OK...so here is the thing about this show. I actually like the actor who plays Daredevil (Murdoch). Plus I like Fisk's character, his sidekick, (although he is a little bit of a rip-off of the sidekick from Banshee), Fisk's girlfriend and all of the bad guys (Especially Madam Gow!!!) However, I CANNOT stand the investigative reporter, Fogey, or the blond chick that is Murdoch and Fogey's secretary. Their acting is sub-par plus they get the stupidest dialogue (which is part of why I hate their acting). I want to fast forward every-time they come on the screen. they really bring the show down. Overall, I DO like the show and plan to keep watching but simply can't get enthusiastic about it and can't give it a complete thumbs up. I'm about halfway through the first season and keep hoping the contributions these three bring will improve or at LEAST one of them will get killed off. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 1) Too much focus was given to Karen and Foggy. They were kinda boring and didn't deserve that much attention, except only for the link between Karen and Ben Urich, which was done quite well. But for the rest, these characters didn't had much to offer to the overall plot. Also, aside from chapter 1 and 3, the Nelson and Murdock law firm didn't do anything really relevant to the plot. They were most of the time just "thinking" and in the dilemma of "how can law bring down such a poweful man?" (something that didn't even matter in the end, because they only brought Fisk down because an opponent lawyer agreeded to give Foggy lots of Fisk confidential documents). Matt only appeared in court once. His skills as a lawyer could have been better explored.
    2) The Matt's Ras al Ghul-like professor and the red ninja clan were mostly there just to tease people to watch the next season, they were pretty amazing addictions yet their participation in the plot was very small. Also, I found them to be way more interesting than Fisk.
    3) The last episodes had a very poor writing. And by that I generally mean episodes 11, 12 and 13. They had silly deaths, such as Wesley's and Ben Urich's, which didn't made any sense. Also, I thought that a Foggy's death would have been pretty reasonable and useful, yet it didn't happen. These last episodes also felt too unatural and over-tenseful, and that may be due to the fact that the writer wanted to call more attention and make an epic finale where Matt really becomes Daredevil. However, that ending was quite fallacious. It felt like the writer just ignored lots of issues raised by the previous chapters and went to the most predictable ending.
Still, the action wasn't bad and I expected this series to be worse.

The action is interesting and feels different than other superhero movies, and that's both refreshing albeit sometimes overwhelming (it is very violent). However, some of the storytelling is awkward and some of the acting doesn't quite land, so suspension of disbelief takes a bit of work. Positives:

    Fight scenes
    Other non-fighting Daredevil scenes
Any scene without Foggy, but with Murdoch

    Cons:
    Cliche Childhood Flashbacks
    Cliche Villains
Cringe-worthy scenes with Foggy character (He's basically Jar Jar Binks)

Generally I can not understand such a frenzy for the film adaptation of almost every Marvel Comics heroes.
I've watched four episodes, and I could not keep watching remaining of this series.
Good acting, not the action itself is a bad in this tv series, but the overall impression is that too many comic book heroes on TV screens.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Suspended disbelief. The story is bad, fight sequences are bad, acting is bad.

Alot of the fight sequences are abysmal, the first episode started okay coasting into the unknown. Then a boxer cartwheels like a monkey, using drunken fist. The boomerang trajectory ricochet was absolutely blinding.

Moving onto episode 2. Maybe we would have like to see his wounding rather then him turning up in the clan hospital. Breaking the first superhero rule, giving away identity. Must have been bandaid for vigilante recruitment, rather then any morphine eh doc? Although the later scream mask, was so comical. The fire extinguisher dropped from 3 floors up, a headshot doesn't kill any unsuspecting. Neither does being pushed off of 5 stories.

Onto the drunk brawl, faceplam. The dyspraxic use of coordination engaged. Not one of the punches shown had any power behind them, no weight, no style, they wouldn't have made a 5 year old cry. Apart from when looking like a lumberjack, off the camera, not showing the victim engaged, that any punches were connecting with. Don't hurt the stuntman, no, really don't hurt those stuntman. He disarms a shotgun, the knee and headbutt used, what was that? The right hook upon entering the first room. Who the hell steps into a broken door? He has a shotgun although doesn't swing it like a bat. He isn't going to fire that shotgun anyway. This show hasn't decided if he is a killer, or rather not. He toe pokes, it wouldn't score a goal with, so why hasn't he fallen over yet, because he is going to do a later roll for some unknown reason? The biggest laugh was him actually falling over the guy in the doorway upon fight ending. There was a better roundhouse kick somewhere in the fight. The leap off the wall to put the guy in the doorway was without any elbow, cannot imagine anyone becoming unconscious. The were some armpit punches to enemies lying on the ground that also demostrate the lack of jab

He trains on a punch bag. Where did he learn how to roll, or judo? A skipping rope is out of the question, no hand to eye coordination.

In some justification there were some much better cordinated fights scenes throughout the episodes seen, although sometimes often mostly lacking, containing largely those, above properties demonstrated.

The story, dialogue have also been quite bad. The bar scene with trueblood's worm in the tequila, yawn. Amongst the courtroom standup. A blindman covered in facial bruising representing GBH. That will win an acquittal, quite evileye it surely will. The yakuza coke factory the blind leading the blind, so tell me why the last guy who was packaging is winking?

He drops some badguy's at the police station, others he does not, how did the first slaver get away into later episode, he must not have wanted to carry him all the way from the docks.

Quite funny watching these errors when not faster forwarding to find them

I wanted this to be a better show, but the potential is still there judging by the finale. Fisk never really emerges as a super villain so much as an arrogant developer (he's too hands off!), which was hugely disappointing considering the lengths the show went to in demonstrating each one's conflicting emotions and unchecked responses. Reverse that for DD, who spends too much time in church and delivering blustery lines that sound like he's in mid-sob on EVERYTHING. They got the non-stereotypical black/white bad/good guys approach right, they just didn't spend enough time on their dominating sides, showing the stark contrasts and dichotomies both represented.

But I'll hang in there for Season 2 if the finale is any indication of the pickup in pace and costumes needed. Character exposition is okay, good even. But this is a superhero show - it's already a cartoon simply by premise, so let's not spend too much time there. Let's get out and kick some butt!

Tropes, implausibility, and lack of continuity plage this season just like the last. The story is more grounded, but the magic wipe-off beatings that magically heal with a little water, or the massless objects that are tossed with lethal impact even though that breaks a few laws of physics, are just some of the issues. The age old device of breaking up of the band, only to have it come back together to win the day, is quite possibly one of the worst oldest and most over-used story devices in comics. To see it transverse onto the screen in this was was just lazy. Finally, for the "man without fear", Daredevil/Matt certainly shows a lot of it this season. One positive is that the last episode is everything we wanted from the entire season, unfortunately it was only one of thirteen. Far too little for more than a 6.5.

For those claiming constant concussions, two story falls onto hard ground, major lacerations healing in a few days, or Fisk knowing exactly when to make a phone call (to the second) is realistic, should really seek the care of a physician.

A show for 12 years old. Better that the Avengers but don't expect to much, it's still comics. Most of the actor are not very good, it's probably the only time you will ever see them.

Its a mixed bag. Sometimes cool and exciting. Sometimes dull and boring. The actors does an ok job but the characters feel bland. If that is down to acting or writing i dont know but my stomach tells me that i think the actors could have done a better job overall.

It's rich with character development, don't get me wrong--honestly, there's a point where you almost feel that you understand the supervillain better than the superhero--and offers up a lot of entertainment along the way. It's just not "The Wire."

It's competently assembled but ultimately sort of hollow.

Some of the show’s episode-by-episode plot threads do come across as perfunctory filler. And Daredevil has a tendency to stretch out its conversational scenes to the point of enervation, especially with regard to Fisk’s attempts to romance an art gallery owner (played by Man of Steel’s Ayelet Zurer). However, the show makes up for those missteps with its clear and compelling voice.
