    This is an amazing look at popular culture in 2018 and well worth the watch, it's funny and has the balls to make light of serious situations. It's not perfect and lags in the middle but not since South Park and Family guy have we seen a show willing to address these topics in pop culture.     I hate the negative press this show gets because it isn’t politically correct. I thoroughly enjoy the black humor and hope that Netflix renews season 2. Is it perfect, no. But it is a guilty pleasure.

    Dark comedy people...yes, it's revoltingly funny, completely absurd and bawdy. Like a 'carry-on' film on steroids.. But it is actually kind of progressive in its message at times, if you stick with it.

    I found that the show was incredibly interesting. If people looked beyond the 1st episode, they'd see a show packed with charm from the various actors. Sure the lead was overtaken sometimes by the charming side-characters, but it showed they were interesting as well. I really think that this should get a second season, if not to clear its name with the critics, but to give the fans whatI found that the show was incredibly interesting. It actually caught and held my attention in a sea of Netflix series that I leave unfinished. It's fun and if you give it a chance, while there might be some wrinkles in it politically, it was an interesting experience through and through. If anybody working at Netflix takes anything from this, please, the show was enjoyable and attention-grabbing.

    I found the slightly villainous Debby Ryan to capture my attentions with her selfishness, it was enormously satisfying for her to take what she wanted and while she failed a lot of the time, she was AWESOME and the actress played her well. Dallas Roberts, he was an incredible actor and I found his endearing Bob Armstrong to whisk me away due to a delicious mixture of his flamboyancy and his heart which comes from a gay guy. Alyssa Milano, while she was away for a lot of episodes and sometimes felt 2-dimensional with her constant seeking of approval from her rich peers, she managed to make me both hate her and love her. Christopher Gorham made me love Bob Barnard, both for being hot and a total douchebag, I found him to be adorable and punchable, definitely nailed the acting.

    Now let's talk about the political correctness, the majority of reviews here focus on it and I'd be lying if I wasn't itching to tell people why it isn't bad. This show is satire and a black comedy, it has some awesome things that people need to acknowledge. It has good intentions and I don't think would affect anorexic people more than normal. I think that because of Trump's crazy stuff, we're trying to find anything to attack because the corrupt administration keeps on keeping on. We need to stop being angry rats in a box, biting everyone because of any perceived infraction, look at the James Gunn controversy. The guy made one flat joke years ago and he was removed, everyone wants him back because he directed it incredibly well. I think if you give Insatiable a chance, you'd love it.

    Honestly, I hope there is a second season, because boy, I want to find out what happens next in everyone's stories.    … Expand

    In the beginning of this series you start to get to know the character Patrisha or as the school kids call her fatty Patty. Patty was the innocent overweight teenager that had been bullied since she can remember and one day that all changed she got knocked out by a homeless guy wanting her chocolate that she was eating. She got to do her life over.

    Like Black Mirror, but with a good dose of dark humor and a teenager's aspect of modern society. Enjoyed every episode and thumbs up for the actors, director and the rest of the crew.

    If you have huge distance for serious topics you should definitely watch this TV show. It's a comedy with dose of black humor. I can understand bad press because some scenes are a bit intrusive. Hope that we will get season two.

    This show is funny, clever, and subversive all at once. Truly captures some of the worst aspects of our society - calls them out - and lets us laugh at their absurdity. A "Dynasty" for the 21st Century. I am glad I am not alone in how much I enjoy watching this and hope it is renewed!

    If you are a fan of Riverdale, then there is a good chance that you will appreciate Insatiable. This series is edgier than the former but don't let that stop you. This show is good. I don't understand the critic's poor reviews. Maybe they are playing it safe. Insatiable hits a lot of strings when it strums. The story is fun, well written, and the actors back this up with excellent performances.

    I don't understand all the negative critic reviews. It's almost like they didn't watch the show. I found it riveting and binge watchable, and it definitely picked up steam the further you got into it. It was pretty original, dealt with themes of self-hatred and outer appearances, in society, and was funny and weird. I was bummed when I finished it, now I have to wait a year!

This is a show about bad parents and flawed people, not about how screenwriters are going to save the world by tackling social issues until we reach utopia. This show is a lot like Dexter or Fight Club with violence or Curb Your Enthusiasm with offensiveness, but I guess the producers missed the memo from popular critics that only shows with male leads are allowed to be nihilistic and offensive.     A fun, satirical, crazy show filled with many twist and turns. This show honestly is really funny and an easy binge watch. With the over-dramatic acting of Debby Ryan and the quirky twist Dallas Roberts gives their individual characters makes the show that much better!

    Hilarious. As a Southerner, I have to praise Dallas Roberts on edging Zach Galifinakis' Marty Huggins as GREATEST SOUTHERN EFFEMINATE of all time (SE GOAT). There's nothing in this series that would offend anyone with an actual sense of humor. Enjoy it for what it is, a unique, ballsy satire of an overlooked subculture.

    It's not great, it's not that good either, but it's also absolutely not that bad -- and honestly it's not even that problematic. While some dialogue might feel a little bit akward and "eh" at some points, the show itself does deal with its subjects somewhat carefully. I really can't comprehend why the critics reviewed this show so poorly.

Who ever is complaining about this show clearly can’t realize that real life surpasses fiction any day. Im an over weight woman and I did not once feel offended or feel like this show was going to be emotionally hurtful. If anything this shows you the Truth about yourself, and if anybody who’s over weight tells you they are not emotional eaters they are lying ! The only difference is I love my chunky rolls and size 12. Some woman have trouble with that because they care what other people think. I don’t, I’m happy with swimming 10 laps and not passing out. That’s just me! People need to stop blaming society and take responsibility for themselves ! I loved this show and can’t wait for season 2 !… Expand

People need to realise it is a dark comedy and not meant to be teaching values, it is just a show and if people expect shows to do their parenting then that's their problem. Its not poking fun at issues, its addressing them in a comedic way! I love the movie Mean Girls and this show parallels pretty close to it, MeanI don't know what everyone else's problem is but I think its very clever. People need to realise it is a dark comedy and not meant to be teaching values, it is just a show and if people expect shows to do their parenting then that's their problem. She was referring to Patty eating her emotions and the outside people telling her she doesn't need food to feel better. This somehow transferred to "fat shaming" to this woman. It does not "glorify" being skinny in any way, in fact quite the opposite as the main character is shown to become skinny but remains a pretty terrible person. In this way it reminds me of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but I would say a more apt comparison for the overall tone of this show would be The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt or Don't Trust the B in Apt 23. Check it out if you are looking for a dark, off-beat comedy that does not take itself too seriously.… Expand

Yet, I find it necessary to write a brief review of Insatiable. The show, like many, has its flaws. Perhaps they could do better to make the satire of the show more obvious. Perhaps it is meant to be subtle. Patty reflects on how bullying is ignored when the victim is fat, ugly, or otherwise unpopular. This is an extremely impactful and true claim, and perhaps it is further exemplified in how the show utilises satire or a lack of humour as some would suggest, to showcase how easily bullying can prevail in society. Aside from the social commentary surrounding the show, it is also interesting in the sense of whether or not it is a good show. And when it comes to both the elements of entertainment as well as the thematic elements of the show such as the satire and social commentary, I think the show is a whirlwind of chaos. I think it has highs and lows and I am not sure if I love it or hate it, but I think there is one thing that is certain. What is that one thing ? I want to see a second season.     It's not a masterpiece but it's good specially with some characters like bob who shows that heterosexual men come in many ways and breaking that stereotype of a gay feminine man, the message is clear "it doesn't matter how you look outside if you don't feel confortable with yourself inside and if you don't love yourself as you are"

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Trying to relate to the people in Insatiable is a lost cause. The show is considered black comedy and satirical at its maximum level. A beauty queen in a Weiner taco suit? Poison darts? It's not fair to rely on Insatiable to promote a healthy body image and proper social norms because the creator left no room for that. Did I laugh because Patty was fat? Did I cry because she was bullied? No. Because what happened to Patty is so insane that I get to focus on what really happens in real life. That then leaves me more room to actually enjoy the funny antics on the show, feel thrilled at the suspense of each event that may make or break the characters, and admire the incredible acting skills and lines that the actors are shooting out at each and every turn. My favorite line: "I'm not jealous. At least not in the way you think." Just watch out for it. Although the current media comments of both showrunners and stars who are defending the show are trying to make the show relatable, it certainly isn't. However, it most certainly is entertaining as heck. It's a respite from the serious shows that force us to reexamine ourselves in the same light as the characters. Honestly, Patty is not relatable at all for many people because first off, she developed rage issues which led to several felonies and a couple of first-degree murders and possibly, a second-degree one. Showrunner Lauren Gussis admits that Patty is a satirical character based on her own experiences, which are quite rare in the whole fat-shaming and body positivity discussion. Most people who experienced the same type of bullying tend not to rage out, rather, they focus more on the loneliness and negative effects on their lives. In truth, the show is showing another side of the effects of fat-shaming while ensuring that it does not turn into something that can be recreated in real life. As opposed to 13 Reasons Why which allegedly caused a suicide contagion, I highly doubt that Insatiable will create a Cinderella (I have no plus-sized princesses to refer to) Complex Murder/Revenge Spree. It also does not glamorize revenge using a hot new body because most of Patty's plans fell flat on her face and caused her more pain that success. So, no. Insatiable is not bad for the audience. It's actually good that Patty keeps getting beat down even when she becomes thinner because she developed a sense of entitlement that no one with a bad attitude deserves. Viewers fail to realize that Patty is constantly learning that being thin is not all that. Each episode poses a life lesson that is not related to her weight. Insatiable is more of a cautionary tale than an awareness campaign. Let go of the fat-shaming parts because that was never addressed in their world and Patty was never saved from the bullying or the pain. She skipped that part and went right to developing an Insatiable need for what people say she can finally have - revenge, fame, boys, happiness? Bob, Coralee, Christian, and even Brick are all telling her what to do now that she's thin. Most of their advice is actually not about being thin but focused on their own motives and how they can benefit from Patty's new life. How about just letting her think for herself? Now that's a lesson that you can learn from the show - how being thin doesn't mean anything if you're not focusing on who you really are. She's not Fatty Patty. She's not Patricia Bladell, beauty queen. She is just Patty. Watch it and see for yourself.… Expand

    This dark dramedy , about a disgraced/falsely accused former beauty pageant coach (Dallas Roberts) who gets a second chance mentoring a bitter former overweight girl with behavioral issues (Disney Channel veteran Debby Ryan), has gotten a lot of negative buzz from professional critics. I, however, liked it.

    Admittedly things get a little dark or touchey a few times. However, it doesn't    This dark dramedy , about a disgraced/falsely accused former beauty pageant coach (Dallas Roberts) who gets a second chance mentoring a bitter former overweight girl with behavioral issues (Disney Channel veteran Debby Ryan), has gotten a lot of negative buzz from professional critics. I, however, liked it.

    Admittedly things get a little dark or touchey a few times. However, it doesn't happen as thoroughly the reviews say. Overall, I thought this was pretty funny, inventive, and unpredictable.

    Most of the characters can be over-the-top selfish, but at the same time they are all have problems and personal demons and can be pretty sympathetic. One downside is that the show juggles way too many characters. There are some people you want to see more of, but the writers just don't have the time.

    Great cast all around. The MVP though is Irene Choi as treacherous and super dumb contestant rival Dixie Sinclair. Although this type of character is far from original, she has a distinctive flair and steals every scene she is in.

    Listen, if you don't like dark comedy, this won't work for you. Otherwise, you might have a fun time.    … Expand

    C'est sans doute l'un des produits les plus rafraîchissant qu'il m'a été donné de visionner depuis peu. Oui, on se moque de l'obésité, des questions de sexualité et d'orientations sexuelles et de toutes sortes d'autres sujets, mais on le fait avec irrévérence et humour. Personnellement, je fais partie de la communauté LGBTQ et j'ai eu le sentiment qu'on riait avec moi (et non de moi).

A série é uma sátira óbvia e não encontrei nenhum momento ofensivo. A série explora as raças, a homossexualidade e a imagem corporal. Se és muito sensível a piadas sobre estes tópicos, não te recomendo a série.
    Só não gostei da história à volta do "trio" bissexual (?) e o final completamente rídiculo e sem nexo.    … Expand

    It is by no means groundbreaking tv, but these critics really try to hard to get offended for everybody. Yeah it’s a TV show that crosses the line with some things, but it’s the end of the episode I wanted to keep going.

    Actually not bad at all.. It’s intended to to be camp and over the top. It is supposed to mock and be inappropriate. It’s certainly not as great as a John Waters film but that’s the vibe it’s going for.

The series is portraying something that happens daily in society, you do not need to change to be happy, or if you will feel happier just going, she learns that being thin changes MT thing but not who she is. Statically yes, but mentally not, I loved Debby Ryan's performance, I hope it has a second season, I loved the LGBTs in the drama gaining prominence and her bestdaI loved it !!     This is one of the best addicting shows I seen for all you dumb people who complained well then don’t watch it.     This show wasn't what I was expecting but it's pretty funny and entertaining. Lots of WTF weird moments. The critics were pretty harsh with this,to be honest. Can't wait for season 2

    Here's what Insatiable is not: an exercise in fat-shaming or any other teenage caste cruelty. Sure, Patty gets mocked and abused, but the kids who engage in that behavior are unambiguously treated as villains, and they don't fare well. And Patty's acts of vengeance mostly seem heroic, even when they are patently misanthropic. Everybody who ever suffered shunning or scorn at the hands of a high-school social overlord will be raising a fist in solidarity.

    So many problems plague Netflix’s original series it’s only option is the scrap heap, where a few spare parts can be salvaged to sustain other functioning vehicles.
