Daredevil was excellent. I liked everything about it. The pacing between light moments and violence. The variety of characters, all played so well. Matt as an attorney was spellbinding, as a friend endearing, and as Daredevil impressive and terrifying in turns. Wilson Fisk was perfect, balanced between insane brutality and complex sensitivity.

Charlie is a blind lawyer by day. He has a few sidekicks, also lawyer types but not blind, so they have no powers.

The downsides to the show are Charlie's lawyer-sidekicks. They don't really have anything to offer Charlie as superheroes (they both, sadly, were cursed with 20/20 vision) and mainly seem to be used a light and cheesy counterbalance to Charlie's dark and bloody burden of being Daredevil. The problem is that Charlie isn't that dark. He's always sulking about what he has to do and moaning to acquaintances or priests in confession. Charlie is conflicted, and it's clear that violence is a tool for him and not a guilty pleasure. We get it. WE DON'T NEED CHEESEY SIDEKICK SCENES TOO! SACK THEM! Or badass them up, whatever.

Absolutely amazing TV shows, great characters, particularly the villain Wilson Fisk and his assistant, Wesley. In my opinion this is one of the best things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, containing a dark, gritty and realistic story, similar to the Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series, and yet still contains some of the wit and humour that is becoming Marvel's trademark.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is awesome! It takes the style of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and makes it darker, more bloody, and a lot more awesome. The characters all have enough development to make you fear for their lives when watching them fight against the Hand, The Punisher, and Kingpin. Most of the characters stay true to the comic books, except for Daredevil 's suit, which looks way more awesome than it's comic book counterpart, and is virtually indestructible . I think that he could fit in with the MCU, unlike some of the other Marvel TV Shows. This is a must see for any Super Hero Fans, and even for anybody who needs a new show to watch. Expand

DC comic’s offerings (Arrow, The Flash etc.) are decent at times but I quickly lost interest and Agents of Shield, which I had fairly high hopes for after the success of Marvel’s movies, was simply way too safe and family friendly.

Fortunately, Daredevil is different, and easily betters any other effort in the genre thus far. A large part of it success is down by the creators obvious affection for the source material and, not bound by the constraints of network TV, it is able to be tell a suitably dark and gritty tale. Daredevil also importantly takes the time to develop all the main and supporting characters, something which is particularly important in the case of Fisk (The Kingpin). Part of the credit for the effectiveness of this character has to be given to the superb performance of Vincent D’Onofrio but, by giving him his own motivations, he becomes more than just another ‘bad guy’ and this really adds to the impact of the events that take place.

The only slight negative in this first season was the usual problem of the bad guys not just killing the good guys when they get the chance (Austin Powers mocked this nearly 20 years ago and yet we still see it all the time on TV and in movies!) but I’m certainly very much looking forward to season two.

When Marvel first started making movies, they never dreamed they'd be getting the stars, exposure, or the nearly half a billion dollar box office receipts for every film they release. Perhaps the most overlooked element in Marvel's wave of success is the writers and directors, which is really what has led to the big stars, better films, and ultimately the TV series.

Marvel attempted to introduce Daredevil in 2003, in what amounted to one of the worst superhero movies I've ever seen. The plot was nonexistent, they rushed the characters backstory, and the acting was a joke. They learned from theses mistakes however, and reinvented the character in the Netflix series by the same name.

Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) was blinded in an accident when he was a child, but despite losing his sight, he gained other abilities. His other senses became super strong and he was trained to use them to help defend himself. As a youth, despite his training, Murdock decided to fight injustice in the courts and became a lawyer, eventually starting a firm with him best friend, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson). Being a lawyer didn't always get Murdock the justice he sought, so he started using his training, and going out at night to fight crime as the devil of Hell's Kitchen, eventually dubbed by the press as Daredevil.

On the surface, people will look at this series and see another superhero show, but when you sit down to watch it, you will realize that the writing makes all the difference. This is one of those shows where the superhero element is an after thought, because everything else is so realistic and believable, that aside from the fight scenes, you forget that you're watching a Marvel superhero show. The criminals developed for this show, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) and The Punisher (Jon Benthal) are as good, if not better, than any villain ever seen in any of the Marvel franchises. Beyond that the show has a lot of legal and courtroom elements to it, a medical angel, family and romance issues, I don't say this often, but this show actually does have a little bit of something thrown in there for absolutely everyone!

Even if you're not into superheroes, even if you can't stand them, there will be at least one element to the Daredevil series that you will enjoy, I guarantee it. As for the fans, I know it's been a while, but no need to fret, Daredevil have been renewed for a third season, and lead actor Charlie Cox has signed on for the eventual collaboration series, that will include all four Netflix-Marvel characters.

The characters also all remain consistent without being predictable with the exception of the costume maker between season 1 and 2.

The scenes can be a bit visually dark, obscuring some of the action, but for the most part we have a clear image of everything that's happening. The enduring damage of constant combat is also a nice touch.

Hats off to Vincent D'Onofrio. Fantastic performance and really brought his character to life.

If I have a gripe, it would be that there is perhaps too much buildup. The story did drag at times. A bit more action and superhero stuff would have been nice. Also would be nice if they would expand on DD's rogues gallery in season 2 onwards. Season one was very lacking in this regard.

    Overall:
A great show and I hope to sea allot more in the years to come.

    Side note:
I know it's a Netflix exclusive, but an eventual Blu ray release would also be good (not everyone has stable internet connectivity.)

Vincent D'Onofrio's return as the Kingpin really makes this season but I will say this. I am getting a bit sick of each season of a Marvel show building up a villain's origin to then have them return in full form for the following season. They did this with Kingpin, then Elektra, and now Bullseye. Overall very well done, but the last episode could have had more action, drama and twists.

Bringing it to the smaller screen allows these things to be done on an even greater scale. The grounded nature of the street-level super hero that is Daredevil allows Marvel to explore the effects the superheroes have on the lives and opinions of individual people, which is an interesting concept. This alone would be enough to recommend Daredevil, but this merely scratches the surface.

Being a solid mix of superhero action, court-room drama, and film-noir there are many facets to Daredevil that make it an enjoyable show in it's own right; regardless of the MCU. I many ways this show takes what has been done in many films before it; Christopher Nolan's, "The Dark Knight" immediately springing to mind, and surpasses it just by virtue of having far more time to go into the various themes of the show in detail. This makes the show delightfully multi-faceted while also giving it the depth of a film with a strict focus. The effects of becoming a vigilante weighing on your psyche are merely alluded to in 'The Dark Knight' while here they're thoroughly explored. At the same time in other scenes, the focus will shift and single shot, visceral fight scenes on par with the very best of cinema; constantly reminding me of classic fight scenes from the likes of 'Oldboy' with the very realistic crunch of bones and weight of impacts being felt. Watching combat in Daredevil feels like you're watching the gritty realism of grown men trying to kill each other with their bare hands. While all this is going on, the cinematography is unparalleled. With most shots sticking to the noir aesthetic and almost every shot being done with practical camera effects, the immersion is high and the lack of CGI leaves me speechless just by virtue of the restraint shown.

All of this gives Daredevil a pedigree that is amongst some of the best in all of film, let alone just TV. My lone critique is that the show spends almost it's entire 13 episode first season building up Matt Murdock with him only really becoming the titular Daredevil at the end of the series, which would have felt like the worst case of blue-balls where it not for the fact that this show has a second season to explore the now established Daredevil, rendering this whole point moot.

A whole hearted recommendation to everyone. Even if you're not normally a fan of the superhero genre, this is more the rebirth of film-noir as a mainstream genre anyway, and it pulls it off with aplomb. Watch it, you will love it.

I figured a film adaptation was more appropriate, but I was dead wrong. Daredevil is one of Marvel's best projects to date and it really gives you something completely different then we are seeing in Marvel films. It really doesn't feel like a super hero show. It is primarily a crime drama with moments of great action scattered throughout the series. This story feels real and the characters feel real. Hell's Kitchen is such a great setting for the show that it is almost a character and the dark and grittiness really suits this series. There are so many great characters and it never feels like there are too many. The development is far more significant in a 13 episode season than it would have been during a 2 hour film.

Charlie Cox is a guy who came out of no where to become one of biggest comic book heroes to near perfection. Cox showed lots of dedication to the role and really brought us the best version of Daredevil we have ever seen. Cox also handles Daredevil's alter ego Matt Murdock beautifully. Cox is surrounded by other key pieces of the cast like Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Eldon Henson as Foggy Nelson. Both these characters have great interactions with Murdock and their relationship is tested at several points during the season. One episode is dedicated to Nelson and Murdock's relationship which allows the viewer to see their friendship as a deep and strong union.

Wilson Fisk, known in the comic books as Kingpin is likely the most well known Daredevil villain. Vincent D'Onofrio would not exactly be my first choice to play the character. It takes the full season for you to fully see how exceptional D'Onofrio is in this role. Like the other characters Fisk is developed throughout the show and also gets a episode dedicated to his upbringing and gives us a broader perspective of why he does what he does.

I found that Daredevil really only got better as it went on, but that should really be what a series like this should do but there are certainly points that are going to hold you over until the huge climax at the end. I found the ending to this season (no spoilers) so outstanding and it was one of the best finale episodes I have seen on any show. I know I have been late in checking out Daredevil but now I get to check out Season 2 immediately.

The DareDevil show took off where Arrow drop the ball with season thee and four. The drama was tightly focused and the action realistically grounded. Good villain to hate on with a satisfying ending to the series. Awesome out of ten for a TV production.

An excellent debut season. The story is great and gets better and more compelling as the season goes on. The fighting scenes are raw and well done, the characters are great, and they get better. My only complaint is that the start is a bit slow, but that makes the rest of the season all the more intense and exciting.

Daredevil season 1 was fantastic. Daredevil himself was portrayed well, but the villain stole the show. He saw himself as the hero, and he had more depth than any other MCU villain. While things slowed down in the second half, it had a very satisfying conclusion.

Daredevil Season 1 is a great series that will charm those looking for violent Marvel.
Now, it has a big problem: dynamism.
You're practically going to feel that the episodes are very similar to each other and no apparent change.
Also, in the middle of the season there is a change in the dynamic of the series that is remarkable: much less action.

I wasn't interested at first but I gave it a try and it was brutally awesome. I like how they got the charathers right, the story is dark and disturbing, it just making you want more of the action and storytelling. This is by far the best Marvel TV Show ever!

A good origin story with compelling characters, Fisk is great and the action is amazingly shot and the story avoids the bathos that drags down marvel properties for me.

This is a great series. The choreography for the fight scenes is top-notch. There are some amazing hallway combat scenes. Solid performance from the actors across the board, especially Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays a fantastic villain.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Daredevil season 1 for me is the best season of the best Marvel Netflix show to date. Everything about this season works perfectly: the story, the dialogue, the action, the acting, the villain, etc. The backstory and origin for Daredevil are mixed in really well with Matt Murdock’s story as an adult and don’t disrupt the flow of the episodes or season at all. Murdock’s struggle to balance his work life with his vigilante life and how that struggle impacts his relationships with his friends is interesting and engaging to watch. The action and fight choreography are top notch; the hallway fight is probably the best action sequences in any of the Marvel Netflix shows, and other sequences raise the bar as well. Overall they show how much ass Matt Murdock can kick despite how vulnerable he really is and the fact that he doesn’t have any overly fancy superpowers. This show uses its supporting characters well and not only gives them moments to impact Murdock but also to effect the show itself and almost be more than supporting characters. The acting overall is fantastic; every substantial cast member makes the best out of the screen time they’re given and we see some actors who we haven’t seen much of before really shine in this show and show us what they’re capable of as actors. But, with all that said, the villain is where this season succeeds the most. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin is an intimidating, effective and scary villain and is all of that without any special abilities other than his influence and power. There are people like Kingpin who exist in the world today, which makes him even scarier. D’Onofrio doesn’t just play this character, he defines this character and is likely the only actor who could ever truly play him on the big or small screen. This season does something that we haven’t really seen before, which is to give the villain a backstory. We learn about Fisk’s past in one of the episodes, and it adds a lot of depth to the season and Fisk’s character. His fate at the end of the season leaves room for future storytelling, something a lot of villains don’t get. At the end of the day, other than Murdock’s abilities and him being a one-man army, everything about this show is completely realistic of situations we can and do see in the real world, a luxury we don’t get with so many other superhero movies and TV shows. With a few law concepts thrown into the mix as well, Daredevil season 1 is a must-watch for fans of the character and Marvel fans in general. Expand

Great writing, great acting and I get the impression that everyone that’s involved in this really cares about the show. I don’t know where to begin with this show. It’s so good. Everything about this show is perfect. It’s brutal, it’s real, it’s gritty.

Superhero stuff is usually held back so it can be suitable for kids but this it goes all out. At one point I held this show as the top

Superhero stuff is usually held back so it can be suitable for kids but this it goes all out. At one point I held this show as the top level superhero show. All the the other Marvel movies suck in comparison to this. Daredevil blew me away. Look at the movie before this and your left confused how that character can be this good with B and C list actors.

I don’t want to spoil anything but this show is for a more adult audience. There’s more adult themes and there’s some gruesome scenes in here that can be hard to watch. It’s a realistic world they built here but add on the superhero stuff on top of it. It’s the right way to do this.

This is Dark Knight levels of awesome but also Seven (movie) levels of intrigue. A must watch. Ten!

When given an open-ended continuity, Marvel properties excel at picking and choosing the best moments offered by their source material. Daredevil Season 1 does exactly that through an impressive and refreshing journey of a blind man searching for justice inside and outside of the courtroom.

It's rich with character development, don't get me wrong--honestly, there's a point where you almost feel that you understand the supervillain better than the superhero--and offers up a lot of entertainment along the way. It's just not "The Wire."

Some of the show’s episode-by-episode plot threads do come across as perfunctory filler. And Daredevil has a tendency to stretch out its conversational scenes to the point of enervation, especially with regard to Fisk’s attempts to romance an art gallery owner (played by Man of Steel’s Ayelet Zurer). However, the show makes up for those missteps with its clear and compelling voice.
