This season has had a bit of a weak opening so far, but it is still a very enjoyable show. The Flash has always been a very fun, very good show, and it still is, even though this is shaping up to the worst opening to a season yet.

This season of the show is so far my favorite by a longshot. From the samuroid, to Barry's return, to Caitlin's redemption, to Barry's new suit, to "this house is b***'n, to the plot twisting scene including the thinker, and that incredible hinting line I'm thinking", this season is epic in every possible way. update: episode two wasn't as incredible and likable as episode 1, but thereThis season of the show is so far my favorite by a longshot. This new episode also got the chance to show Barry's new suit, and ending with another cliffhanger involving the thinker. He had a conversation with his assistant, and then began to locate other meta humans, but just as the computer finishes loading, the episode ends, leaving us on a cliffhanger. Who will the new meta be? Hazard, a returning character, or a noob to the series? Expand

The start of season is terrific, so the new villian, but not all the chapters have the same capacity for thrills, every one with references of pop culture. The final chapter is a roller coaster that saves the day.

This season felt pretty genuine with it's protagonist's rebirth and the antagonist's drive, plus the acting was better than the previous seasons. Also it managed to evade the issue of pacing this time around and every single episode served the main plot's unveiling, and there where no immersion breaking side missions. Also the crossover was amazing as always before, between the Arrowverse TV series. The acting was decent to, not the greatest I would say in the emotional moments, but the hearth warming family vibe was there again and glowed with positive energy. The plot was rather interesting and given the origin of the villain this season also managed to not fall on the cliche side as far as story goes. The whole season was a rather good watch even though the plot points where rather predictable at times. The cinematography was average at best with the way scenes where shot, and sadly a huge cut of action scenes this season did not help the weight of the situation. The visuals where awful as always with the reused assets in the sound effect area, was also bad for the overall value of the season.
Overall this was a good season for a good origin story for the Flash one of the most likable characters in the DC universe.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Season 4 almost scared me, since I thought it wouldn't have Flash or it will replace Barry with Wally and team. Thankfully Barry returns back with a terrible idea and doesn't just stop there. There is a new villain called The Thinker and the way he is shown to talk to Flash, it seems as though he is being controlled by his wife Marlize (which would have been a way better plot). I actually thought this is the plot, and that is the reason why when Barry is telling Marlize that The Thinker will discard her when she's of no use to him she says he won't. Turns out she was just delusional in her love, and that's exactly what happens. What a waste of opportunity! But other than that there wasn't anything else to complain about. After the Nazis attack the plot becomes more coherent. The idea behind Barry getting arrested because of a misunderstanding was way better than what it sounds like. The Thinker absorbing all the enemies was really making me angry, and seeing him die in the end was very satisfactory. Season 4 also introduced my new favourite character, The Elongated Man. Expand

The show now has the space to give its core characters time to interact and have meaningful plot lines, even though the premiere is a little bit of a mess.

On the whole, The Flash season 4 is off to a terrific start. Setting aside its past self-seriousness (and even taking light jabs at it along the way), the show appears to have recalibrated into something brighter, more fun and far more in line with the source material.
