    Same thing i writte in the series review, they should have know what they want before start filming, they get stuck in the middle of no mans land, nor good faithfull adaptation nor its own separate take of the story.

    Not my cup of tea. I was moderately interesred, halfway episode 2, then I learn that ep 3 is some sort of homosexual romantic flick.
    I quitted then and there, as I do not emotionally rom coms nor homosexuality. Hence a round zero.

    A lot of violent moments were cut from the series, and a lot was done with the transition to blackout, which is a little strange in an adult story about the apocalypse, they also changed some plot points, but they are not critical, as a whole, the series is interesting to watch

    A Beautiful Disappointment.
    Not as good as the game... the acting, the pacing, the interactions, the lack of infected and marauders or bandits, unnecessary side stories, deviations from the main story-line. Feels rushed.
    The best parts of the TV show are 1-for-1 recreations of the game & the gorgeous scenery of a dead world.

I watched all episodes of the last of us tv series, and its not bad, it's definitely in no way superior to the game at all, not even close, however, it does expand on some areas and changes in the plot because of budget, yes I noticed. HBO should have given more money to VFX because infected in a TV series where infected affects the environment and the moral of theFinally, review time.     If only there were a template of some sort like a game that could tell you about certain events that include infected, well I guess they just brushed over every single part that included infected because let me tell you in simple terms. The amount of scenes with action, infected and violent scenes shows me that the apocalypse is possibly better than real-life.

    Other than that there were some unnecessary changes, because of certain "cultural" notions. Some of the characters are not taken directly from the source.

    Pedro Pascal as Joel does a superb job, but I feel that the Dialogue given was lacking from the writers and scripters.

    Bella Ramsey also does a great job as Ellie. Great Job kiddo.

    Rating time:
    Story and Plot: 7/10, wait, isn't the last of us story a masterpiece? It is but there were so many unnecessary changes to characters, scenes, and pacing that affected the quality and the powerfulness of the TV show's plot.
    Cast and Acting: 8/10, Very nice but lacking some dialogue, weird cast changes and choices, but the acting is nearly spot on.
    VFX: 8/10, Done really well, but again lacking in areas where there needs to be during the plot.
    Adaption Quality: 7/10, It's good but misses the mark by far.

    Overall, 7/10, I know it's meant to be 7.5 but I don't give points for free, not only that I am being particularly hard on This TV show because the game exists as the perfect form and original source.
    This show was close to nailing it but was pushed down by a lot of changes in plot, characters etc.

    I don't know who thought by changing events of a perfect story would be good, it's like ordering a steak but instead of a steak you get a well-made chicken schnitzel, good but not what I wanted.

    As for the future of the TV series, I hope Pedro Pascal is ready for some Golfing.

    About the changes, I don't dislike them, it's just they did not affect the plot, it was just an excuse to get through a certain part quicker than normal. Maybe if you add some unexpected consequences it might keep viewers interested instead of just knowing what happens.

    Another thing is not to change important and impactful parts of the story, you can change for Season 2 though because The Last of Us Part 2 was pretty bad in the story department. But if your going to continue the Journey with Joel and Ellie(Young) then I'm Very much interested, we haven't seen that before.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i've been waiting a few episodes to see how i felt. after the 5th im in, fully committed. ellie took a little to win me over but i think that was just progression for the show. acting, sets, costumes, sound, the general ambiance of the world, the horror aspects, they are just nailing all the important elements of the first game while putting their own spins on smaller details. i really hate seeing the weird complaints but specifically about sarah seems strange. not even going to re type their reason but its not an issue the actress does every bits as good a job as the game portraying that emotional scene and all the added scenes with her were great. if you forced me to be petty i would say sarah is slightly too old compared to the game, but joels older so sarah is too. henry and sam, damn that was harder to watch for some reason. the 2 actors were very good and the impact their characters left on ellie and joel is felt immediately as the episode closes. im hopeful now as someone who doesn't love part 2's story that they will be able to tell it in a way fans like myself will be able to connect to and receive better than the game. it may not live up to the game in the end but this is easily the best show i've seen since breaking bad or early season of game of thrones.… Expand

    Stick it in my veins it's so good. Action, emotion, depth it's got it all and delivers on every front with superb performances carrying the entire show. Somehow this dystopian, traumatic story which keeps you tense and on edge manages to also be a cosy enjoyable watch?! Credit to the chemistry between Bella and Pedro in achieving that. Okay it's a tad video gamey at points and is almostStick it in my veins it's so good. Action, emotion, depth it's got it all and delivers on every front with superb performances carrying the entire show.     Great adaptation of the game and very close to it. Absolutely phenomenal!! Finally a show and game not about zombies, but about an existing fungus in our nature already. As a fan of the game the show couldn't be better. Visuals, set, casting, performances and pacing are all great. 2nd episode got even better. whohhooo :-)

    Episodes 1 and 2 were ok.
    Episode 3 was unnecessary, it was a pointless side-story with no impact on the main story.
    If this is the direction the show is going this will get worst as episodes are released.

As a gay guy, I appreciated the fact that they were highlighting a relationship that was present in the game, but the way it was done came off as a poorly-wrought soap opera something that Lucille Bluth could have written while on a bender, rather than something realistic to actual gay relationships or at all coming close to the characters portrayed in the game.

    Pedro Pascal is the only shining light in this series that gives it any kind of dramatic power and prestige. I would have liked two episodes with the gay couple and make it about them being with Ellie and Pedro while cracking jokes, engaging in witty humor, and killing zombies. Instead, we got this soap opera straight of of Days of Our Lives or The Bachelor with people ponderously gazing out windows and crying buckets of tears every few scenes. It was nice that they started out with the badass gun collection, handyman skillset, and manly way to subvert the typical gay stereotypes, but then the piano scenes and everyone crying 24/7 and giggling over strawberries rubbed me the wrong way. Rather than a tale of badasses, it went out with a whimper and a tear. Even staying true to the anger with the original game end to the couple would have been tougher and more manly and more gay in my opinion. But what do I know, I'm just a gay guy that was unimpressed with the direction. They ruined my man Ron Swanson like this and did this couple that was far more humorous and witty dirty by bad directing.    … Expand

    There are long boring charcter dialogues that doent captivate. There are no monsters or zombies - could be any show like walking dead, but the boring parts.
    * Update - this show is rediculously boring and dumb. A bad walking dead, which was also just a dumb drama.

    Ellie is one of the most beloved video game characters of all time & to cast Bella Ramsey for her role is a really bad joke. There are so many other qualified legit actresses that would have been perfect for her role I cant help but wonder if there was nepotism involved in her casting. I cringe every time she tries to mimic Ellie, its not even close to working.     First episode down. This show is fantastic. As close to the game as we can get without sacrificing acting quality. Yes, Bella doesn't look like Ellie. But she acts just like her. Would people rather have a perfect visual representation of the fictional character, or would they rather have someone who can portray the character convincingly?     When I see a minor role cast really well - I have a feeling that a production is going to be very good... because corners are not cut, and quality is important to the people working on the film. So, when a minor role like "Sarah" is cast perfectly with someone like Hana Hayes I anticipate a high-quality product.

    HBO turns out high quality films - so, it is no surprise to see this one well reviewed... like deciding if the latest HBO film is going to be a 7, a 10 or something in-between is foregone conclusion.

    I'm guessing Pedro Pascal as Joel and Anna Torv as Tess are going to be almost always regarded as very good casting. But, Bella Ramsey as Ellie is probably going to be controversial. I'm guessing the producers were looking for a tough, un-feminine personality and somewhat boxed themselves into those limiting criteria. Anna Tov obviously falls into that type-cast. I'm guessing Bella Ramsey will do a good job... but, I'm thinking the producers are trying too hard to toughen up the character.

    I know from experience that you can't judge a film series by the first episode. Especially the first episode which basically has the purpose of setting up the remainder of the series. By the time I've watched the first season, I may come back and change my score. Same thing when I've watched the entire series.

    By the way, I've never played the game - so, I had no preconceptions - which would be irrelevant regardless.    … Expand

    I made myself a nice warm latte and started this text just to say 2 things: one– this show is absolutely magnificent in every possible aspect; and two– this coffee tastes even better while reading the reviews of bigots and incels who haven't even been able to dent the User Score.     "...it was fine." - was how my wife felt about this HBO show after episode 9 drew to a close. And it was. it was also fashionably woke and a tad slow, with budget restraints that elevated it just slightly higher than your average fan fiction. The game was much better, sorry but it was. 3 stars for the 3 clickers that appeared in the entire show.

Played the first game and it's one of my personal favorites, and many people also rate it highly. In the first episode, I came away with mixed feelings some good and some not so good from what I saw. The big positive is Pedro pascal he's a great Joel and I hope we can see him get better. I like how they set up the world and made it such a miserable cold place and Pedro is great at conveying the hell he lives in on a daily basis. Some shots from the tv show will never live up to the game because you are in a third-person view watching this hell occur around these people and I prefer that to the television, but that's one of the practicalities of playing a video game vs a TV show. Sarah the daughter of Joel is played by an 18-year-old actress and despite them trying to make her young she's not the sweet innocent girl we get in the game, The TV show version has more of a teenage attitude and that's a big downgrade from the original work. In the scene where Sarah dies it didn't feel the same despite the acting being great from both, especially Pascal OMG he really is this show's ace. Now Ellie...... jury is still out on her. The actress who plays her started coming off as aggressive as hell right out of the gate and my impression of Ellie in the games upon meeting her was of a girl that was more reserved trying to not show her hand or reveal too much about herself because people come and go. They made her more snarky which sucks, I hope she's not this off-putting in the rest of the show because that's a big blow to the dynamic and anyone's viewing experience if she continues. Also, the relationship between Marlene and Ellie was just crammed in there to fill up space I'd rather they not even show them together until they met Joel because they had no reason to even care for each other, just keep it vague. Also, we didn't get a lot of action this week, hoping we get some great fight scenes and shootouts later but so far nothing. I'll be watching Next week and hopefully, it gets better, I wanna like this more than I do because I love the first game, but these are my feeling so far.… Expand

Maybe some day people these show creators will find out that people who loved the original story want to see something similar both in terms of characters AND setting with visuals. Not just the second thing.

    Tess isn't the Tess from the game, she is more like a drugo/drinker personality and not the leader like the game. Ellie may grow on me but the moment she swears is a cringe moment. I'm not sure on eille. Joel doesn't try hard enough with his accent, but he is a good actor but not a joel.

    The death scene of Sarah was needing to be longer and more emotional with words etc and again Sarah is to old for the role.

    The jump scare in the second half was silly and not scary lol. I hope it gets better and again the first half was 10/10 then 20 years later scene was lame/boring except for Marlene.    … Expand

    Sencillamente fabuloso. Está todo perfectamente construido. Incluso para la versión española (de España) han mantenido las mismas voces que el juego. A su vez todo es muy reconocible respecto al juego inlcuso compartiendo frases y escenas

    La adaptación ha superado con creces mis expectativas.

Podríamos decir que estamos ante una obra bastante revolucionaria en cuanto adaptaciones de videojuegos a series respecta, ya que el tan aclamado y galardonado director de chernobyl, se atrevió a ir más allá de las fronteras y expandir la famosa historia de los iconicos personajes de Joel y Ellie, dándonos así otra perspectiva del juego y ofreciéndonos detalles únicos que nos ayudan a empatizar más con los personajes y entender mejor ciertos matices de la historia. Algunas escenas como la muerte de Sarah, son ligeramente modificadas para que el espectador veterano de la saga de videojuegos the last of us no tengan la sensación de estar viendo lo mismo que en el juego. El factor Neil Druckman en la serie de televisión es bastante notorio, dándole así un sabor fresco a la serie pero sin salirse de las pautas del juego orginal.     A show with 9 episodes about an zombie apolalypse, theres no zombies, only in 2 episodes, why sacrifice a girl? Its only post black Friday, the world is as wealthy as is in 2023, same idiots still live their usual lifes, damn ucraine is more apocalytic than that empty world.

    Overhyped show to an overhyped game. The story isn't really that extraordinary. Stories like this have been told countless times. In the game it kinda works a little, because you are more immersed into it. But as a show it's just another zombie show. And seriously we've had enough of those by now.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly, I’d like to say that I’ve only watched the first episode. That said, I’ll not spoil anything for anyone, although I will emphasise that the first episode is similar to the game, while there are slight changes here and there.

    So, I was lucky enough to watch the first episode in 4K, and may I add that I was pleasantly surprised! I was able to watch a beautifully crafted episode, which resonated with the game, not identically, but enough so that I knew where the episode was going in relation to the game. However, while completing the game over 15 times, learning each segment of the game, and memorising each interaction almost word for word, it didn’t spoil my viewing experience at all.

    The first episode is based on how the world was, how it developed into an apocalypse and the processes in between. It was refreshing as I got a glimpse of life before the outbreak in The Last of Us universe.

    While the episode was entertaining, there weren’t many ‘scary’ bits. I felt the zombie scenes were too reserved, but I suppose I have that to look forward to next week.

    All in all, the first episode had me gripped. There were very similar nuances that were true to the game, while some aspects were changed.

    I’m pretty happy to give the first episode a strong 10/10.    … Expand

    Absolutely fantastic. Everything about the show is incredible. I can’t believe I was an Xbox fan for so long. PlayStation studios is god tier, and their narratives transcend mediums to reach broader audiences and all halo did was show us chiefs back side.

    The truth is, this adaptation does not convince me, it does not bring anything new, I hope this series improves, it is only the first chapter so I have hope but while I am disappointed

    Compared to the other dystopian shows out there, this is clearly in the "Walking Dead" camp, not the much higher "Station Eleven" category. All the tropes are in there. TWD 's nihilism was very refreshing and poignant back in the days (season 2 and 3). Besides it is inferior to the "Girl with all the Gifts" which has the exact same plot.

    Amazing.

    As a huge LOU fan, they nailed it in every aspect. Don't listen to the people who say it was miscast -- a lot of them piss their pants, scared if there is even a HINT of a different shade to the character's original color. Quite pathetic, really.

    I played The Last of Us Part 1 many years ago on the PS3. It was one of those life changing experiences that will stick with me forever. One of the best stories ever told in entertainment IMO. I’ve come back to it on every generation of consoles since to relive the excellence of the story telling. That being said, I was extremely pleased at how they were able to hold true to the source material (which seems like a rare thing nowadays) and truly capture the feel of the game. Changes have been made, but not mindless changes just to be noticed and different. The changes that have been made were deliberate and calculated. As a recap, I was very very pleased and I have trust in HBO to take care of this beloved story. Hope the rest of the season can keep up.… Expand

    Suffering somewhat from comparisons to Station Eleven, The Last of Us premiere is at least propulsive, exciting and disturbing. Hopefully it can shed its shades of The Walking Dead and reach Station heights.

    This is a great adaptation, Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal are amazing as Ellie and Joel. There are many identical scenes and there is gaps from the game filled by the tv show that only adds more depth to the characters and the story

    I love the people upset at the casting of artificial characters made in a game engine. The actual actors playing these characters do an amazing job and these 0 ratings are ppl obviously upset at the race swapping.

    That being said the actual show is amazing and expands on the game and changes subtle things to make it fresh and less predictable. Joel, Sarah and Tommy look like they are from three different continents! They are related by blood! At least cast people who look a bit alike if they are to be brothers, daughters, etc. Pedro tries his best, but he is not able to pull off Joel with conviction. And Bella Ramsey is simply not right for the role of Ellie. She was overacting in almost all her scenes. They really should have cast actors based on their acting skills instead of popularity.

    Another concern is the story. Beneath the glossy high budget HBO production, this is still the same old zombie tale. And video games in general aren't made to translate well to tv/movies.
    Whether they can keep it interesting or it fizzles out into another bland tv show without any substance, remains to be seen.    … Expand

    Such a great adaptation; adding little parts to add more depth to the story but still stay true to the source material is a triple A series in my eyes. so far the casting has done an exceptional job bringing they’re characters to life especially Pedro Pascal and I’m looking forward to the remaining episodes.

    The first impression is that it is a bit slow. However, already knowing the story and the ending, it lacks suspense and doesn't really draw me in. It's as if I've already seen the season.

    A very faithful and engaging adaption of the video game that is very well shot, put together and filled with actors giving it their all. Expands on the world and the story while retaining much of what you experienced in the game. A must watch for anybody who has played The Last Of Us, or just anybody looking for a good story and show to watch.

But I did not enjoy the first episode, I was actually a little bored. Everything after Sarah's death was a bit mind numbingly boring. The best part of the show was Sarah, she did a great job, but everything else kinda just sucked.

    Xbox user are so desperate with "0" reviews kkkkkk... Just like the Game, this first episode was a lesson in how to make an adaptation. Even though some characters are quite different physically from the game, the actors are very talented and bring that "affliction" from the the first game.

    Thought the 4rd episode was good, in fact compared to the previous ones was way better but once you compare it face to face to the games cutscenes... o boy its a cheap version, pedro is ok, not great but ok, but bella ramsey its not at the level needed, she has less range than stallone, should take more interpretarion lessons.
