Trine proves that if you have an original mix of ideas, even old school gameplay can still work great, especially when paired with incredible visuals and extremely polished code. So, it is a bit short and lacks long-term replayability and gets scored accordingly, but don't let that stop you - Trine is definitely something special.

To stay on top of this great game or to enjoy it as intended, you need to pay attention and think before committing yourself. A far better game than the sum of its parts.

Mirror's Edge shines on the PC due to superior controls. At times it can be very harsh towards amateurs but rewards proper practice and skill to a great degree. Audiovisual masterpiece and a polished experience, yet doesn't quite match all the expectations and offers little content for the price.

Fresh and fun isometric story-driven monster bash where you can actually improvise and cast spells by combining raw elements instead of mashing numeric keys for canned results. Fun even alone and hilarious chaos in up to four player co-op.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine may not be a perfect masterpiece, but it has been polished from all the right spots. Non-stop action worthy of the M-rating, showing you exactly what you can do with a pair of adamantium claws in gory detail.

Dragon Age: Origins is an exceptional role playing game that features a strong setting and storyline and offers quite a challenge, effectively requiring you to either stack your group and abuse overpowered abilities or play on Easy as combat is poorly balanced. Suffers also from offensively poor handling of downloadable content - when will the DLC milking stop?

A positive surprise, a remarkable "public transport tycoon" game from a brand new dev team that clears all the basic hurdles of the genre and manages to be entertaining. Traffic simulation needs some fixes, but otherwise quite polished and beautiful - just make sure your video card is good enough.

A fine shooter with multitude of game modes and maps, just not quite as polished as "Team Fortress 2."

The fundamental simulation aspects haven’t changed, but the action layered on top does much to eschew the series' reputation as a competent but sleepy simulation.

Great PC conversion of a somewhat flawed game. It just feels that the actual gameplay elements got sidelined while developing all the technology used to realize the the impressive cities, the crowds and the great character animation.

A fine turn-based digital version of a superb board game that, despite some bugs and AI issues, is a blast to play. Rules take some effort to learn but they provide a wide set of strategic options, ensuring endless hours of entertainment in online leagues. Shame that the owners of the first Blood Bowl are left out with incompatible multiplayer across editions.

Empire: Total War is impressive and very ambitious in scope, but it feels like the final polish was sacrificed to ship the game according to a set schedule. First patches have resolved some of the worst bugs, but the gameplay is still riddled with dumb AI and other issues that can't be overlooked. Pretty and perhaps after some patches a truly great game, but it's not there just yet.

Polished, visually impressive and offering a surprising amount of depth under the deceptively simple gameplay. On the downside, Demigod suffers from major multiplayer connectivity issues and lack of content at launch - a lot is riding on patches and free content updates appearing as promised.

What can I say - Ghostbusters: The Video Game succeeds in being a proper Ghostbusters game with a good storyline and gameplay that fits the setting and gets a thumbs up for that. On the other hand, it is embarrassingly linear with almost zero replayability and the PC version omits multiplayer modes found on the consoles. At least it is priced accordingly, offering reasonable value.

Atmospheric and original story that keeps switching gears between fast-paced FPS action, sneaking and pure horror. Completely linear and has a tendency to be brutally unfair, leading to some frustrating deaths. Still, definitely worth checking out.

Fine story-driven game about mafia and a life of crime that stumbles on lack of content - there just isn't much to do in Empire City and the story is over before you know it.

Fairly conventional fantasy MMO with some interesting innovations and heavy bias towards large scale player vs. player combat. Polished and playable, but with many small reservations. Badly in need of more content and balance tweaks.

Surprisingly good effort for a pirate-themed MMO. Instead of a reskinned Everquest-derivative, we get some actual gameplay innovations.

Forgettable story, linear levels, some technical snafus, boss copy-pasting, combat issues... the list of bits that don't quite cut it is long and it is all over far too quickly, yet Forgotten Sands is a fine addition to the Prince of Persia storyline that plays well and manages to capture some of the platforming magic of Sands of Time.

Entertaining, if somewhat unfinished superhero MMO. Feels a bit like the unholy marriage of City of Heroes and World of Warcraft, liberally borrowing features and gameplay from both and mixes them with a couple of original ideas. Thin on content and in need of a balancing patch or three, but depending on further development, could turn out to be okay in the long run.

Reasonably pretty scripted cover-based shooter that does break the mold with the skillshot system, offering good fun for about eight hours. Very limited multiplayer and little replay value, offering dubious value at full retail price.

Definitely looks like a game from 2007 and can't match the visuals of modern shooters. Single player is fairly short and multiplayer is mostly a tickbox feature, yet Duke Nukem Forever manages to capture some of the magic of the original and has that spark that seems to be missing from most games these days - it may be rude, shocking and decisively old school, but I had fun!

Escape from Paradise City isn't trying to be the most visually stunning or the most innovative game, but with its excellent blend of several genres, its attention to detail, and easy accessibility with its low requirements and absolutely no frustration due to bugs, it becomes a game that I'd easily recommend to anyone.

Fun little RTS on the cheap, proving that creativity can't be declared extinct just yet - even in this day and age of multi-million dollar game budgets. Best when played against human opponents.
