Elves don't look like LoTR elves, female dwarves didn't have beards, Galadriel is not likeable in any way (even by the other elves), Elrond is bland and the only being that puts up with Galadriel, and the harfoots seem out of place in the world. I did like the set designs.

I wanted to give it a chance, I really tried...but I was not able to finish the two episodes. Every character is just not interesting, the dialogs are so superficial and boring, and the pace of the move is way to slow, and nothing really happens. I really can't find anything positive aside from the CGI which sometimes seems a bit...too much.

Guy-ladriel bears no resemblance to the character Tolkien wrote and was wonderfully portrayed by Cate Blanchett in the Jackson movies. This “version” is as snotty as the entitled white bread little girl playing the character. No acting going on. And the Elmer Fudd guy with pointy ears is pathetic. The scenes between Guy-ladriel and Elmer Fudd are a joke. The writing, characters and acting in this show are atrocious. The “hobbits” are stupid and obnoxious. The show would have been better without them. Most of the dialogue in the show is pathetic. It’s like something written for a high school freshmen dull writing class. To think thousands of Amazon workers had to piss in bottles so this travesty could be made. The show should not exist. It’s a waste of time and resources. Even worse than I thought it would be, with a laughably bad script, wooden acting and outright disrespectful casting. There is zero respect for Tolkien’s lore. And I am not talking about all those woke elements, I didn’t actually mind them. I am talking about making an epic fantasy into a Shrek tv show. Most of the characters are totally miscasted, Galadriel especially has zero charm, zero talent. Numenor’s queen looks like a fat pig. All the others poor actors look like cheap cosplayers

The plot is really miserable, blunt, stupid and boring. The scene where they show Faenor’s hammer, clean, new and shiny, and then they talk about the silmarilis is a precise example how random, superficial and barbaric this show is

Amazon has vandalized Tolkien's legacy with this show. The familiar characters have been completely perverted from how Tolkien wrote them and too many are insufferable to watch. Where is Tolkien's beautiful dialogue and heroic figures that have inspired generations around the world? There are so many departures from the source material that it does not even merit the title "Lord of the Rings." This show should not qualify as an "adaptation" nor even be considered "inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien." The writing is plagued with continuity problems, a lack of even a basic, let alone satisfying, hero's journey, shallow, and dare I say broken, morality, low stakes, lacking payoffs, poor drama, an odd tone, ridiculous action scenes, plot holes with plot armor for certain characters you are told to like or else, mountains of laughable retcons, entirely made-up characters, which the original source was not lacking in, and absolutely horrific dialogue. It is downright insulting. For how much money was spent, somehow the production still appears tacky, cheap, and corny. How could this happen? Little thought was put into the costumes and make-up, minor details that are distinctly Tolkien were overlooked, it is lacking in practical scenery and effects, and the environment feels like an entirely artificial realm with fake landscapes and scenery created by a computer-definitely not the enchanting world of Middle Earth. This show substitutes heart and heroics for disdain and lecture, scolding the darkness in humanity rather than guiding us to the light and teaching us the value of sacrifice and selflessness. With all the gaping flaws of this show, Amazon tried to gloss this soulless monstrosity with a shiny layer of CGI, and it sticks out painfully like a sore eye instead of a lasting impression on the mind's eye. The pacing is disjointed, the editing is choppy, and the score is off-putting. The audience is not transported to Middle Earth when watching and listening to this spectacle, rather taken out of it entirely. My mood while viewing went from utter shock, to frustration, to disappointment, to indifference, to the final twin blows of boredom and apathy. Anything distinct and authentic are replaced by the generic and superficial. It is obvious the producers of this show merely want to syphon money from the worldwide fanbase, shove its agenda on audiences, and pander to folks in the most disrespectful, dishonest, disingenuous, and degrading way. To which I respond with a bold, "Do not watch." Dare I say unsubscribe for such offenses too? I would personally. This show was created to sucker and shame people, a complete farce propped up by abysmal marketing that exhausts viewers to "watch it or else!" and threatens potential viewers "do not dare criticize!" while shamelessly destroying the legacy of the most beloved fantasy series in the world. How was this allowed to be made! Is there no end to the lies promoting and protecting this show? Stop trying to sell us a broken product. We are not buying this Hollywood slop. Disregard with every fiber of your being the shillery celebrating, promoting, and defending Amazon Studios' The Rings of Power. The Middle Earth we love and know may very well be lost otherwise for future generations. If you've read this far I would simply conclude: Read the books instead!

This series is visually stunning and seeing the dwarfes outplay the entire remaining cast was fefreshing. Especially Durins wive is a fresh breath of air.

Galadriel isn’t true to galadriel, she is insatiable and obnoxious. Where the fellowship of the rings inlcuding a mayar gandalf and a woodland elf legolas struggles immensely to kill a cave troll and almost lost frodo, galadriel makes quick melee action in bollywood style and ruins it in anticlimactic fashion. Yikes

Lord Elrond/not a lord yet, is a weak beta male played by an actor too you and soft. Elves don’t age that slow and poorly.

Overall the elves dont feel like elves, they lack grandeur and grace. The music apart from khazad dum is awful. Most scenes feel like a small town screenplay wrapped in shiny cinematics.

Failed to capture me and loathed the two hours.

It looks like a group of college larpers were given a budget to re-enact some poorly written fan-fiction. The black elves/hobbits also take you completely out of the show since the only reason they are present is due to political ideology as well as corporate pandering.

It's impossible to see a black elf and not immediately see the corporate string pulling behind it, taking you completely out of the world every time he's on-screen. This is an abomination to Tolkein and to Jackson's LOTR trilogy. This series is to LOTR what modern art is to Da Vinci. A soulless, pretentious travesty.

The dialogue in particular is very bad, it's the type of crap you see boomer's share on facebook that 'sounds' deep on a surface level but it's actually genuinely meaningless drivel, taking up screen time.

I was so excited to see a new part of the world. On watching the show, I have to say, I am greatly disappointed and left highly unsatisfied. The show is slow, boring and lore breaking. It borderline laughs in Tolkien's face and I do not appreciate it. It’s taken a wonderful franchise based inspired British Folklore and washed away the character and you are left with an extremely bland fantasy show. The characters are nothing but annoying. The plot is already frustrating and the writing is rough. I will not be finishing the series as it clearly isn’t created for fans of the IP. It seems that this show has been made to attract children and Game of Thrones stragglers. I understand branching out to attract a larger audience however not to the stage that IP do many loved, gets watered down to the point of been an entirely differ franchise. I don’t think that their is any salvaging this show and I hope that the next people to take on this franchise actually are fans and don’t just want to recreate things to their own vision while ruining all that payed before. I hope this show gets cancelled so no more money is wasted on this and it can be release to a company that can do it justice. Definitely would not recommend if you are a Tolkien fan. The scenery and CGI are very good and the Middle Earth setting is interesting with great source material to draw from so the problem lies with the script writers and people in charge of the show. I have heard that filming of season 2 has been delayed, so Amazon could correct their mistakes. I would suggest they need to sack the writers and the main showrunners and bring in a new team to make major revisions. The Rings of Power instead gives us girl bosses, diversity hires, political correctness, and a rehash of stuff from LOTR looking to cynically mine our nostalgia so Amazon can collect some more super berries tax free because its incorporated in Bermuda. The problem is that it is bloated. Its clear they tried their best to maintain visuals on par with the films but they should have focused more on the story telling and pacing.

This is far from a problem that plagues this show as the new GoT spinoff has the exact same problem.

With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.
