This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So far the show is great adaptation of the game, great acting, great effects. The third episode is heartbreaking but well written, I loved and hated it lol, mainly because it's just too sad. I've been a long time fan of the game and I welcome the changes to the show, it is just so well done Expand

Ignore the MASSIVE amount of homophobic small brained mouth breathers review bombing due to their insecurities. This episode was amazing. Acting was fantastic and really gave Joel and Ellie a great moral starting point with Bills last letter.

Not that good, could have been better if they attached 100% to games screenplay.

Its a bad adaptation, could be a good tv show but if you want to experience the story at its peak quality go play the game. Its leagues ahead in writing. All the changes of the show are for worse:

Its a bad adaptation, could be a good tv show but if you want to experience the story at its peak quality go play the game. Its leagues ahead in writing. All the changes of the show are for worse:

the cordyceps and those **** spaghettis in mouth (like WTF) and hive mindset makes the concept to be like any other zombi movie/show instead the natural infection of the game that occurs in real life.

The character of Tess has nothing to do with the game one, she was badass, as dangerous as Joel (nearly killed Ellie when she knew she was infected), almost the gangster queen of the quarentine zone. In the show is so soft, bad survivor and absolute idiot in that final scene that its a bad joke comparing to the one of the game.

Bill its also nerfed in the show. In the game he is so badass he had the controll of a entire town, but the town itself is dangerous full of traps, clickers and runners, even a bloater, (he even use some infected as defense against the hunters surrounding Lincoln). In the show its only a neighborhood and its as clean as a todays stores showcase, even after 20 years of apocalypse.
He is so incompetent as a survivor that he exposed himself in the middle of the road tho get a shot!
Game's Bill would have killed this **** tv Bill in one second. Also he didnt even meet Ellie, what a disappointment, they had a really interesting interaction.

And after 3 episodes Ellie is still a non like able girl, very badly portrayed by the actress and the changes on her behaviour makes her a worse character (even if they are subtle changes, all of them are for worse and are killing the characters evolution that is so well done in the game). It hurts but after the expectations, Bella Ramsey its one of the worst casting choices ever made, period.

Loved the first Last of Us game. I watched the first 2 episodes of the show and thought ok a bit boring but decent enough. Then came episodes 3. One hour and 20 mins of complete filler. I had to fast forward most of it as it was so boring. What a let down.

This show is doubtlessly awesome and impeccable and i believe fans should stop hating on it just because it went beyond the lore-imposed borders. What’s the point in watching a brand-new SHOW simply BASED on the original game if you resent every alteration made? Shills and NPCs giving this 9s and 10s (after one episode) on rating sites I see. I wouldn't give my fave series/films of all time a 10. Very bizarre.

This still pales massively in comparison to the game in every way so far. Mostly the scenes are nowhere near as impactful as their source counterpart. The game came at a time somewhat just before the whole zombie thing wasn't

This still pales massively in comparison to the game in every way so far. Mostly the scenes are nowhere near as impactful as their source counterpart.

The game came at a time somewhat just before the whole zombie thing wasn't absolutely done to death, and it was mainly the stellar performances, the bond the characters had, and the editing that made the game and set it apart. Today, it has to be at least equal or better or it's just another beyond-tired zombie show. Hopefully, it'll win me over in the coming weeks and I'll alter this review/rating.

    Episode 3:
As agenda-pushing at it felt, I wouldn't have been okay with it if they were straight either. It was a perfectly fine "filler" type episode..but damn, they're telling the entire 1st game's story in just 9 episodes and they're "wasting" it with stuff like this?

There are only 6 episodes left... But gaining brownie points is higher on the list than telling the game's main story I suppose.

I like the fact that they changed the race of Joel's daughter and that she is black now ! Pedro Pascal is really good as Joel also.

The only "bad" thing that I could think of is that sometimes, I'm not sure why, in some shots, Bella Ramsey makes me think of Gollum from The Lord of The rings... it's maybe from the way she moves or something.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Joel dies early in season 2. Just in case you don't know. As a huge fan of the first game, I was excited for this season. Then it quickly became obvious that, just like with the second game, the team involved in adapting this story have again decided to focus on all the unimportant, trivial aspects of the story. To give you an example, there isn't a single straight white man in the show that isn't evil lol. Episode 3 is nothing but Ron Swanson making out with another guy with a big beard, the whole episode. They completely forgot to introduce Bill since they were so caught up in telling us about his boyfriend and how much they love rubbing their beards together. I was invested, but episode 3 took me out. No need to tune in on Sundays anymore. I don't know who they made this show for, but whoever they are, I hope they love it lol. Expand

This world would never fail to entertain or keep the viewer at the edge of their seat, but sadly, the creators undermine their own story's wonderful premise by failing to keep a proper pace, losing opportunities for action and emotional sequences, and, worst of all, choosing to cater to the hypocritical and nefarious political agenda of our time: woke intersectionalism.

I'm sure you understand the need for equal opportunity and the eradication of prejudice; these are lofty goals that would help advance mankind towards a happier, more prosperous future. However, in modern Hollywood's case, the ends do not justify the means. A resentful industry, bent on presenting a façade of righteousness thru a "holier than thou attitude" cannot possibly advance the cause of impartiality when its true agenda is to receive lavish praise and large monetary gain at the cost of integrity.

"The Last of Us" television series portrays the original computer game's heroic, Caucasian protagonist as a dead-beat dad with little spine or decision making ability. It further chooses to cast every authority figure in the show as a woman. This would be fine in any previous era of media except our current, in which disparaging men, especially white men, has become commonplace. There is absolutely no justification for this racist and sexist objective; it is based on hate and long held bitterness that betrays the mental illness of its production instead of providing a captivating story with a moral to it.

To further complicate the matter, Mazin and Druckmann fail to understand the simpler points of proper pacing, plot and script writing. The first episode meanders without a clear trajectory, completely skipping over a bombing (presented without any clear goal) as well as a bloody attack on the Fireflies, and choosing, instead, to highlight less compelling moments in the protagonist's lives, doing so without providing momentum or fostering concern in the viewer. The result is a significant loss of opportunity in terms of action in the show, and a massive loss of character development and presentation.

The end result is that the show becomes background television fodder, unworthy of a true attention span, unable to hold active interest in its viewer, and instead devolving into a pathetic vehicle to a narcissistic political rhetoric. Only time will tell if the next episodes will be able to overcome these massive shortcomings, but I wouldn't hold me breath, if I were you.

As a fan of the Last of Us games, I was very satisfied with this adaptation. It really recreated the feeling of the game, while still managing to create its own unique portrait. I can’t wait to see the next episodes. I would say it is an immersive and captivating start to something huge.

I really disliked this series. It’s not loyal to the original content, plus it’s poorly written in some situations like: “the fungi can’t survive in temperatures above 35°C” ~ “The ‘global warming’ will make the fungi to adapt and evolve.” Such dialogue doesn’t make sense. Plus this series is full of w0ke things. It doesn’t deserve our attention.

The first impression is that it is a bit slow. However, already knowing the story and the ending, it lacks suspense and doesn't really draw me in. It's as if I've already seen the season.

Pedro Pascal, Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Merle Dandridge are great. Nico Parker as Sarah is perfect, I like her acting and I wish she played Ellie. But not Bella Ramsey. Bella Ramsey doesn't play Ellie, she plays Abby.

First episode in and I'm pretty happy with it. The world of the show feels fairly well lived-in. The acting was all fairly solid. I'm still a little unsure about Bella Ramsay, who is very good but doesn't act with her eyes especially well - I think she may grow on me though. The dashes of humor were well received.

So far, what is holding this back is that it is a little formulaic, but that is to be expected since there are only so many ways to show the apocalypse and its aftermath. I believe that as the show goes on, the relationship between Joel and Ellie will make this one of the best of 2023.

Also, I gotta say - I see a lot of people talking about woke casting or something - I did not get any annoying woke vibes at all. The ethnicity of certain characters simply has no bearing on the believability of the world or the machinations of the plot.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a big fan of the game, I can say that it was an excellent adaptation, very good performances and the setting is worthy. When they announced that Pedro Pascal will be Joel, I loved it, however, at first, I didn't like the choice of Bella Ramsey as Ellie, however, with the first trailer, I realized that it was an excellent decision. Now with the premiere of the first episode, I can prove how good the cast is. As much as the appearance is not the same, they have faithful personalities, for example, that their personality is identical to the game, enabling one of the most impactful scenes in the game, and probably in the series. Pedro Pascal was incredible, in the first episode, he showed what a good actor he is. The interactions between Tess and Joel were better, mainly for showing more of what it's like to be a smuggler.
Thus, Ellie Williams is introduced, as a 14-year-old girl, with a great purpose, and Joel and Tess must take her to a group of terrorists, known as the Fireflies.
I need to emphasize that the series does not focus only on being faithful to the game, but also on being realistic, especially in the excellent beginning of the series, showing an interview in the 60s, where an epidemiologist talks about the risk of fungi like Cordyceps, evolving and starting to infect humans due to global warming.
The soundtrack made by Gustavo Santaolalla is perfect just like in the game.
Conclusion: An excellent first episode, being a faithful and beautiful introduction, even for people who haven't played the game.

Miscast. Weird details just to stretch the episode. Nothing special, but it’s not awful at the same time. Maybe some day people these show creators will find out that people who loved the original story want to see something similar both in terms of characters AND setting with visuals. In the game you felt something when Sarah was killed in the show she was just annoying. They changed the show so much away from the game this might as well be another Walking Dead episode. Everything moved to slow and in the end of the episode I was bored out of my mind. On the positive side the world around did feel like a world that is in pain. That did came over from the game a bit. Compared to the other dystopian shows out there, this is clearly in the "Walking Dead" camp, not the much higher "Station Eleven" category. All the tropes are in there. TWD 's nihilism was very refreshing and poignant back in the days (season 2 and 3). Besides it is inferior to the "Girl with all the Gifts" which has the exact same plot.
