An adventure masterpiece...the best adventure game I've ever played.

One of the most innovative and enjoyable titles of 2000.

Its more realistic graphics, short-but-helpful training videos, a nifty career mode, new multiplayer additions, and lots of other tweaks make it the best in the series thus far.

A mediocre sequel.

This comic farce will leave you rolling on the floor with laughter and provide hours of enjoyment, a healthy dose of good-natured, unadulterated fun, and more monkeys than every other game combined.

As many improvements as the game's developers have made over its predecessors, I only wish they had gone the extra mile and made this game into the top-notch title it could have been.

A must-have for any fan of this genre and is easily my selection as strategy game of the year so far.

The gameplay isn’t perhaps as tight as Nintendo’s ageing "1080º Snowboarding," but it’s an original take on the sport and deserves all the praise it has received.

If you’re looking for a fun, addictive arcade racer, where you can take devious shortcuts to get one over on your rivals, then look no further.

While battles are fast and furious they can get confusing and despite the presence of a compass there is no radar to show where the enemies are.

X-Games doesn't have quite the graphics flare that SSX has, though in my opinion X-Games is the better looking of the two titles. It also has considerably faster load-times.

A great sequel...It is, however, hard going and less proficient gamers may find it too difficult and a chore to get through, even on the normal setting.

The D-pad tends to be a little slow and straight in responding and the joystick is a little too fast and wiggly. This can cause no end of trouble when you are trying to aim or if you or your targets are moving.

The graphics are slick and shiny, the soundtrack is diverse and compliments the eras you fight through and the action is fast, frantic and undying.

On the one hand it has a terrific atmosphere and a style that fans of the movie will most likely adore... Yet on the other it is exceedingly frustrating thanks to the lack of an in-mission save feature.

There are simply a huge number modes and options and game types to venture through in this game, so many that you'll likely never tire of things to try here.

An incredible technical achievement in visuals, depth and realism. CFS2 is a technically excellent game, though somewhat lacking in heart.

If you haven't already played "Corkscrew Follies," there are definitely enough attractive new features and interesting scenarios in Loopy Landscapes to provide hours of additional coaster building enjoyment to your theme park empire.

A game which is wholly unsatisfying and verging on unplayable.

The parts alone don't suggest a great game, but as a whole, it works really well, and I expect to be playing Starlancer for a while longer yet, especially with the incredibly fun cooperative mode available.

Unless you're really really into the game, you can live without this add-on.

The most impressive aspect of Thief 2 is its massive and varied levels. The levels are truly huge and require hours to fully explore.

It does become kind of mesmerising, but like watching waves on a beach, chances are that pretty soon you'll tire of the lack of variety on offer.

A game that is jack of all trades, but master of none. It's fun to play at first, but tends to get fairly tedious when you realise it's rather limited - when you realise you can't change your ship, actually take on any missions, or do anything of any real interest.

Even those desperate for a fix of "Elite"-style freelancing will end up disappointed and unsatisfied.

The gameplay itself is fascinating and not mindlessly repetitve.

The dated graphics and the lack of a campaign turned me off. SMA may have been successful if it was an add-on pack that came out last year, but this year it just seems dated.

The combination of several dozen professionally designed levels, competitive bots, and entertaining game modes will be hard for DM enthusiasts to resist.

The enemy AI isn't really what it should be. This is a minor criticism, but when a game reaches this level things like this tend to stand out.

To sum up my feelings about Flanker 2.0, consider this. "Flanker 1" has been on my hard drive for getting on for 4 years. I doubt very much whether Flanker 2.0 will remain on my system for 4 months.

While those of you with hypercritical eyes will argue there's room for improvement, AoE 2 is the best RTS game of the year to date, and as such is worthy of our GDR Gold Award.

A solid and compelling title, that can keep you riveted to the very end, even when play starts to border on frustration blowout. Sure, Homeworld has some warts, but these are generally hidden by the game being fresh and innovative, instead of a regurgitated old rehash.

Even with the amazing achievements in other areas of the game, one of the most under-appreciated, but ultimately useful, components of SS2 is its interface.

Provides the player with as much tension, graphical realism, and all-round superb gameplay as one could wish for. The minor bugs and the tricky control system can defintely annoy you at times, but they shouldn't totally put you off, as the game really is a classy bit of programming.

I have no doubts about TA:K's entertainment value. Yes, it is a reincarnation of a two-year old game system (with radically different gameplay, I must emphasize) with various problems, and the innovation may no longer be there, but the fun certainly is.

Fans of the first two games will either love or hate the new plot-based objectives, although combat remains the beautiful, almost artful experience it always has been.

Ridiculously addictive. A hallmark of a good game is that it makes what would be mundane interesting. In EQ you can happily play for hours just trying to gain enough experience to get to the next level.

While it's not the groundbreaking game that Civilization was, it's a very worthy successor and it'll probably stay on your hard drive a long, long time.

Offers an amazing amount of control over how the game is played in a game session. It is very easy to set up a multiplayer game, and just as easy to join one in progress over the Internet or LAN.

Simply the most immersive, addictive game I have played in a long time.

As it is I hereby award this game a Silver award for taking risks, partly delivering them and for being a game with plenty of scope and depth that takes a lot of getting to grips with.

Everything about Half-Life smacks of quality: the storyline, the gameplay, the graphics, the sound effects and last, but not least, the obvious level of committment Sierra and Valve have invested in it. Half-Life is, without doubt, the best PC game I have ever played. Ever.

An engrossing game. It's strength lies in its portrayal of a cut-throat business environment, with the "train set" element of the game playing second fiddle, albeit a gloriously rendered second fiddle.

Nothing short of superb - it takes "Fallout," expands upon it, enriches it, enhances it in so many ways that it makes one feel as if the original was immature.

Everything in the game reeks of excellence. The characters are good, the story is intriguing and the Land of the Dead is a wonderful place.

You get a fun, instantly appealing, easy to play-hard to master real-time strategy, with character and an endless amount of playability.

Great value for money. As the majority of gaming is still a single player experience, I can say this game is better than "Quake," its nearest rival, and therefore has to be one of the best games on the PC.

The mood is right, the graphics good, and the plot compelling. I found the tactical combat system refreshingly intelligent, and the multitude of ways you can approach the game from a stats point of make a wide variety of styles possible in the game.

The moaning and suffering of hit civilians can be quite disturbing in their realism, as are the fire effects and animations. While the graphics fail to evoke the surreal atmosphere that was intended, the sound plays its part superbly.

A truly unique and innovative game which breathes new life into the wargaming and real-time genres and provides one of the best multi-player experiences ever devised in computer gaming. What's more, it is enormously fun and challenging to play.

If you managed to afford that high-end system then treat yourself to a game that will keep you hooked for some time to come and that will have your friends' jaws dropping in awe. It's a fresh game and a deserved GDR Gold winner. The real-time ante has been well and truly upped.

A feast of atmospheric entertainment. While it might tire after a while, you'll likely get your money's worth long before that point, and moreso if you venture into the chaos that is Battle.net, where life takes on a whole new meaning and the hours slip mysteriously away. Diablo is a landmark game.

Great game, but a bit off from perfect. One of the things that irks me most is the race creation options. Getting to choose from only 4 similar governments is not enough.

It not only completely satisfies the wants of any eager strategy player, it also covers those who like more action in their games, and then appeals to practically everyone in between. If you don't have Command & Conquer, buy this immediately.

I did however find the resource maps and graphics to be confusing. When looking at the resource map you can't tell right away which industries are on or off. You can get this info from the map legend but think the map could have been a bit clearer.

The inclusion of the gore and the adult content, will no doubt sell the game, but to be honest it does not add anything to the game. Harvester is not terrible, far from it, but it does not offer anything substantial enough for it to be considered as one of the better games from the genre.

Plays fairly well. I say 'fairly', and not brilliantly because Broken Sword seems a little too linear places. Unlike The Pandora Directive, you only have access to a few locations at one time, and once you enter a new area, such as Spain, you can't leave till you're finished there.

The shareware version before you buy this. Good, but it doesn't quite live up to the hype.

Chaos Overlords is good for maybe a couple of days play, especially with the novelty of the whole 'gang war' thing, but after that's worn off, it gets boring fairly quickly. It's not as interesting or fun to play as "Syndicate" or "Civilization"; it's just too limited.

The game not only rocks in single-player, but is also up among the best multiplayer experiences, and plays well over the Internet.

Under the surface lies something of a bionic game - they have rebuilt it, and the new product is better, stronger, faster - well, probably not faster (unless daddy has bought you a silky P133), but it's one hell of a game all the same.

A tremendously fun game; I don't usually play adventure games, but this one held my interest from beginning to end. With excellent roach animation and plenty of interesting locations to wander around your senses are kept keen, and the stylish video clips add very well to the eerie atmosphere.

An awesome game, and exceptional fun. If you're a fan of "Dune II" or "Warcraft" then this one will be a winner.

For someone who isn't an adventure gamer, this game was absolutely pleasing. I found it thoroughly enjoyable albeit a little quick to end... but on the whole, this game is good.

The backdrops and characters are all superbly detailed, with the characters themselves being in real-time 3D, while the backdrops are pre-rendered...A potentially good game spoiled by stupid bugs.

The question here is whether the three new maps -- which are all based on American soil for the first time -- are any good, because really, that's all you're getting. Thankfully, they are. In fact, while one's decent, two are excellent.
