The show’s decision to quietly set the stage for season 3 while it ties up loose ends is a smart one. Much of the episode feels mired in the past--and some critics may lament Kara’s post-breakup funk, rightfully so--but hopefully, once the season’s story really kicks into high gear, Supergirl will be flying higher than ever before.

I watched an episode of season 3 to see if it had gotten any better... and it's gotten worse!

How can a show be this bad across the board in ever possible way. I was a huge fan of the original Supergirl movie, and Supergirl the character, so this show really upsets me. The show has zero charm, and half the show is political axe grinding as if they have no real story to tell.

Am I suppose to be sad what's his face left? I am glad because he was so awful. Is there anyone that felt anything for them as a couple? That the writers of this show can't write love seems part of their general world view.

The only thing I like about the show is Lena, but they've almost ruined the tension that made that interesting.

But this show has driven me away. The writers/producers insert leftist dogma and take jabs at opinions they don’t agree with any chance they get. Entertain your audience; don’t tell them how to think. The show is full of plot holes, characters that don’t act in logical manners, and way too many unexplained coincidences that allow the protagonists to succeed. Most of the speeches that are meant to feel inspirational get too political and don’t really fit the situation the character is supposedly addressing. Too much time is spent on relationships that never have a resolution. They are trying to perpetuate the romantic drama ad infinitum, thus making every relationship feel fake and cheap. There are way too many aliens who can beat down supergirl; there’s not much super about her. I am tired of the shallow and often self-contradictory morality the characters display. The acting is average. The fight choreography is a joke. And cape-fighting techniques? Haha, really? Every time an interesting topic or well done moment of acting pulls me in to the storyline, one of these problems arises and takes me back out again. Total score: 0. But +1 for DC having awesome source material. I just wish it was used better. Full Review »

It tries to be campy and cute, then slides over to overdone drama, then fails miserably at social commentary. The worst is the lesbian romance. Not every show needs a homosexual subplot and this one suffers damage for its crude handling of the issue. This show frankly does not handle heterosexual relationships well either (as demonstrated when Kara gets totally turned inside out when Monel leaves then shows up again). The show lost its best comic relief when they wrote out Cat Grant. Her line about real life hubby, Harrison Ford, was gold! Now this show just takes itself too seriously. The Winn character cannot handle the needed comic relief on his own.

The season long story arc is hurting most CW super hero shows and this one is no exception. The Reign plot is plodding along at a snails pace. Boring! Comics are supposed to tie up their plots in an issue or two. Move the plot along, already!

Stick to super powers and punching out bad people. Find some better comic relief. Leave the romantic plot lines to the soaps.
