The dialogue is playfully theatrical in its use of language – as you might expect, Sheen and Tennant wring every last soupcon of satisfaction from phrases like “meaty timbre” and “bacchanalian embarrassment”. Tennant and Sheen have decent chemistry, playing friends who are itchily competitive. Tennant has the better deal, cast as the less pretentious one (he also, if appearances are not deceptive, has the better house). Forty minutes of this would have been excruciating. Even 15 feels too long, but I don’t know if that’s because lockdown has ruined my attention span or if the show is a bit too thespy for its own good. Read full review

I've gotta admit I was very pleasantly surprised by this show. On paper, a comedy shot entirely over zoom with two dramatic actors as leads doesn't feel like it would work that well. However, everyone involved puts in a great performance from seasoned actors like David Tennant and MichaelI've gotta admit I was very pleasantly surprised by this show. However, everyone involved puts in a great performance from seasoned actors like David Tennant and Michael Sheen to people like Simon Evans who, from a quick peruse of his Wikipedia page, has limited acting experience. The script is very good and I found myself laughing consistently throughout the season. There's some quotes (like Nicola Sturgeon screaming or the cookie jar song) that I can see me referencing for whole. Furthermore, there's some fantastic cameos in this including Samuel L Jackson and Judi Dench and I appreciated them very much. Overall, its a brief but very funny and earnest comedy which demonstrates that, even with a literal pandemic happening, TV can continue to thrive.… Expand
