Bad acting, terrible writing, and all the setup are laughable. Boring to watch, especially episode 4 which is a complete waste.

Worse than Jar Jar (ep. 1) and worse than the Last Jedi. This makes Lego Star Wars seem like Kubrick compared to what we are being given here. For a minute just look on IMDB at the whole team creating this...literal nobodies for a production that COULD and SHOULD have brought in the world's greatest director to tell a story that fans like myself have been waiting decades for. It should've easily been a multi-billion dollar box office hit with someone like Taika Waititi, James Gunn, James Mangold, Denis Villeneuve or JJ Abrams on board. Creative talent should mean something, but instead a bunch of corporate types like Kathleen Kennedy mailed it in and spent all their budget on fake reviews and blaming bad ones on "toxic fans'...lol. BTW....I'm not some Disney Star Wars hater. I LOVED Clone Wars....I LOVED Rebels....I LOVED The Force Awakens...I LOVED The Rise of Skywalker...I Loved The Mandalorian....and I really liked Boba Fett, The Bad Batch, Solo and Rogue One. The Last Jedi isn't a part of my DVD collection and either will Obi Wan...truly sad. This was either the intentional destruction of Star Wars, pure laziness, or some people at Disney should be immediately fired and sent back to kindergarten. Dave Filoni & Jon Favreau....you are our only hope. Expand

Created an account just to say how heartbreaking it is to see a great franchise become absolute dogsh*t. This series is definitive proof that Disney does not care about Star Wars and is actively trying to destroy it.

This show has the grease of corporate film manufacturing all over it. If you claim not to see what I'm about to describe, I implore you to open your eyes, for the good of Star Wars. Disney and Kathleen Kennedy are doing the best they can to put Luke Skywalker and the entire reason for the Star Wars story existing, in our rear view mirrors. They did it to Luke, because he was a strong male lead, with a white skin color at that! Now they're doing it with Obi Wan. In a show where we expected Obi Wan to be an older, but much wiser and more in tune with the force version of the young man we saw in Episode 3, we were instead given a frail, shell of a man. Kathleen Kennedy's version of Obi Wan is weak, hasn't used the force in 10 years even though he's suppose to somehow protect Luke? They're actively undoing everything we grew up with in order to fit the current social climate. The Force is Female, you saw it on their shirts.. and there's nothing wrong with female characters, see Leia, even Rey at first. But what they're forcing is a redemption arc for a completely unwanted character in Reva. The writing is so lazy and easy to interpret(almost like it's written for kids), that even without the spoilers, by episode 3 you can tell that Obi Wan is not the main character of this show.
You have a child version of Leia(again, for what reason? who asked for this? Why is she in OBI WAN KENOBI?) and a female villain who you've instructed in the writing to just yell all the time. Please Disney, look at your audience, instead of seeing detailed critiques from serious fans that treasure the lore and the imaginings of a galaxy far far away and calling them racist, just read them. I assure you in a MAJORITY of them, you will find legitimate critiques based on the writing, skill of the actors, or directing, and not many will you find saying they dislike the show because you cast a black woman.. what a joke.
We the fans love the original Star Wars story, we want to escape this fallen world we live in every single day, we want to escape to a galaxy far, far away. We're trying let our minds rest and dream while we watch these stories, stop bringing the woke treatment to every single thing you lackadaisically create and let us rest. Create GOOD Star Wars, or stop creating the content.

If you want further evidence of how politicized everything with the mouse's finger prints is, look at when the article for the supposed "review bombing" of this show came up, and the time stamps for the actual positive review bombing that came directly after. Good to see all has returned to normal with actual fans rating the show as it is, garbage.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. More poorly developed trash by Disney. The depiction of Obi is almost criminal. It goes against star wars lore and general human nature. No one of Obi Wan high esteem and character would behave this poorly. He is a coward, weak, depressed, and down right of bad character. The story line is weak, and predictable. The feminist/minority agenda will be full-filled when The "third sister", who was forced to be bad, coverts to good to save old helpless Ben. Once again proving that the white male is never a true hero. I may be wrong, but I bet not. Together they will kill a poorly develop antagonist . Well I guess they could kill Vader off, lol.. It is Junk that is only watchable because I am a sucker for anything Star Wars. Expand

Obi Wan is presented as an ineffectual coward multiple times, unlike in movie episodes 1-3 where he is the first to run towards danger and face it. A clear bait and switch designed to idolize Moses Ingram's character (who is a terrible actress in this show) while denigrating its original protagonist. In other words, it's the predictable and pathetic trend of tearing down classic characters and writing them a useless in order to build up a new character that checks certain political boxes. This is a primary sign of subpar low intelligence writers with no ideas being given a franchise that is way out of their league. The Jedi overall are also portrayed as generally incompetent and easily killed, instead of being some of the most powerful beings in the galaxy. This is Last Jedi all over again, but in a way it's worse because it's taking a lot more time over the course of an entire season and carrying out the torture slowly. If you have any love for the originals, DO NOT watch this - It's a waste of your time. Expand

It's absolutely amazing to see Ewan McGregor back in action, especially since I grew up watching the prequels. But this show has just been disappointing so far. From ridiculous chase scenes to laughable disguises, I'm not quite sure how some of the stuff in this show got past the brainstorming phase of writing, let alone actually put into the show. I mean this 100% sincerely: I would rather watch the hypothetical Rian Johnson trilogy.

At least it wouldn't be another lame "prequel." At least he could emasculate his *own* characters instead of every old hero. At least it would be visually novel. At least it would only break general Star Wars world building/canon instead of ruining the old characters in detail. At least it wouldn't be another bait-n-switch where the hero is shown up by our ever-so-wonderful Mary Sue du'jour.

Also the writing would be better. It would be BAD 'cause Rian can't write well, but he's at least better than a D+ writer. With the exception of Wandavision's first half, these are some SERIOUS scrubs writing for D+. No talent, no work ethic. Most of them *don't even thoroughly watch the source material* before they begin "subverting" it & pushing THE MESSIGE.

Hacks. Arrogant hacks. Shame, 'cause this was an easy win. Instead we have juvenile narrative, weak dialogue, & characters molded to fit the narrative instead of the converse. Pathetic.

The writing is sub par and paper thin. Darth has become a oneliner cannon and obvious routes, seen from a mile away, are taken. It is slow, not exciting and facepalm moments galore make me glad it is over. The convenient road is best avoided with so many plotholes. Better take a detour. Being StarWars doesn't automatically mean it is any good cinema. The camera, editing, writing... Sheesh. I am sure any kid of factually 10 years old can do a much better job. I can't take a franchise serious anymore, when the makers think we viewers have a brain of a microbe. This is far below the standard. Nostalgia is not what it used to be. Highlight = Hayden. Expand

Did Disney really think we are stupid?

The Series is full of stupid ideas, first that obi-wan is a compleet loser. He is a space monk, based on buddist monks and knights/paladins of fantasy genre. Why disney want every jedi to break to looser. They are monks, they are indoctrinated and even if they do not want to fight, they do not stop in there believe or training routine. Then the black woman controversy, that is make up by disney! Did disney really think they have a problem with a black woman in a show? No! They have problems with a character that gets more focus in her story, as the main protagonist. She is smarter is the hero, she is stronger as the hero, what make her the HERO. But that show is namend "Obi-wan Kenobi" not the "new character introduction Show".

Then all the stupid things, like the tollstation with the laser fance, laughtable because the writer is so stupid to add such a scene. Then the base infiltration, stolen out of a video game, the underwatertunnel is the same, stolen out of a video game. The exit from the base, a military base, everybody act like they never have ever heared of military routines. Like when the base alarm go on, everybody go on battle stations and the tie fighter start to patrole. No, they wander arround like chickens. But the worst of this series is, that they ruin not only obi-wan, they ruin darth vader to. Both act not like they would act after all the movies, series and book, and i don't even take on the "legend" material. Who they get mostly the best jedi ever trained "obi wan" and make him a looser, than he make his padawan who is now "darth vader" to an reatard. He is in a fire proven body armor and stops on the fire, he do not sent a squard of tiefighters and bombers to a base blockade... he even stops to kill his underling. He is not a guy who stops, he is full of anger, he can't really control if he is in rage and he will destroy everything in his path. he is a juggernaunt... he don't stop! But no disney make him a retard who gets braindeath... when something is not as he plan. Oh you have a tracker... braindeath, restart, let the woman go and say "good". Sorry disney, you don't understand starwars. Its a simple hero story, where the hero is the hero and the bad guy the bad guys. They make a smart and simple hero tale, to a mess like "lost", with stupid ideas.

To all the reviews who give it an 8+ (or even a 10!!! What!?) … do you realize how ridiculous it is that you have to assert your post as not being from a bot? In the same breath that you are acknowledging the flaws of the show - lazy writing, incomprehensible logic, stupid characterizations - you then literally turn around and say, Oh well, it’s entertaining enough, who cares, I give it an 8. Disney have really missed an opportunity to tell an interesting story that fans of the original and prequels trilogies can really connect with, especially a series based around a main character who was at the centre of some very complex galactic politics. There could have been much more interesting storytelling about the formation and coordination of the rebellion, which would have been complicated. Instead, we sacrifice 2 of the most important characters in the series to a kids show. I have nothing against Star Wars kids shows in general, but Disney need to actually use their creative brains and make their own stories set in the same universe, rather than exploiting and disposing of existing characters and narratives, preventing them from ever getting the mature, high-quality shows/movies they deserve. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show shouldn't be named "obi wan". It should be named "reva the third sister" considering she's the driving force behind the narrative of the entire plot. They wrote obi wan into a bumbling beta male that gets led around by the nose by a 10 year old Leia the entire time. So many plot holes plague the show, I mean absolute laughable Scooby Doo type plot holes. It completely neglects the characters it's supposed to be focused on. Throw this one In the garbage next to book of boba Fett. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Few dumb things in this Disney "Star wars" series..

Obi wan was a wise man, but in this show, they make him look like an idiot.(and we all know why, spoilers: because he's a man, men are dumb and useless allright.. )

How did Reva know where Leia is? No explanation.. How did Reva know that Luke is Vader's son? No idea.. Also, Reva's plans make no sense in the show. Then there's 10 year old girl, Leia, outrunning grown men(because men are dumb and useless).. Vader kills Reva.. but she survives.. Vader kills Reva again.. but no, she survives miraculously again.. And, after years of murdering people, Reva "redeemes" herself in the end.. Well, actually one good deed doesn't erase countless bad ones.. but hey this is Disney "star wars" and women can do no wrong..

Convenience is the word here folks..

Anyway, the plot is terrible, that's all you need to know..

I set my expectations for this "show" real low, and yet it managed to underperform.
Nothing makes sense, never, the plot constantly contradicts everything that was said and done both in the Original Trilogy and in the Prequel Trilogy, old characters that have always behaved in a certain manner suddenly became something else entirely in this series, the new ridiculously uninteresting and incredibly poorly written characters are the real protagonists of the entire thing, outshining what should be the two stars, Vader and Obi-Wan and the action scenes are worthless and badly choreographed.
The entire show feels like it was written, directed and edited by a 5 year old and that is mostly because in pure Kennedy/SJW fashion, the appointed director was chosen merely because it was a woman, instead of the talent and it show: the goddamn camera shakes furiously 90% of time as if we were watching some mocumentary and the vast majority of the shots are complete trash.
Soundtrack is awful, poorly composed and doesn't create any sort of emotion, just like the rest, and there is barely any hint at the masterpiece of John Williams.
Overall, this is easily on par with the Sequel Trilogy for how ugly, useless, badly written and full of filler characters it is, with the stark difference that THIS have Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader in it and still manages to not only be trash, but also make the two most beloved Star Wars characters look like complete morons.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly this show made me so angry, I wanted to give it a 0, but objectively, if someone isnt a star Wars fan, I think a 3 is right. So what you get here is another broken Jedi (remember Luke in sequels) that somehow forgot all his training and lost all his skills and became a coward. Suddenly the show revolves around little Leia, who is pictured as wonder child, speaking like an adult and escaping bonty hunters on her 10 years old legs.Obi wan forgot how to use a lightsaber, and ofc a woman saves him. So if you are a Star Wars fan , i could go on but in a nutshell its a destruction of acharacter, again, which made my blood boil. If you arent a Star wars fan, its still a really badly written show with plenty of plot holes and parts that look like a farce. On the good side a few scenes are good, and generally imho the production value is high.Im sad that Ewan took part in this, he is sucha good actor and likable person. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The main character. Once again, we see the lack of understanding from these so-called writers and once again they want to tell their own story and send their own messages which do not go along with what was set in the original story.
Kenobi - a hopeful and strong Jedi. He wouldn’t bury his lightsaber and try to run away from his past. He’d met this head on, and meditate on his mistakes to overcome them. Instead we get this depressed man, who’s years of martial and spiritual training somehow withered, under the weight of his memories. That is not the man who kept going forward after his master died, not the man who went into the Jedi Temple risking his life so that the remaining Jedi wouldn't fall into a trap. So despite the grief, he would never give up hope and stopped being what he was. When Kenobi went to Tatooine it was to hide Luke and himself from the Empire. He had a mission to watch for the boy. Sure, he was under the weight of guilt and pain, he is a living being after all, but his Jedi training has prepared him for such things. Also Obi-Wan wouldn't decline the call for help.Ewan McGregor is playing some dude named Obi-Wan, but when we see that character, it is clear that it is not Obi-Wan. (Even if in the end all his virtues, skills and power instantly returned.)
The Antagonists.
Reva is the angry creature which I haven’t felt any sympathy for. If she sought revenge against Vader, what was the reason to hunt for Kenobi? To get close to her target? Surely there were other ways. And the way she was hurting civilians, chopping off their limbs, screaming out threats esspecially when the other Inquisitors didn’t, makes her even worse. Her attempt to torture Leia doesn’t bring much sympathy for her neither. And that is a problem with that character – she isn’t consistent. Her plan is futile. Usually when the character seeks revenge he creates a plan, a design. It may have it's downsides but from the perspective of that being the plan will be consistent. Reva has no real plan for her revenge. And she is not after power. Power and revenge are two focuses of any being corrupted by The Dark Side. Instead, we have nothing. She is a villain, but not really. I should feel sympathy, but I don't because she cuts off hands, tortures kids and all that FOR NO REASON.
And in the end she goes after the child of his enemy. She’s willing to hit that low for her revenge but she won’t try to kill the boy’s guardians. By watching the previous films I know that these two characters won't die and I haven't felt any danger. And many fans knew that as well. So what was that all about?
Vader is needless here. He is not the villain, though perhaps he should’ve been.
There is no antagonist with enough motivation to follow Kenobi. But there are two whiny creatures that doubt their actions at every possible turn. Villain can have emotions, but when he is consumed by doubts it makes him less interesting to watch. I don’t believe that Vader would’ve just stood and watched Obi-Wan being saved, when he was so close to his revenge, especially in such a theatric and poetic manner. The antagonists? Ruined. Unfocused. Inconsistent. Choreography.
Clearly the movies were superior in that regard as well as the cartoons. Here though? I didn’t felt Obi-Wan’s mastery, or how unexpected and dominant a Vader’s style would be. It’s just lazy work, an empty one. Not the fault of the actors, but certainly of the one who created these duels which have no soul, and no meaning. The flashback of Anakin and Obi-Wan training felt kind of out of place, but apart of bringing us the feeling of Star Wars, it wasn’t meaningless and had a message in it so it was a good move.
The last fight. No one seems to understand the reason why George wouldn't give Force Wielders to much power. But I think I know the answer. In one scene we see Vader unable to do something about the wall of fire, in another we see him crushing the ground beneath. Kenobi barely catches a girl, but then lifts massive amount of stones like a Mary Sue.
Conclusion.
In my review on Boba Fett I explained in details why his character was broken even before the show has began, by Dave Filoni who tried to make the cold blooded bounty hunter into a warrior following the medival code. And there is also a case of Luke Skywalker from The Last Jedi movie. The problem is always the same. Those who rule over company do not want seek professionals, giving them more time to do their work. Instead, there is a rush, a schedule, and the desire of a company to make more money in the expense of art and the nostalgia, while also manipulating the collective mind that there are so many racists out there and that only they don’t like the show, so that the producers can do whatever they want and if you won’t like it – you’re the racist. Or chauvinist. Or some other label that makes your opinion obsolete even if your criticism has a lot of weight.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show has so many problems and not watchable at all. Where to begin?:

-Leia "running" away from the kidnappers in the forest?! Like how does a 10 year old run away from grown adults who "run" so slow and run into branches on purpose?! Really??
-Joke of a fight between Vader and obi wan. Obi wan is a coward who runs away with no skill whatsoever. What happened to him? How does he expect to train Luke and protect Luke in the future if hes such a bad fighter now?!
-Fire wall not stopping Vader, Vader not using the force to pull obi wan back into fire. Vader basically just letting them go.
-Obi wan and Leia trying to disable the laser gate when they could have obviously just walked around the gate!
-Tala slapping the storm trooper on the helmet and brings him down with a slap. really?
-Tala and the muffled choking of the troopers behind the machines. How can anyone not hear this!? so unbelievable.
-Obi Wan swimming in the ocean and coming out into the base, clothes dry, not wet at all, not dripping any water. Where did all the water go??! His clothes should be soaking wet! Also when obi wan escapes the hallway with flooded water and the door closes, no water comes out at all on the other side of door. Perfect timing from Tala! Congratulations! or maybe Obi Wan has magic clothes that repel water! Who knows with this show!?
-Obi wan hiding in a straight corridor from troopers who did not see him duck behind the wall. How the hell did the troopers not see him?!
-Obi wan hiding Leia in a trench coat! Who thought this was a good idea?! Practically and Visually ridiculous!
-Reva outsmarting Darth Vader while under a force choke. How did Reva know Leia would escape that she had the foresight to put a tracker on her droid? Darth should have killed Reva then and there, but no, she outsmarts him and lives.
-The Reva lightsaber deflections with the snow-speeder in the hanger. It was so awkwardly filmed and angled.
-The snow-speeder pilot dies and there's this long montage of sad faces. I'm sorry, are we supposed to feel sad for a character we just met briefly at the start of the show and know nothing about? The show is so badly directed and written with no attention to detail at all. It feels like just one scene moving onto the next scene with hardly any connection at all. Just set piece moving onto next set piece. This Leia kidnapping should have been over by episode 3. But this keeps dragging on with only 2 episodes left.
What role does Hayden have left? We barely saw him. Fans expected some dialogue and interaction, maybe a flashback with Hayden and Ewan. All we got was Hayden staring far away at Ewan. No interaction at all between the two actors. Hayden better have something to do in the last 2 episodes of the show.

This show was marketed with Hayden and Ewan heavily by Disney before the premiere, with some Reva and no mention at all of Leia. It was a bait and switch. This show is titled "Obi Wan", yet he's a side character. Reva should be a supporting character at best. I am so done with this show.

More plot holes than pot holes on a UK road... Everyone who had anything to do with creating this absolute abomination of a show needs to be sacked.

I made the mistake of thinking that this show would be about Obi-Wan Kenobi. My mistake. Disney should hire someone old enough to read a story before they try to write one. What a mess of utter senseless inarticulate shlock.

Whoo boy. This is a bad show. Nonsensical and deranged for nearly its entire runtime, with the episodes getting worse as they go. Another story that did not need to be told that continues to cheapen what Star Wars used to be.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Dumbest chase scenes in the history of cinema. In this universe, 10 year old kids have the sprinting power of a doped up olympic athlete. Villains are stopped by cloth awnings and small fires they could easily circumvent.

This show must of been produced by people with an institutional loathing for the human race. Proof? Despite seeing all the death and destruction wrought by Vader, Obi-Wan spares his life a SECOND TIME. Nonsensical to the extreme. It would have been so much more interesting to conceive of a scene where they were unable to fight and had some stimulating dialogue instead.

Most of the acting falls in the subpar to embarrassing range with the ironically enough the best performance coming from a brief cameo from Ewan McGregor's IRL daughter. I would say her performance, the Jedi vs Storms at the beginning and the second V vs. Obi Wan duel are the only redeeming moments in this otherwise insulting endeavour.

I DO NOT consider this steaming, heaping pile of garbage canon. Instead, it should be relegated to the trash compactor.

Scenery superb! Dialogues and plot devastating. All in all really boring, no relevant surprises at all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best thing about this series is the acting is fairly solid all round. It's just a shame the writers gave them nothing to work with. Obi-Wan is reduced to a pathetic version of himself and abandons his only job in episode one, Leia has no character growth (it would have been nice to see how she becomes headstrong and grows into the awesome woman she becomes) and Reva's plan for revenge only works because everyone reacts precisely as they need to to make it happen. Don't even get me started on her motivation ... she's spent the last 10 years killing men women and children just to get close to Vader to revenge the killing of men women and children. The most apathetic writing of any Star Wars show to date. Such a shame. It has a few fan service moments which are nice to enjoy but it could have been so much more. Disney are just churning out content, it's not art anymore. Expand

This series is average, the first episodes are lower and lower levels, with the apogee in the fourth installment, not what better episode VI does not save the series, at most it does not lose our time like the previous ones. Too bad potentialThis series is average, the first episodes are lower and lower levels, with the apogee in the fourth installment, not what better episode VI does not save the series, at most it does not lose our time like the previous ones. Too bad potential is wasted. Instead of the story of the hermit who was to be Obi Wan Kenobi, we got the story of the Third Sister that no one asked for. Instead of a show that might have had a little bit of intelligence, we have the same as the cinematic episodes VII, VIII and IX, which is an incoherent mush full of unnecessary CGI where stupid people make stupid decisions. Very bad decisions from the very top of the ladder, so the producers are the first to blame. Almost nothing works, except visuals, a FEW dialogue lines and parts of music from Williams. Almost nothing works, except visuals, a FEW dialogue lines and parts of music from Williams. That's why it's 3/10, not lower. The choice of writers with no knowledge about universe is shocking. The director somehow managed to make the lightsaber fights laughable and lame. Both Vader and Grand Inquisitor were wasted, to push Reva to the front line. The numbers of absurd decisions from Vader, it was just sad to watch. Expand

That's the plot Disney sends us on for the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series. True, it has everything that belongs to Star Wars: lightsabers, the Force, Jedi, Darth Vader and the sands of Tatooine. But a real "Star Wars feeling" still doesn't come up. The series lacks the right music and size in its production - everything is as small as possible. Kenobi is a broken hero when we see him again in the first episode. The old white man has resigned, and only in the course of the plot does he regain his strength. The producers don't take the canon too seriously: Luke and Kenobi already meet here and the flashbacks between Anakin and Kenobi are supposed to give more depth to the conflict between the two characters, but they seem rather ridiculous. We all know how it ends between Obi and Darth Vader and who defeats Darth Vader in the end, why try to build suspense here where there is none? Hayden Christensen is too old as a young Anakin and Ewan McGregor is too young as Kenobi, considering he's the age of Sir Alec Guinness in Episode IV... there's a lot wrong with that. In general, the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but Vivien Lyra Blair as Leia outplays everyone. The series seems as if the only intention was to attract more subscribers to Disney+ with the big name "Obi-Wan Kenobi". With the thin plot, the desperate attempt to fit into the big story arcs, and the struggling actors, success is doubtful. Obi is one of the great characters in the Star Wars universe, and he deserves a better series with a more innovative plot. "The Clone Wars" has told so many good stories around Obi - that's the benchmark. And the new series fails completely. Expand

So bad. Who are these new characters that NO one cares about? I laughed really hard at them. Oh also, keep your kids away from Disney.
