bad. Dialogue terrible. CGI good. Musical score good. Nothing Tolkien but in name. No innovative or inspired writing whatsoever. Not sure who this show is for or why they decided to throw out all of the known facts about characters.

Sep 18, 2022How can this happen? Who does it please? Why are they pandering to extreme leftists? Are extremists the target audience? Why can't there be comprising? How is a female acting like a male pig empowering? Where is the spotlight on feminine tropes?
It's all just so empty and meaningless. -
Sep 18, 2022Bad writing, bad acting, bad story progression, stupid instant traveling between far places and the icing on the cake one of the worst most hated protagonist in TV shows and movies "the spoiled little brat Guyladriel"
-
Sep 18, 2022Average at best with too much appropriation and watering down of Tolkienian lore.
-
Sep 2, 2022Es una buena serie, destaca, la ambientación, fotografía, vestuario, apenas van dos capítulos y me dejaron con ganas de ver más, espero evolucione y nos de una muy buena primera temporada

Sep 17, 2022Very disappointed. The show has too many clichés, the protagonists have very thich plot armour and there are too many conveniences. Pair this with huge lore problems and irrational casting decisions (there are sub-saharan dwarves ?) and this show just let me down completely. I feel empty and sad.

Sep 17, 2022One of the best shows i've ever seen, surely the best fantasy series. Every character is likable in its own way, it's very hard to pick one favourite.
-
Sep 17, 2022A corruption of Tolkien.
The scenic views are pretty, everything else is bad.
The story, the characters, the lazy writing : not worth a minute of your time. -

Sep 16, 2022This show is bad in so many ways. But the script, the editing, the dialogues. The episode 4 was the worst. A mess.
-
Sep 16, 2022One of the best TV series until now, wait a second, it's a series or a big high budget Hollywood next gen movie? Maybe at first impact don't condense the action the adventurous vibe like the Peter Jackson Trilogy, but it definitely build up with time and the storyline is way twisted and mysterious.
-

-
Sep 16, 2022The show is great! Peeps just angry being familiar solely with Jackson's works, and not Tolkien's the Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales
-
Sep 16, 2022I must admit that some of the scenes is splendid. Yet I can't help but be ashamed due to the scenario. Just embarrassing. I am not talking about Tolkien standards but come on! Cheap writing. Also, where are nonbinary people? I am offended. I feel discriminated against.

Sep 15, 2022Just another adaptation that has no respect to its sources. Forced diversity just for the sake of diversity is just lame.
-
Sep 3, 2022Not bad at all. I was a bit hesitant and somewhat uninerested to revisit middle-earth once again but I'll continue watching due to the high production values and good action scenes. If you rate this show below a 5 then you're either an idiot or a liar.

Sep 15, 2022I'm enjoying the show, although it's been fairly slow and the third episode felt very disjointed, especially with the violence that felt amateur. The casting is fine...

Sep 14, 2022So far great adaptation! Pity for "fans" that complain about a adaptation... if you dont like, dont watch... the books still there, no one change it...
-
Sep 13, 2022Rings of Power is a boring series based on a scenario by elementary school students. The elves (indistinguishable from humans) with watchtowers scattered over a wide area and keen eyesight were suddenly all captured by the orcs and you didn't even bother to show it. And almost the entire show is filled with such illogical events. Pleasant only CGI (sometimes) and scenery.

Sep 13, 2022i fell asleep during eps1. eps2 was a little better. eps3 i think im done.
1 star is because it does look pretty, except for the orcs warg (this looked really bad)
wooden acting. written by rejected CW writers. -
Sep 13, 2022It's serviceable at best which isn't ok for such an IP and budget. This isn't just another show, this could should of been THE show of our life time. Additionally none of the changes that were made were necessary and just a slap in the face that takes us out of the immersion.
-
Sep 13, 2022If Ed Wood had filmed Beowulf it would probably turn out better; at least it would have been endearingly hopeless, not just hopelessly bad.

Sep 13, 2022This show is terrible. It is as slow as possible. Galadriel is absolutely far from the original image and causes only irritation. The creators could not clearly tell a single story, and this is not surprising, this show has almost nothing to do with Tolkien's books. Maybe all the people involved in the creation of this series should have read his works at least once?
-
Sep 13, 2022Just another adaptation that has no respect to its sources. And no, you cannot hide behind the "this era is not mentioned in any written sources bla bla bla". It is obviously imposing a political agenda to the audience.

Sep 12, 2022Barely barely "woke". I wouldn't even have noticed if not for the review bombs. Production and effects are top notch. Acting and script is decent enough. Storyline is a bit slow thus far, but I expect good things based on the interesting foundation already set. I'm thoroughly engrossed.

Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.
-
With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.
-
The Rings of Power is a reminder of what drew many of us to epic fantasy in the first place: wonder. ... This series set in an ancient realm displays one dazzling and painterly landscape after another. Power also doesn't skimp on action. [12 - 25 Sep 2022, p.10]
