Over at the Platts the day has got off to a good start with Joe surprising Gail with an expensive watch. Gail has planned a party for later that day but as the Platts settle down for their Christmas dinner they are invaded by some early arrivals – the Windasses have got the timings wrong and turn up with party food forcing Gail to invite them to stay for Christmas dinner – much to Joe's annoyance.
By the time the Websters arrive for the party things have gone downhill somewhat and when Gary turns up David is seething as is Kevin . Christmas is a time to spend with your loved ones and Steve is desperate to get some time alone with Becky. He makes his excuses to get away from the Rovers and arranges to meet Becky at the cab office.
