One of the best episodes of the series. Really very very good. 10/10.
The only thing is that I would like them to last more than 50 minutes.

This was a rather faithfull adaptation of what is arguably the best chapter from the original game. Scott Shepard gives an excellent performance as David, who comes across as more charismatic than his game counterpart, yet still perfectlyThis was a rather faithfull adaptation of what is arguably the best chapter from the original game. Scott Shepard gives an excellent performance as David, who comes across as more charismatic than his game counterpart, yet still perfectly creepy. His character got more sceentime than in the game and I did appreciate that. This episode also features a bit more action than the last two episodes, which was definitely a welcome addition. It also shows us more of that brutal side of Joel that I think could have been featured more in the series so far, so that pleased me.
The only two things that hold this episode back for me are Bella Ramsey's preformance, which is kinda hit or mis in this episode (she is far from a bad actress, but her acting durring the hunting scene was a bit off) and the way they adapted the ending of this chapter. Though the ending of this episode is still done well, the game simply did it in a way that left a larger emotional impact through timing and score. Just watch the episode and then compare it to the ending of this chapter in the game, you'll see what I mean.

It is refreshing to see that there were no unnecessary sexual or gender issues included, allowing the plot to progress without any distractions. Although there have been some references to religion, they did not detract from the overall experience of the episode. The absence of flashbacks in this episode may have helped to maintain the momentum of the plot and keep the viewer engaged. It can be frustrating when episodes spend too much time recapping the past, so it's good to see that this episode avoided that. The story is now in the falling action after the climax of the plot. This suggests that there will be even more thrilling moments to come in the next episode and potentially in the second season as well. It's always great to see a story progress and develop in a way that keeps the viewer interested. Overall, it sounds like this was a great episode and one that fans of the show will surely enjoy. With the anticipation building for the next episode and the conclusion of the first season, it's clear that this show is doing something right and is worth watching. Плюсы: удачный подбор Дэвида, большая часть серии поставлена более-менее, диалоги, музыка и приятные эмбиенты из второй игры, Трой Бейкер. Минусы: крошечный хронометраж, вялая режиссура (многообещающее появление в постановщиках Али Аббаси тут совсем не впечатлило), большинство сцен в игре, включая сцену пытки и особенно финал в игре выполнен сильнее и проникновеннее. Хотя Белла Рамзи вновь молодец. Наконец-то появилась толика той самой жестокости из игры, пускай и совсем не много. Финальный поединок слишком полагается на условности игры и был крайне не уместен здесь, когда Элли спокойно могла сразу убежать, банально разбив окно.… Expand

This is one of the best episodes suspense from the beginning to the end, if they have expanded some other parts of the story instead of the lgbt episodes the series would be a masterpiece

Once again this show delivers what was great about the game. The main points are hit almost verbatim. And that means it was freaking fire. There was, of course, a little less action. You're not going to be shooting twenty people in a showOnce again this show delivers what was great about the game. The main points are hit almost verbatim. And that means it was freaking fire. There was, of course, a little less action. You're not going to be shooting twenty people in a show that has a foot steeped in realism, and a 14 year old girl isn't going to suddenly become Rambo, like you have to do in the game here. But, it hits all the violent high points, and it hits them very well. And to be frank, this episode was more raw and affecting than the game, great as this sequence was in that version. Bella really brought out the anger, terror and horror of "that" scene. And it was somewhat interesting to see what happened with Troy Baker's character (Joel in the game). Also, we got to see Joel as dangerous as he is when he has ALMOST nothing to lose, except the one thing that matters to him. I'm really looking forward to more of that next week.

Regardless, this episode I think might be the best of the series so far. Absolutely 10 out of 10, no question. It has some emotional tension, a lot of it really. It's not sappy like episode 3, and it's not filled with insecurity like episode 7. But it has a more pressing, urgent emotional vibe to it. The sense of losing everything you love, and the lengths you'd go to protect it.

Let's be real. The story of this episode is such a stretch. But i think the emotions that it evoked especially due to the raw violence, savage it somehow.

Best episode of the season, very good adaptation of the source material, I've been very (very) critical of the previous episodes so did not expect to give this episode such a high score. When We Are In Need is another faithful recreation of one of the source material’s hardest-hitting storylines, further developing Ellie’s character in a way that Bella Ramsay gives new life to. I was initially worried about how the conflict would be set up given most of what causes the game’s events don’t occur, at least not to the same level, within the show, but the writers breach the gap with solid motivations supported by solid performances.

Breathless and tense, even for someone who knew exactly what would happen, When We Are In Need solidifies our protagonists’ purpose and commitments, and sets up the show for a finale that cannot be missed.

This is going to be an absolute 10 for me, as expected.

The performance of Bella Ramsey in this episode was stellar and should clear the head of any person who still doubted her as Ellie. If she doesn't get nominated for an Oscar the nextThis is going to be an absolute 10 for me, as expected.

The performance of Bella Ramsey in this episode was stellar and should clear the head of any person who still doubted her as Ellie. If she doesn't get nominated for an Oscar the next year, this is gonna be straight up snobbery.

Every other actor also did a phenomenal job.
And the amount of character progression, Ellie went through in this episode, within this short span of time feels unreal and yet perfect.
Also, this episode gives the fans what they had been craving for. Thrilling action sequences and breathtaking moments make this episode one of the most intriguing episodes till now. A jump of disbelief and another one of joy are guaranteed while watching this episode and the best thing is that none of it feels rushed.
Overall, this episode is the second best episode of the show after episode 5 and an absolutely perfect one.

This show has been setting up benchmarks for video game adaptations and the stakes are going nowhere but higher.… Expand
