I created an account just to warn others of this terrible season/show. If you are thinking, "it must get better" - it doesn't, it gets worse.

The story can be told in 3-4 episodes, but it is drawn out into 10 with a lot of filler. A few of the story arcs had promise but they all end in the same unsatisfactory way with some cop-out / trope. Worse is the actions characters say/do that

I gave this a rating of 1 because the CGI was good - the only good thing about this show.

I watch shows to escape reality for a bit, not to be lectured by woke Hollywood elitists basking in their self righteous moral superiority. This is just more woke garbage being thrown in your face, in a time where this wokeness is regurgitated on you 24/7. People are tired of it. I miss the OG Picard. This show was a complete letdown.

Just really disappointing. With the entire future universe to explore they decide to go back in time to Los Angeles, in the present day. How self-centered do you have to be as a TV show writer to say "well these viewers are interested in a Sci-Fi show but I think they will prefer to see what my day-to-day is like!"

It's dumb. Things don't respect simple logic. The plot is simply too dumb. Character talk and act not like you would expect. There is so much messed up stuff. The story development is childish.

I really liked the first season of Picard a lot. This first episode of the seond season was a mess, from the "oh your partner/other actor on this show isn't here because he died/wasn't invited back, let's justify it by saying romulans get over one death by immediately getting under someone else" lmfao and it only got worse from there. oh my gosh so cringe, the whole thing.

It is a piss poor copy of every "Mirror, Mirror" episode and a rehash of every 'fix the broken timeline' plotline they've used since Star Trek 4 hit theaters. There's zero originality in this effort and it shows. Instead, they use the series as a way to bludgeon the viewer with hyper-woke nonsense. In the third episode they hammer the audience over the head with their typical leftist ideologies regarding: Anti-capitalism, LGBTQ (lesbianism, specifically), illegal immigration and a typical 'ACAB' portrayal of law enforcement, homelessness, and climate change. In the first twenty minutes of the fourth episode, they invoke Nazism as a reference, repeat the anti-police message, double down with anti-American sentiment ('They make you pledge allegiance?'), and use Guinan to push BLM.

Due respect to Sir Patrick Stewart's body of work, his age is a problem. He's not acting so much as he's mumbling his lines and shuffling around the set. This show is trash, utterly unfaithful to anything the Star Trek universe ever created just in order to push the story (and their narrative) along. A woke leftists wet dream pretending to be Star Trek. It should be retired for good.

Initially I was cautiously hopeful about the premise of season two. After four episodes I can say that this is the most uninspired, derivative, lifeless, boring spin NuTrek has done yet. The first season had my attention because I hadn't seen Picard in years, now I want him to go away forever. There is nothing redeeming about this trash. Nostalgia plus terrible writing and paper thin characters.

It thought it was impossible to use the TNG staples like the Borg, Q and time travel to make a bad story. I am proven wrong and this is inferior than I anticipated. Why then use great characters, staples and idea from TNG and make it worse would be a fair question. Neither the Borg, Q, Guinan, the Traveler whose name I wont spoil or the other established characters work that well. Many say it is bad fan fiction adapted to a show and I don't know how to win an argument against this statement even if I do not (completely) agree. I repeat my statement from season 1 that I see this as alternative universe with variations of established characters. It makes more sense that way. The story starts well but collapses towards the end. It has undeniable some great moments but the weaker once outnumber those and at the end it gets unbelievably bad. Again I think I missed some parts as there are some things that make no sense or are just poorly written. I wont say a bad thing about the actors and blame all mismanagement on the writing. I admit that John De Lancie is as great as always and that Patrick Steward does the most he can. However they cant turn the tide. The budget is also again an issue. There are some bad costumes and special effects. The other shows had better effects especially if you consider the technological advancement since back then. Overall this is everything wrong with modern Star Trek and I would advice to stay far away especially if you are a TNG / D9) or even Voyager fans. I give a 2/10 and hope they stop this show or turn the tide but this is not a reliable outcome to be honest. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With all due respect to actors, who I like and a characters who I really liked in TNG and Voyager series, this time script writers did a terrible thing: they used time travel and fixing move.
The worst thing you can do as a script writer when you have complete freedom of the plot is start playing with time. It works very very rarely. Time travel is broken here. Instead of using the Terran universe, they change the past and then in the last episode they aren't returned back properly, they are put moments before explosion but without characters that were in the first episode. How is it supposed to work at all?

    I don't wait for Season 3 anymore.

If you want real Star Trek experience - watch "Star Trek: Lower Decks". They are much closer to the TNG than it's direct sequel.

That has resulted in the main story being incoherent. Huge amounts of time are wasted on inconsequential, boring side tangents and characters that add nothing to the core story (e.g., Kore). And the central conceit of it all that Picard has hidden mommy issues. Really? Why did they entrust this franchise with such untalented people? I have no idea. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly expected much worse after season 1. I did not care for the first season at all. If I weren't in a show hole at the time this came out, I probably would have written it off like I did Discovery (though season 3 of DSC was fun in the beginning, but they killed it after about episode 3). This started off much the same for me. I was scratching my head like, "what's a 97 year old man doing trying to get laid?" Also, since when does a Romulan have an Irish accent. If I'm asking these little questions right off the bat, the show is losing my attention and that's never good.

First, I don't care about Picard's relationship with his mom. I just don't and a person this old and accomplished should have resolved those issues long ago. I mean, move on. I was scratching my head until the end.

The last few minutes are the best. We're back on a Federation starship with the gang (though I'm not really sure why Alison Pill's character is there? She is a murderer after all and not in Starfleet). And the Borg and Q are back! Fun stuff.

Calling it now, the Borg Queen is Picard's mother and the whole season is Mommy Issues. I'm okay with that as long as there's some fun, episodic television. It'll tide me over until May when the new show comes out.

So firstly, ignore all the angry Star Trek nerds on this board. They are talking out their ass and don't know what the hell they're talking about.

I've been watching Star Trek since I was a kid. Started with TNG and went back to watch the other stuff too. Thoroughly enjoying the new stuff coming out as well. (Finished Strange New Worlds before this, another excellent addition to the IP.)

Firstly, the downsides to this series:

    - There are some minor plot holes but nothing you can't overlook. There's a few questionable choices in terms of the direction it all went but I think when taken as a whole season rather than bits and pieces, it was incredibly enjoyable.

    - There's also some times where you might ask yourself why a character doesn't do something they've done a million times before. (Might be thrown in with 'plot holes') I try my best to consider the overall experience. If it's enjoyable, the minor questions and concerns aren't as big a worry. Things happened because that's what was needed to nudge the story along. (A bit part of this is Picard's synthetic body. See: S1)

    - I am still unsure as to whether I like what they did with the Borg as a whole. I don't want to ruin or spoil anything so just watch and judge for yourself. They may do something with it in Season 3 and if so, my judgement may shift.

    NOW, the good!

    - It effectively puts a capper on HALF A DOZEN different threads from Star Trek. Mostly TNG but other ones as well. I won't spoil anything but I THOROUGHLY enjoyed them all. There will be several characters you recognize from the past cropping up.

    - The storyline never bored me and normally I can't 'just' watch a show. I tend to watch in the background. This kept me glued to the screen the entire time.

    - It also kicks off several storyline threads as well. The only one I can say without spoiling anything would be looking more into Picard's past and opening that up for more exploration by the IP.

    - Last but not least: the actors/acting! Once again, won't spoil anything but this had some of the biggest names in Star Trek all in one place. They were all fantastic, sans a few questionable decisions by the director/producer. The show constantly had me either in tears or jumping for joy. (Or shouting at my TV for the characters to shut up and kiss already!)

SYNOPSIS: 8.5/10 - A valuable addition, not only to Picard as a series, but to Star Trek as a whole.

There is just far to much silliness in this season. The whole season is inspired by Picard's hidden issues with his mother, hardly the stuff of good science fiction or good Star Trek, or even even good TV for that matter, These producers need to focus on what Star Trek was and not make it a sop for current social media users - mental issues and female liberation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's 3 episodes worth of material stretched to 10 (!) episodes. It rides on nostalgia only, save the first episode maybe.
Nothing makes sense, the action scenes are laughably bad (slow-speed car chase, crew vs borg) and the dialoge ist atrocious. And this is not me being hyperbolic.
This is one of those seasons where too little and too much is happening at the same time. It's full of stuff but also boring. Quite a feat.
The much teased Q has two significant scenes with Picard and they made Guinan a shotgun-wielding activist with magic powers. The writers seem not to talk to each other (hello, showrunner!) and so this show is treading water.
Picard - once a role model and the emodiment of authority - is a weak old man who did all these great things because his mother hanged herself and not because he was an elightened man. He is also an android for absolutely no reason. Shame on you, writers.
The rest is just nonsensical fluff. The characters stumble around looking for something to do, the timeline should be messed up totally but the show decides all is fine. Oh yes and Picard gets run over with a Tesla by a comicbook supervillain Soong. Some actors play different characters but it doesn't make sense at all.
So there it is: Picard was back for the second season!
It's just so embarassing. And it's a shame because Annie Wersching was really good.

This is not Star Trek - this is NCIS L.A. mixed with time travel and a dash of Stranger Things.

Nobody would mistake Picard for Star Trek in its prime. But it has captured some of that hard to define, easy to recognise Trek essence. And if not exactly at warp speed – there are still a few too many Stewart soliloquies – it has undoubtedly located its missing sense of derring-do and is hurtling satisfyingly towards interstellar overdrive.
