Mr. Cubitt has set up a parallel between Gibson and Spector and wants to suggest that she, too, isn’t in full control of her sexual impulses. But he hasn’t made the parallel interesting, and it makes Gibson a less believable character, despite Ms. Anderson’s fine performance. Read full review

As good as Anderson is throughout, her Stella suffers from a Season 3 lack of development--we learn nothing about her in this new season that we did not know from the previous two (apart from a couple of small autobiographical details dropped in the final hour). And some characters who had been important to the series--I’m thinking particularly of John Lynch’s cop Burns--recede or fall away in disappointing ways. Read full review

The show seems to be fixating on the energy and effort that goes into saving a life, just as, in seasons past, it’s shown Paul taking them in similar close-up. But plot-wise, it’s a slog. Read full review

The first 30 minutes of the first episode are intense and engaging, then the pace slows dramatically. Not recommended for those looking for action and speed, the show is dialogue-heavy with action-light episodes very psychological with few high tension scenes. Unexpected ending. I enjoyed this third season of The Fall, but understand why many found it disappointing. It did not live up to its own standards, and feels like the producers wanted to wrap things up but didn't know how to do so eloquently for one reason or another.

The writing and performances are very good, but several interesting characters seem to have been lost and forgotten by the show. However, the season still ends with a bang and, despite its shortcomings, if you enjoy slow paced psychological content and watching brilliant people operate in subtle ways this third season should, at the very least, pique your interest.… Expand

'The Fall' is a show that only survives for its charismatic leading actors because the story is not original nor smart. It also feels like it tries to be too clever for its own good and instead of ending with a bang, it only ends up being mediocre.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A pointless last season. All the tension is drained out now that Spector is captured, and so the writer toys around with psychobabble to elicit interest in motivation. Boring. So they bring in a sleazy lawyer to get him off, and he promptly allows his client to plead guilty to a crime recently discovered. So then they decide to let him saunter around unshackled. Didn't they see "Silence Of The Lambs?" Without anyone to play with Andersen's character's flat affect gets flatter, and our interest in her diminishes. For a moment there they tease us with his possible escape, now that might have saved it, but no.… Expand

The opposite of season 1. Kind of like 'Lost' where you get the idea nothing had been thought through and no seeming logic to how it ends. Suffice it ends with you thinking 'eh what was the point of that?'

Very disappointing. Season 3 is as bad (2/10) as Season 1 was riveting (8/10). What a waste of time on tedious police work, red tape and politics (yes the public wants blood and the higher echelons of management are cowards standing in the way of the incorruptible, infallible, strong-willedVery disappointing. Loved the first two seasons, but could not make it thru three and a half episodes in Season three. Total snoozefest. Paul has amnesia, that seems to be the entire plot. Nothing compelling whatsoever.
