“Girls5Eva” always feels too short because you’re laughing at everything packed into the episodes. If you grew up following the teen music scene during the new millennium you’ll find everything you loved (and a bunch of stuff you missed) in the series. At this juncture, it’s not saying much to declare Girls5eva Peacock’s best original series — there’s not much competition for the title. But it’s certainly the kind of too-funny-not-to-share show that should proliferate by word of mouth. Extremely funny characters, great music, amazing comedy timing, tons of representation. The references to the 90s are spot on as well. Sara Bareilles is a brilliant musician and although her character isn't meant to be the funniest, she keeps up with Paula Pell and Busy Philipps pretty well,Extremely funny characters, great music, amazing comedy timing, tons of representation. And unlike what the misogynists say, Tina Fey did not write for this show, she was the producer, so just wake up. Life is political, this is 2021, do not expect a show to be dumb just because the entire main cast is female. Girls5eva is hilarious, goofy and clever.… Expand

Such a great show. Really clever and incredibly quick writing. The pilot alone has as many jokes as some sitcoms have in half a season. The cast simply couldn't be better either. Highly highly recommended.

Hilarious. The story is a bit slow in places, but the quick paced dialogs that go from 90s puns to current day popculture quibs in the blink of an eye easily make up for that. The 4 leads are very well cast and play off each other well, each putting their stamp on their very different characters.

Girls5Eva seems to hate its own characters, which makes it hard for the audience to enjoy them. But really, the problem is the jokes. Girls5Eva is at moments wordy without being clever and broad without being fun. There's nothing wrong with this, but Tina Fey's writing has a tendency to wade into political and social issues with no thought or intentionality beyond a centrist shrug. Like all of her works, Girls5Eva takes an everything-including-the-kitchen-sink approach to comedy, and the results are not so much mixed as uniformly bad.… Expand

Girls5Eva feels as though Tina Fey banished every level-headed person in her employ and, in their place, hired your regressive, unfunny uncle. The brand of humor here seems to be "Stereotypes are funny," and exactly nothing else.
