Shooter isn't badly done. Some of the dialogue is cheesy ("Your country needs you"), and characters feel like cardboard cutouts. But Phillippe is sympathetic enough, and there is real tension throughout, with an exciting (if not exactly shocking) twist at the end of the premiere. The problem is that Shooter doesn't feel like the right show for our times, which are already tense enough.

The problem with building an action drama around a sniper is that the work by its nature requires people to be several yards away from each other. A climactic gunfight in the season finale goes as far as to show the math--the mental calculations the shooters have to do to make their shot--to juice up the action. It doesn’t work. Shooter excels in one area--grotesque head shots.

Mark Wahlberg as Executive Producer speaks volumes about how the TV series faithfully harkens back to the Movie and the original creators and book author. I really like this series and think it is under rated! I think Rhea Durham should be a guest star.

I loved watching this with the kids. I know most people wouldn't want their kids to see this but I found it was a great introduction for them and can't wait until season 2.

Even though it is not a masterpiece, Shooter is entertaining. Phillippe may not be Mark Wahlberg but he doesn't suck either. The longevity of the show is a mystery but at least it isn't a complete mess.

Some American trash is good. Some American trash is not.
Ryan Phillipe = Good American trash in my opinion, and as a result makes shooter some what watchable.
Pretty weak dialogue and pretty corny.

The story wasn't that interesting, the soundtrack was really bad, the acting wasn't that good (especially Swagger's wife, she's horrible), it wasn't always believable and there were a few plot holes. Do yourself a favour and go watch the movie instead of wasting your time with this series.

What is it with the freaking music so loud. Can't hear the show. Annoying as hell. I like the series but the loud background music is drowning out everything they say. Won't watch next season because of this .
