As much as the show deviates in many aspects from the source, I was delightedly surprised with the storytelling and character-building of the show. Outstanding performances by Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. Those who want a straight book television adaptation will be sorely disappointed. Captivating and gorgeously written show. The leads have fantastic chemistry. I’ve read the 3 books and I love the changes made while also keeping true to the themes and characters.

Magnificent! Indeed a beautiful show and Anne Rice would be so very proud! I am so grateful to both her and her son, Christopher, for giving us this delectable gift. I have never seen the Brat Prince so accurate to book and I loved the movie and Queen of the Damned, but this is aMagnificent! Indeed a beautiful show and Anne Rice would be so very proud! I am so grateful to both her and her son, Christopher, for giving us this delectable gift. I have never seen the Brat Prince so accurate to book and I loved the movie and Queen of the Damned, but this is a masterpiece. Louis' delivery and sophisticated sound of his voice throughout the narration are delectable and thrilling. This is purely a sensual delight!

An interesting original vampire series. Don't expect to find Anne Rice's characters or stories here.
Everyone is re-imagined with different backstories and motivations. Almost every location is different. Time periods, both past and present, are changed.

There are some slow moments, but that's to be expected early in a series.
The casting is silly. Jacob Anderson is a great vampire, but would have made an excellent Lestat. Similarly, Sam Reid feels more like Louis with a nice Brad Pitt vibe. Yet my biggest dislike for the casting is that Eric Bogosian is too old to play Daniel and become a vampire later in the series.
If this wasn't based on a long and very popular series of books, I'd probably have rated it much higher. If you're an Anne Rice fan, like me, you probably will not want to watch this.… Expand

They should not have called it "Anne Rice's Story." It's apparent they waited for her to die to release a show that is nowhere near her story. Would be a 0/10 but Jacob Anderson is a gifted actor.

Dislike tv shows buying the book rights and naming the tv show same as book and then its a different story. WTF if you bought the rights to a story why do you change it, obviously they bought the NAME. They payed for the viewers that come from the NAME. Hated it. Took wayyyy too many liberties with the story. If they just called it something different it would be fine.
