Promising premise, great cinematography, great acting on Jodie Comer's part, good soundtrack. But man is writing in this show abysmally terrible. If a character starts tailing a professional assassin who knows she's being trailed there's probably about a 100% chance that character will be killed. That's just one example of the silliness of the show. I made it through the first 4 1/2 episodes until Villanelle gets into Eve's house. Don't waste your time on this crap. It starts brilliantly but loses steam after the fourth episode, descending into a cartoonish parody of the spy genre. A pity, because the cat-and-mouse game between a super-assassin and a determined spy had all the ingredients of a crackling thriller. Sadly, even a willing suspension of disbelief cannot save this mish mash of a plot.

Complete and utter garbage. The plot is so implausible it’s just impossible to watch. This crazy psycho goes around killing people yet bizarrely every time anyone has the chance to shoot her they errrr....just don’t and guess what, the psycho escapes again.... Trash.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just started watching this show because of the high critical reception. I didn't even read the premise. It's an action - spy thriller and I don't like a single word of that. The first two episodes were actually funny and I watched another two solely because it's written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and I loved Fleabag. So after four episodes, I'm hoping it will improve and I'll have to watch the rest because I'd already finished half the season and if I dropped it then I would think that I had wasted my time. I finished watching it today morning (I don't binge) and was so relieved that I was done with this piece of crap. I hate almost all of the characters including the protagonist and the antagonist. I am also of the opinion that this series would be slightly better if it had half hour episodes.
Spoiler Alert (But not really) : Eve isn't killed and none of the characters wanted to kill her, at least that's what I understood.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 4 episodes in and wondering when I'm supposed to care about any of it. It doesn't even go for the most perfunctory believability, none of it even remotely makes sense.

Eve is supposed to be this genius, except that nothing she does is particularly genius-like, and each time she's under stress she turns into a gibbering nitwit. These are supposed to be MI5 agents and they talk and act like hysterical idiots. Like probably no spy ever, the Bill character, a 61-year old man, goes after the assassin by himself, unarmed, walking into a crowded dance club hoping to do who knows what and, big surprise, is promptly killed.

And the assassin character is too silly and childish to take seriously for even a single second. This show is billed as a drama when it's actually a cartoon, except without the laughs, an Austin Powers movie has more credibility than this drivel. BO-ring.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Long version.

(I managed to get to episode 4) Whilst it started interestingly enough, it very quickly became undone with plot holes, unrealistic scenarios and characters that weren't particularly sincere or believable. For example in what world would a Secret Intelligence Officer get out of a car whilst under pursuit by a known hit women A) without a firearm and B) Just to wave and have a little chat. Also would a Secret Intelligence Officer continue to stay in a house when they are aware a professional assassin with a motive knows their address? I don't think so really. However the most ridiculous thing Ive actually ever seen is when the intelligence officer received an unknown gift, was told it was DNA evidence then took it home and wore it. I mean, imagine that conversation. Have you seen the evidence? Oh yes it hanging in my wardrobe. I mean seriously.
Sorry for the spoilers (as you can tell it actually wound me up). Its a real shame cus the first episode seemed so promising.

The can't be assed to read all that version.

A fundamentally unprepared, ill equipped intelligence officer (No Firearms etc) goes toe to toe with a 'Professional' assassin who quite frankly did everything she could to appear as amateur as possible.

There should be a name for an effect where the show seems better than it really is, simply because of the subject matter. MI5, russians, assassins, serious stuff, right? Wrong! For all its self-important charachters (sometimes too much so), the treatment is so naive and cartoonish as to beggar belief. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thought this was going to be a good show. Started out good but then got really stupid. Sandra Oh is miscast. They should have gotten somebody younger that had more chemistry with the villain (V) but there really is none. Although V takes a beating from time to time she never seems fazed by it or anything else. She should have some vulnerability even if it is something as silly as her vanity, or her clothes which are super chic so we can see actually really upset. She breaks a poor little boys neck who is horribly disfigured and lost his family after a car accident supposedly doing him a favor because he really didn't want to live anymore. You would think she would show a tear or a slight sadness in her face, but nothing. What really got me is when V goes "undercover" into a Russian prison so she could assassinate another assassin who V tried killing before by running over her with her SUV. So she tries to kill her in the prison kitchen and gets into a scuffle and kills two prison guards then puts her hands up and says "throw me in the hole". O.K. folks, this is a RUSSIAN prison. I doubt the only hole she would be seeing is the one between her eyes right after they take her out to the yard and shoot her immediately. Well they do put her in the hole with a 300 lb. gorilla of a girl and of course V gets the kills her by jumping on her back and biting into her jugular. Really? The gorilla really could have taken V out with sooo much ease. I stopped watching after that episode. The antagonist and protagonists have met up so many times, there really isn't much tension. Why, they even had dinner together and were girling it up in V's bedroom before Oh stabs her. Why did she stab her? Disappointing and ridiculous. Expand

Killing Eve, which like Fleabag is mostly set in London, has the same irreverent sense of humor and the same intense exploration of the psychology of its lead characters. Here, those qualities don’t always come together with the conventions of the spy story in perfect harmony. But they do make something new, gratifying, and--in its finest moments--thrilling.

The dialogue has some of the snap of Alfred Hitchcock, both main and minor characters (again as in Hitchcock) are well-played and vivid.
