If you were hoping Strange New Worlds would be a course-correction for the unbelievably low quality and rampant stupidity of nuTrek, you’re gonna have a bad time. This new show is just as dumb, tedious and awful as STD or Picard. Maybe worse.

Trek fans, it’s time to let go. It’s over. I know it sucks, but you have all the evidence you need now that it is never, ever going to get better.

Buy the DVD/Blu-ray if all the classic Trek shows, and then never give the talentless hacks at Paramount+ another dollar for as long as you live. It’s the least they deserve for killing Star Trek forever.

So freaking boring. Is this what Star Trek has become? Just an absolute snore-fest. Boring characters, uninteresting plotlines, lazy writing. Just utter garbage.

Why is everyone on this show an idiot?
It makes it unwatchable when everyone keeps making dumb decisions and never learn once from their mistakes.

It was a uniquely painful and boring experience. I foolishly watched two episodes. The whole experience was futile in hindsight. The most positive thing that could happen for Strange New Worlds is for it to be terminated. It was woke and empty. Void of personality and charm. Bland and meaningless. Just like discovery.
Little house on the prairie in space.
    Wokeness, moralistic, box ticking.
What happened to the true Star Trek?
    Unbearable to watch anymore.

The only thing they're discovering in deep space is a myriad of virtue signals and woke nonsense. If you want to watch a better space show, try "Orville". What started out as a parody, has become a much better show, with deeper character work, than this show could possibly muster.

This show is rad. I enjoy the return to episodic storytelling and all that characters are interesting and fun. Ethan Peck kills it as Spock. Anson Mount as Capt Pike is fantastic. Jess Bush as Nurse Chapel is possibly my favorite. I wish the special effects weren't so muddy and "realistic." Between this and Lower Decks all the old and new Trek fans should be very happy.

User score is almost bang on for this series (pilot). I'm giving it a lower 5/10 because this pilot plot dives immediately into earth/humanoid politics, so much for 'strange new worlds'. Also, It feels as if the creators try way to hard and the dialogue comes across very silly almost child like. Maybe next couple of episodes will turn the corner, but I really have my doubts.

Weak stories. Woke production. Plastic caricatures of Start Trek characters. Weak relationships. Some good acting but mostly weak. This is another example of how to wreck a timeless series that Disney has gotten very good at. We rate it a "don't waste your time."

This appears to be the more of the same as previous recent Star Treks - instead of focus on sci-fi, we get modern gender tropes (you know, men weak and stupid, women flawless) situated in incoherent, boring stories.

Couldn't finish watching it. Tried to get a connection with any character was a no go. Won't be watching episode 2. You are better off watching The Orville or better yet The Expanse.

Finally! Some real Star Trek. It's been nearly 2 decades since I have been able to say that I genuinely liked the direction that Star Trek was going. Strange New Worlds captures the optimism and sophistication that Trek deserves. Everything comes together for a great though imperfect representation that I'm proud to accept as Star Trek.
Pike and Spock carry over the same great chemistry

Pike and Spock carry over the same great chemistry from Discovery without the convoluted and awkward overarching plot. Uhura is delightful and inspiring. The Dialogue is witty and sharp. The cinematography ditches the rapid cuts and excessive lens effects of Discovery and the story lacks the stodgy stuffiness of Picard. The CG could be smoother and a few FX shots were disorienting and inconsistent. Spatial permanence and motion consistency was iffy at times but it was overall forgivable and felt more creative and faithful than recent forays into the world of Trek. The re-imagination of the Enterprise it self is my favorite redesign from the past 30 years. the story was bold and daring. Immediately relevant but not shoehorned. Over all, Good Trek, I'm looking forward to next week.
May the franchise Live long and prosper

Loved it! This is not only back to what I want from Star Trek, but it incorporates an updated feel in cast and crew that's more organic than STD or Picard (both of which failed for me). Not sure about porn Mirk yet, but we hardly know him. So far I really like the entire cast, especially the doc and nurse. Unwatchable, they ignore any obvious smart come back lines, the dialogue is childish at best, stories are obvious or for some reason religious in a SCIENCE fiction show. They have no idea who the show is aimed at except anyone that can recognise the most massive number of very clumsy call backs to TOS which itself is almost unwatchable due to Shatners overacting. Best pilot ep for a Trek show since Emissary. Trek pilots usually range from awful to meh. Anson Mount was great in Discovery, and he's just as great here. Haven't been this excited to watch a next episode since DS9. I like the newer Trek shows, Voyager, and Enterprise--but I think there might be something extra special brewing with this one.

that was the best trek show since 90s. im pretty sure there will be a lot of haters from echo-chambers, the pure fact that 21 century crisis was mentioned in ep 1 will be a trigger. maaan, did time change. now you can't have a female badass character without some incel arguing that it's 'politics'

This has the theme of Star Trek, and very little else. The misogyny and racism (aka diversity) on display, are counter-pointed by the lack of continuity and logic.

Strongest premiere episode of any Trek season. The show could fall apart as things progress but it's strong out of the gate. I'm thinking back to literally all the pilot episodes from all the other Trek shows (The Cage for TOS, Encounter at Farpoint for TNG, The Emissary for DS9, etc) and Strange New Worlds is by far the most engaging.

For those calling this show too woke, I firmly disagree.

The episode focused on Pike. In no way was he depicted as “weak” (if anything his portrayal was fairly typical for male leads). Not so sure about Spock yet, nobody can replace Nimoy. I don’t really care for Chapel as her portrayal doesn’t match her personality at all from TOS. Also I hate “Hit it”… but besides that this is the

This is the best first episode of a ST series ever. It's great on it's own and introduces lots of characters we know and care for. The best part of it is the predictable gnashing of teeth by Right Wing Nut Jobs because there just "ain't enough white men" in it. Ignore their BS scores. This is a great start to what looks to be a great series.

I was ready to skip the intro sequence, seeing the intro's for Picard and Discovery are horrible and aren't Trek at all, this intro was what I'd consider "old trek" or "actual Trek".

The first episode was a decent 6.5. The hamfisted "Jan 6" scene already breaks canon (Trump and Obama don't exist in canon because there was the Eugenics war in the 90's which they now set after 2024 for no reason at all). It was the best of New Trek, but other than that small moment, the episode was great.

The second episode is a solid 8.
It felt like old trek, it honored old trek, and I still don't despise a single character yet!

For those who have lost hope in all Trek, try this one out. So far, so good.

“Strange New Worlds” is at its best in its fifth episode, which delivers more cheeky fun and short bursts of character development with economy that are more meaningful than the paragraphs of breathless character exposition found in the first four episodes.
