Murder has no basis in the reality of the legal system, and just like Scandal, there are probably two too many characters to have to care about. But it manages to continuously elevate the dramatic stakes and navigate the ever-evolving relationships of its principals while rarely allowing itself to become narratively untethered.

The first season was fantastic! Viola Davis deserved to win the Emmy.

The second season however has turned into somewhat of a disappointment.

While Davis’ character is still outstanding, I personally am tired of some of the supporting cast; especially the young female attorney who had been scheduled to marry the rich boyfriend. She’s turned into a boring nag.

As for Frank, I think he moonlights for the mob.

I don’t understand the need for the blond skinny assistant to Annalise. She adds nothing to the show, except for being a bed mate to one of the students (The son of the judge).

What the show needs to do, in my opinion, is ‘thin the herd’ when it comes to the supporting cast.

Perhaps the biggest problem is that the characters aren't likeable, and therefore it's hard to invest in their fates. Full Review »
