    That Season 2 maintains and deepens the characters of Season One but deploys them in a sprightly and intriguing story is a triumph.

    Nobody would mistake Picard for Star Trek in its prime. But it has captured some of that hard to define, easy to recognise Trek essence. And if not exactly at warp speed – there are still a few too many Stewart soliloquies – it has undoubtedly located its missing sense of derring-do and is hurtling satisfyingly towards interstellar overdrive.

    We’ll see if Season Two turns out any better, but by leaning on some of what Star Trek has always done well, it’s off to a more promising start.

    So far season two feels more promising now that character introductions are largely out of the way and the whole team shares a goal.

It's a terribly boring show that could be named anything else and be completely ignored by everyone. It is unfortunate that carries Star Trek branding. Midway through the season, they seem to have forgotten some basic plot points from the previous one concerning a few characters in favor of more convenient changes. Four episodes in and this season is a trainwreck.

    It is a piss poor copy of every "Mirror, Mirror" episode and a rehash of every 'fix the broken timeline' plotline they've used since Star Trek 4 hit theaters. There's zero originality in this effort and it shows. Instead, they use the series as a way to bludgeon the viewer with hyper-woke nonsense. In the third episode they hammer the audience over the head with their typical leftist ideologies regarding: Anti-capitalism, LGBTQ (lesbianism, specifically), illegal immigration and a typical 'ACAB' portrayal of law enforcement, homelessness, and climate change. In the first twenty minutes of the fourth episode, they invoke Nazism as a reference, repeat the anti-police message, double down with anti-American sentiment ('They make you pledge allegiance?'), and use Guinan to push BLM.

    Due respect to Sir Patrick Stewart's body of work, his age is a problem. He's not acting so much as he's mumbling his lines and shuffling around the set. This show is trash, utterly unfaithful to anything the Star Trek universe ever created just in order to push the story (and their narrative) along. A woke leftists wet dream pretending to be Star Trek. It should be retired for good.    … Full Review »

    The story can be told in 3-4 episodes, but it is drawn out into 10 with a lot of filler. A few of the story arcs had promise but they all end in the same unsatisfactory way with some cop-out / trope. Worse is the actions characters say/do that seem to only exist to fulfill some other story/twist later on.

    I gave this a rating of 1 because the CGI was good - the only good thing about this show.    … Full Review »
