This show fulfills the void left by Summer Heights High. When I found out Jonah was getting a spin-off I thought it had a lot to live up to. Needless to say I am not disappointed.

Great show. Not racist at all. I gained an interest in exploring Tongan culture from watching this show. It makes it seem like a beautiful culture with lots of singing. Jonah is not meant to be taken as an example of what Tongans are like, and people who think this is the case are very very ignorant.
I am a brown minority male like Jonah but I'm in my mid-30s and I can tell when

I am a brown minority male like Jonah but I'm in my mid-30s and I can tell when something's racist. This show is actually quite the opposite. It shows a teen with a sad upbringing who acts out and tries to get the most out of life by making jokes out of everything. I wasn't that different as a teenager.
I definitely have known kids like Jonah and people who just look at this show on the surface and judging it as racist are doing themselves a disservice by ignoring the content.

This show is social commentary. It's written with intelligence and compassion. Jonah is a character that you at first dislike but grow compassionate to when you learn to see his humanity. This show is great. I highly recommend it if you have a brain.

Jonah from Tonga, a new miniseries from the talented Chris Lilley that doesn’t have enough heft in each episode to prompt weekly return visits. If the episodes were shown in bulk, the whole would have an amazing impact.

While his antics hew closely to his story lines on Summer [Heights High], Lilley continues to find fresh humor, serving up the kinds of eye-rolling laughs and one-liners you'll be quoting for weeks.
