This is a review of the first season of the original run of Naruto from episodes 1-25, English dubbed. It has great, developed, memorable characters, awesome animation, incredible action sequences, and an enveloping, incredible world. It is my favorite anime, by far, next to Cowboy Bebop. That being said, looking at the first season from an objective view point, it has slow pacing, little action, and many of the Shonen anime cliches (when something 'incredible' happens the shocked faces of all those in the scene are suddenly blasted on the screen, long monologues during a battle, etc.). This is of the first season. I really don't care, myself. I relish every episode. But putting myself in a position of whether I would recommend it to anyone on the spot, it disdains me that the beginning of the series is kind of off-putting to non-anime fans. So to average out my opinion with those who haven't yet seen the show, I have lowered my review to a 5/10. This score is of the first season, remember. The show really picks up during the chunnin exams arc with more character development, action, and a further exploration of the shows universe. So, would I recommend the first season of Naruto? Yes. But you may not like it. The fact is some people have different tastes. Some don't like anime. I do and I don't blame other people who could care less.
