A Discovery of Witches is quite well staged, quite well written, has quite good special effects and is quite imaginative in how it deploys them. It now offers a quite evocative rendering of 16th-century England. But it’s not very anything. Its pulse is much too steady. Read full review

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While the spirit of the story is there, the show is lacking major elements that contribute to the story. Honestly the show should say loosely based on the books because that is what they did this time. Characters are missing, while points of the story are either changed or just missing all together. If you're watching the show without having ever read the books you'll be fine. For those of you who have read the books prepared to be sadly disappointed.… Expand

I'll keep this brief. Season 1 was an enjoyable surprise. Season 2 was disappointing to say the least.
Story telling was ham-fisted. New elements to the world were added suddenly, and almost immediately and coincidentally became extremely important.
