Although each is unaware of the others, they all share an ageless common spirit of adventure - but unknown to them, their daring actions have attracted the attention of the TimeSplitters.

The TimeSplitters - an evil race dwelling outside of time and space. For eons they have manipulated the fate of humanity for their own malign ends - with cursed shards of crystal they have sown fear, greed and conflict throughout history. Now, roused from an ancient sleep, the TimeSplitters cross the threshold from their shadowy dimension - ripping through the fabric of time itself to confront our heroes.

Can our heroes unite against a common enemy to realize a greater destiny? Or will humanity be consigned forever to a realm ruled under the shadow of the TIMESPLITTERS?

An awesome new first-person shooter with the chops and options to tangle with the best.

The graphics are slick and shiny, the soundtrack is diverse and compliments the eras you fight through and the action is fast, frantic and undying.
  3. While it lacks the intricate single player mode of "Goldeneye," the multi-player content in TimeSplitters is arguably the best in console FPS history.
  4. Fans of the N64 duo of "GoldenEye" and "Perfect Dark" should definitely give this one a try.
  5. If you're a friend-less hermit living in the mountains of Montana you may not get the full experience from this game, but if you've got people to play with, it's easy to overlook Timesplitters' flaws.
  6. "Goldeneye" fans looking for another adventure probably won't have too good of a time with this one since it needs more than one person to truly shine.
  7. Just more of the same old formula in a candy shell. Take away the coatings and purportedly new features, and the game finds its way back to its roots - in the past.

Timesplitters has perhaps the WORST single player i have ever seen in a game. its the exact same mundane task for each and every level. however, this one really shines with its multiplayer. with more customization than Halo, and a faster pace than a NASCAR race, this is one game that can easily entertain 2 or more people for several hours. However, as good as the shooting is, it's not attached to anything else worth while.

Even though I found the overall experience quiet shallow, I was surprised to hear that this was a launch title for the PS2. This would have been a great way to show off the systems performance through graphics, sound and game-play. Unfortunately, even though the visuals and game-play run very nicely, they don't have much depth. Each level layout is fairly basic. The game-play consists of running from point A to B and back while shooting everything in between. And there is no real story to tie everything together. In the end, this was just a very expensive demo to show off what the hardware could do.

Even though there isn't much to this one, it is good to see the foundation of what future games in the series would become. There isn't much here other than a nostalgia trip and can be easily avoided to make way for better FPS. In saying all that, the multiplayer support is next to none and should be considered if that's what you are looking for.
