This show is another example of the trend in superhero stories where the "villain" has a completely reasonable and morally completely-right ideology, but the writers shoehorn in non-sequitur violence that, if you look at it critically, doesn't align with that ideology, and they insert it in there to make that ideology seem unreasonable and "too far", in case the audience changes sides away from one that aligns with the status quo. The entire "Legitimate Activist Who Goes Too Far" subplot is genuinely bad writing. It is lazy and hackneyed, and disingenuous. Hollywood's favorite moral is that anyone who wants to make the world structurally better is a dangerous evil extremist who is doing it wrong, while private individuals with no accountability should be able to subdue them with violence by any means necessary because protecting the status quo is the definition of heroism. And all of that is on top of the military propaganda, and the harmful message of "actually authoritarianism and unfettered power are good, because they're only bad when they're in the wrong hands, and they're normally in the right hands, so everything is good actually". And the false equivalence of the flag smashers' ideologies to nazi ideology is not only stupid but is dangerous. This show was so badly written, and the actors deserved so much better.… Expand

This TV show is not fun it s just political. If this is new MCU than this is bad. Every 5 minutes it s about race and racism.

Just not up to the standard set by the other MCU films and TV shows. The first episode was okay, and the show basically lost me halfway through the second. It continues to be painful to watch.

Woke nonsense.

About enough plot to make a 100 minute long movie, is stretched out to nearly 6 hours. Whiny characters who have no desire to elicit empathy in the viewer. Terrible casting choices for many of the 'new' characters the showWoke nonsense.

I'll give it a three as it did have some entertaining moments, but over all just another modern day pile of leftests, woke nonsense that completely distracts you from anything else.

What started as a show that only lightly touched on the race angle and politic decided to triple jump the shark in its very last episode by hammering the fact that "THIS BLACK GUY IS CAPTAIN AMERICA! A BLACK CAPTAIN AMERICA EVERYONE!" and then proceeded to have him call the violent unhinged far left open border antifa type terrorist "a misguided teenager" (the show is constantly riding the line between "humanising the vilain" and straight up appology of terrorism) before going into a long marxist speech.

CAPTAIN AMERICA, delivering a marxist and open border speech. Let that sink in for a bit.

And of course, they had to insist about HOW MANY RACISTS there is that will hate him for being black (yaknow, in a country that **** elected twice a black president), because that was the whole point of the show, to tell you how racist USA is, and how marxism and open borders are good!… Expand

I enjoyed Wandavision, but this series was just "woke" nonsense. The main character arc seems to be whether America will accept a black Captain America. But, we are never given any evidence that suggests they won't. None! Everyone SamI enjoyed Wandavision, but this series was just "woke" nonsense. the first couple of episodes were engaging but it became kinda meh. the narrative was doll and preachy,i genuinely felt sorry for Anthony Mackie having to deliver that final speech.the only interesting characters were john Walker and Zemo

Because of the lack of story, they thematize the following 2 topics:
1) The problem how the Falcon's family doesn't have enough money and how they repair a boat. WTF?? BORING.
2) The neverending discussion about racism in USA. Dear America, is this still a thing in your country? Propably the only country in the world which can't find solutions for this problem.… Expand

Such a disappointment of a show. Yes we all know Captain America is meant to be political but sheesh they went full left wing here. Some action scenes were entertaining but overall the show is really catering to leftist.

The main villains are women based on ideological nonsense rather than ability or merit. Falcap does a stupid lecture abt you know what and the flagmashers are basically a standin for blm/antifa. The flagmasher leader is also a standin in for that useful puppet greta thernberg. The super soldier serum is nothing special now. Originally the reason the serum couldnt work properly was becuz the vita ray process was destroyed along with dr. Erskine. Nobody is allowed to be unique/special anymore. Anybody can be a super powered freak via this mass produced serum becuz marxism. Baloney. Also whos idea was it to make sharon carter the power broker? No clues whatsoever. They appear to just asspull at the end.… Expand

Only good thing was john walker. Steve rogers was fake reflection of usa, while john is exactly like usa - violent, treacherous and unstable. waste of time.

What a mess. Too much stuff going on. Seems like someone had a list: Have to have one of this one of those... and the story was just trying to connect all the characters..

It's incredible how poorly the show is written. It's not as over the top as Rise of Skywalker, but it feels similarly contrived and joyless.

Making this show one of the first impressions of the Disney plus lineup is a horrendous choice.

Even when viewing this as a standalone project without any connection to the franchise, the show is awful at storytelling and messaging. It alienates everyone with wishy washy and ham-fisted storylines that never resolve in a satisfying way beyond "OMG he got the suit wowee!" at the very end.

However, when you view it in context to the entire franchise, it gets even worse. These aren't even the pre-established characters anymore— and I'm not talking about the tiny little retcons and out-of-character quips that the MCU is known for —within TFATWS hardly any of these characters are recognizable beyond the fact that they are being played by the same actors. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is what happens when someone writes fanfiction of their Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie OCs(original characters) and somehow get approval to place it in MCU canon. These writers and creative talent did not bother to learn who these characters are; they clearly didn't watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier. At best you can assume that these writers watching the group ensemble movies and had a vague idea of who Bucky and Sam were from being background characters in fight scenes and then decided that they were equipped to create an entire show about them while essentially telling Stan and Mackie to just be themselves rather than the characters.

TFATWS is widely regarded as the Worst Disney plus show, and if you initially thought that this was an overreaction on the audience's part, I regret to inform you that it is not an overreaction. If anything, this show is remembered too fondly among loud portions of the fanbase while the look back through rose-tinted glasses and imagine that this show is actually a Stan/Mackie interview that they love to post clips of online and pretend that it's the most hilarious thing known to humanity.… Expand
