This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished Insatiable and either it improved in the last couple of episodes or else I've gone mad from the trauma of watching it all. It was still mostly garbage, but it did have a few nice bits.

Once it stopped treating a lesbian teen being in the closet as hilarious and she came out, it actually was kind of sweet seeing her get a girlfriend and be a bit more confident. Still pretty weird that it thought a teen being stuck in the closet was funny though. Meeting the nice trans girl for a scene was good, even if she was only there to sympathise with our main character about feeling rubbish with your body. There was a really touching scene too, where Patty is having a breakdown and she's just sat there stuffing cake into her face in silence. No voice over, no bad jokes, just a poignant look at someone in crisis.

It's just such a shame this program was shackled to the godawful fat suit idea, to ridiculous characterisation and to idiotic plots and offensive jokes and false accusations of sexual violence as comedy and constant, annoying voice overs annihilating every ounce of subtlety. There were a couple of genuinely good bits in this show by the end, and honestly, that just makes me even more frustrated with it, because there is a good show somewhere inside here.

I hope that much like the Deborah Ryan sheds her fat suit after the first few minutes, revealing a pretty 25 year old inside the ridiculous caricature of a fat person, a potential second series of this show will shed the awful flaws holding it down and reveal a good show underneath.

Fraco de roteiro, episódios longos demais e uma história que não vai pra lugar nenhum.

    Insatiable Season 1 Review: 6/10
Insatiable is fun to watch but lacks direction. The story sometimes didn't have any sense at all but that doesn't mean its a bad show, it's just a normal one.

Here's what Insatiable is not: an exercise in fat-shaming or any other teenage caste cruelty. Sure, Patty gets mocked and abused, but the kids who engage in that behavior are unambiguously treated as villains, and they don't fare well. And Patty's acts of vengeance mostly seem heroic, even when they are patently misanthropic. Everybody who ever suffered shunning or scorn at the hands of a high-school social overlord will be raising a fist in solidarity.

Insatiable makes “Norbit” feel like a comedic masterpiece, and in 2018, there’s nothing noble about that distinction.

So many problems plague Netflix’s original series it’s only option is the scrap heap, where a few spare parts can be salvaged to sustain other functioning vehicles.
