On the whole, The Flash season 4 is off to a terrific start. Setting aside its past self-seriousness (and even taking light jabs at it along the way), the show appears to have recalibrated into something brighter, more fun and far more in line with the source material.

The show now has the space to give its core characters time to interact and have meaningful plot lines, even though the premiere is a little bit of a mess.

This show started out with great expectations, especially having Harrison Wells/ Eboard Thawne as the main villain. He should not have been killed off after the first season. The character of Barry Allen went from a happy-go-lucky likeable person who appreciated his speed abilities to this brooding individual. I've said the same thing about "Supergirl." And that is I wonder how long the CW will continue airing these expensive (special effects) shows? Full Review »

However, it has degenerated into the usual morass of filth and mindless repeat programming that all networks seem to thrive on. The show, after the first couple of seasons, which were original and well done, now features adulterous sexual scenes for our youth to emulate, superfluous homosexuality which is injected into a scene but which has nothing to do with the object of the show, and show plots that are no more than mirror images of previous plots showing the poor and limited imagination of the writers and directors. This superhero, like those before him, is not faithful to the original intent of the DC comic series. The writers ought to be ashamed of themselves and the cast has lowered their standards by emulating yet another soap opera with all of it's drama and bleeding heart personality quirks in true modern super hero style. Has judgment day arrived on planet earth? Full Review »

The idea of a villain who literally could not be beat could have been fantastic. However, the season only had one main arc over the course of 23 episodes. There were events that could have kept the viewers interest but these ended up being small and unimportant. One big issue was many episodes were self contained episodes with their own villain that added nothing to the overall season. The new characters introduced this season weren't compelling and I did not care about them. This season is overall disappointing and proves, yet again, that this show has lost its way. The first two seasons were great but seasons three and four doesn't even come close. It is truly unfortunate but I think the only way this show can survive is if season five is a soft reboot. The final scene hints at a huge change but I'm not expecting much in season five. Full Review »
