I went into this expecting nothing, but this new adaptation of Scream may singlehandedly revitalize the slasher genre. It pays homage to the original without feeling forced, and even though the acting leaves a lot to be desired, the meta-humor is still there. This is definitely a show to watch out for.

If you see the first 3 ephisodes you get hooked.
I totally recommended for fans from the first movie as I am. It gets a great technological update and also the subjects are very current : cyber bullying, trolling, self-cutting, streaming... And so on.
It feels kind of teenagery at first but then the plot and sub plots thickens and twist. I enjoy its self-awareness and some times comic

Scream is a great show and appeals to its targeted audience in numerous ways. Audrey Jensen is played by an amazing actress. There are many plot twists and lots of drama. The characters are very realistic and relatable. Its very MTV esq. which may not appeal to the original movies fans as much as the teens following MTV. Overall, the cast is great and I hope for season 3 and so on.

As a fan of the Scream film franchise I went into this show feeling unsure and uneasy. Once I'd realised this would be a completely separate entity, merely sharing theme and ideas with the film franchise rather than being a continuation of the franchise or in any way set in the same universe I was able to enjoy it for what it was. What it is, is a well put together slasher-flick meets high school drama, which works better than people would have expected I'd wager. It's a fun show with likeable characters and a genuine sense of tension and dread at times. It sometimes comes across as a little slow-paced, after all, you can't kill off the teens willy-nilly like you can with a film. Instead there's more plays on the psychology involved, and that works well. There is still plenty of teenagers being slaughtered for our amusement though, so that's good.

The self-referential humour and fourth wall breaking gives the show a certain levity that elevates it. It's what separates it from other similar shows and being a fan of TV serial dramas such as 'Pretty Little Liars' will give you a little extra to enjoy as it occasionally takes jabs at the absurdity of such shows. I would recommend this to most. It's a fun show with no real issues or problems, but it's also not particularly ground-breaking. Still it achieves what it set out to achieve and is unlikely to disappoint genre-fans, or franchise-fans, once they realise it's not in continuity with the films.

"Scream" began with a tribute to the creator of slasher, despite the fact that he did not have too much fundamental participation in the creation of the story. Doing honours to the clichés of the horror, the short but beautiful Bella Thorne's performance (adapting the mythical scene of opening played by Drew Barrymore) gave us a totally interesting and striking premise for fans of the genre.

“You can’t do a slasher movie as a TV series.” - Noah Foster.

It is difficult to find and make series inspired film classics , even more complicated in the horror genre. From the first scene of the series, the energy and youthful atmosphere gives a large boost in favour of adaptation. This is not only smart, is also intriguing, clear! does not have characteristics identical to the Craven but they did a good invention and surprisingly does not become a kind of disgusting reboot. One of the best horror films turned into one of the best series of assassins.

The basis of the story is well entrenched and well structured, interspersed with the precise characters, each with a suspicious profile that does stir the mind to the viewer. In this type of products, where the audience has the possibility to imagine who is the murderer, directors, writers and producers must execute perfectly a few played psychological so that the mind of the spectator is tangled and ultimately surprise us with a killer totally different to subliminally shown in series.

The introduction is clear, precise, and insidious, opening step for a development amazement and very well executed. Each scare is unique not cheap or stupid, every plot twist is necessary and unexpected, each scene is magically illustrated, the appearance of the killer is short but well achieved, music, lighting, angles, scenarios, everything is a nearly perfect blend that connects you to you instantly from episode 1 ('Pilot') to episode 10 ('Revelations'), keeping the emotion, expectation, mystery and intrigue at all times.

Some of its characters are strictly linked with the film, Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) takes his role of girl pursued by some unknown reason (what reason!) maintaining that layer of leave to the public in state
of shock. Choosing actors even without too much fame, is a risky but effective decision that if it is a good hit, it will help to raising even more its quality. The role of Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) is smart, mysterious but very identifiable and unique, she and Emma are the face of this series. Other actors and actresses end up crazy adventure, they exercising their role of good guy, girl with money, girl attacked, bewildered mother, police suspect and reporter friend...

Violence is hard and flawless, great for "Scream", here is required and it is implanted in the best way,

The revelation of who is under the mask , it is fresh and not dumb , being consistent with the realized and leaving many loose ends for the second season .

"Scream" need intelligence, innovation, fear, capture the attention of the audience and achieving it. One of the best series of the year 2015 and the Decade in the horror genre. It maintains the sense of humor and tension, reinforced faces new and interesting items.

The murderer will be some less you think.

As a TV series, Scream has the advantage of having infamous namesake and it does deliver the classic slasher gimmick, although its greatest attribute is its self-awareness. It realizes the obstacles, such as cliché high school setting and transition from movie to series, and rather than trying to gloss it over, Scream faces it head-on with smart quips in addition to the mandatory pool of blood.

Premise remains the same, a killer stalks their preys before mutilating them in gruesome fashion. The show gives this antique gore aptly, it's pretty good in the buildup and effect of the butchering is done with just the right tone. However, it's not just slashing away randomly, it also tries to set an eclectic cast. As the movie itself says, the audience should invest or care about the characters to make the killing efficient.

Characters are presentable, casting fresh actors is a good direction to build the series. They don't veer too much from typical high school kids, but there is effort to broaden the personalities beyond the expected. It uses already proven formula and tweaks it with modern upgrade without overflowing it to needlessly aggrandized aspects.

The main concern is how much the straightforward plot can carry it for many episodes. Its necessity to offer kills can also be taxing for a series and unlike movie sequel or reboot, the nostalgia effect will wear off sooner of latter. Luckily, it has room to expand and with enough mystery, it could work for the long run.

Serializing a slasher flick might have its issues, but Scream is clever enough to turn most of them into perks, making the classic kill fest into a more modern version and also staying true to its root.

This is just proof that MTV has gone down the drain (if Jersey Shore wasn't already proof of that).

And as for all these new TV series by MTV, turn on some lights in the studio! This and Teen Wolf are so dark that you can't see what's going on 75% of the time. I just wish we had gotten a whole new set of trilogies of Scream than this garbage. This show should've been called Stab (like the cheesy frame stories from the actual movie series).

Unfortunately it doesn't have the wit or talent of the first two Scream films, or even Harper's Island, which feels more its spiritual predecessor and major influence than the titular movies. The acting and script is middling, the middle episodes descend into filler and the identity of the killer is fairly obvious from early in the season.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I refrained from writing about this show until I had seen it through until the very end. Though there are more creative death sequences than in any other of the Scream films, unfortunately this show mostly suffers from hiring inept actors, who though may look pretty on screen, are unable to convey any sort of emotion or believability. The other problem with a show of this nature is all the audience wants to see is a blood bath, and right in the middle of the show we have a lull of nothing actually happening for about 2 episodes. Scream was a movie that taught a generation of horror-film fanatics what to do and not do in a situation where a killer comes after you, Scream the series however ignores all this and I found myself constantly yelling at the TV "Call the Cops!", "Don't split up!", "MAYBE BE SMARTER!". The killer was fairly obvious as well from the mid-point, and though there was a *GASP* what-will-happen-next-season moment in the last 30 seconds, it wasn't worth the pain of getting through those 10 episodes. "Scream" tries so hard to create a new classic, with its own mask and its own characters, providing a lot of twists and of blood. Too many twists, in my opinion, especially in season two, where everything felt too messed up. No characters, no realism, just blood. But maybe THIS is the meaning of "slasher". A simple story full of plot holes that people watch just to know who the killer is.
